Moll Rua - Uilleann Pipes
Uploading another video from a Tune of The Month Group. This is a tune I love to play called Mall Rua. Life is still a little crazy but I am hooping to post some higher quality (and more regular) content soon as things begin to settle down a bit.

Uilleann Pipes - Girl in the big house
มุมมอง 6379 หลายเดือนก่อน
It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to upload here. Here is a recent tune I learned that will need some practice, but thought I would share the early stages. I'm a little out of practice on the pipes as I've been working on fixing some small issues and doing some maintenance. I feel I have this set almost up to snuff, so hoping to get back into the swing of things.

Some life updates and picking up the pipes again after a month long intermission. Attempting an O'Carolan tune called Princess Royal. Lastly, the drone sound in this video was used with permission from, and created by Jon Antonsson and can be found on his channel @TunesAndTools or through his bandcamp link here: jonantonsson.bandcamp.com/
Two Jigs in Northern Ontario (Potholes Provincial Park)
มุมมอง 185ปีที่แล้ว
Taking some time to explore Northern Ontario and play some tunes along the way. This gem of a place is called Potholes Provincial Park. Unique cavities (potholes) in the rock were formed in a section of the Kinniwabi River by the swirling, abrasive action of rock and water draining from a shrinking continental ice sheet. A unique sight to see!! The jigs played in this video are "The Rolling Wav...

Uilleann Pipes - May Morning Dew (Air), Belles of Tipperary (Reel)

Hello! Thanks for checking out this video. This is a set of tunes I have been working on. The first is an Air called May Morning Dew. Taught to me by my piping teacher Simon. You can hear a great recording of this tune by him on his album "Half Way There" here: th-cam.com/video/EuX84aFIX5Q/w-d-xo.html The second tune is a reel called "Belles of Tipperary" (also known as The New Policeman). Learning the Irish Flute - A quick 3 Month Update
มุมมอง 586ปีที่แล้ว
Here is a quick update video on how things are coming along on the Irish Flute. I am sorry I haven't been more active documenting the progress, but progress has been pretty slow until about 2-3 weeks ago when things started to come together well. This has been way more of a challenge than I ever expected but it's very rewarding. Check out this link for my first week on the Irish Flute: th-cam.c...

Donald MacLean's Farewell to Oban - Small Pipes (Kitchen Pipes) for Robbie Burns Day
มุมมอง 610ปีที่แล้ว
Something a little different for my Channel today. A friend requested a pipe tune for Robbie Burns Day. I decided to try a more appropriate bagpipe style for the Scottish celebration. Figured I'll post it here for entertainment purposes. Haha I am not sure if the tune is appropriate, but its one of the few I remember from my Highland Bagpipe Days. Pardon some poor fingering technique, I had to ...
The Rolling Waves - Tin Whistle
มุมมอง 469ปีที่แล้ว
The Rolling Waves jig filmed in snowy Northern Ontario. I had not plans to film a video, I did not bring my audio recorder, but it was so quiet and lovely out I wanted to try. The camera didn't do the ambiance justice and there was a natural reverb in the forest. However, it was a lovely walk to exercise my good old dog Sam.

I bought a set of Fred Morrision uileann pipes a year ago, they arrived just 4 months ago love the instrument. There definitely more challenging then my GHB's but I love the. Thank you for sharing your journey on the pipes.
Ah ah the rolling waves in the snow 😂..... lovely playing, beautiful ❤
Ah good ❤
You’re coming along wonderfully Daniel
Beautiful ❤
Maith thu! Your playing is really improving - Keep it up.👍👍
Thank you kindly!
Nice to see you took the pipe up again.
Who made your set? I am in Ontario and just waiting for mine to be finished.
My set is a bit of a mix bag of parts. I basically built this set around a Morgenbrodt practice set. Bag, Bellows and Chanter are Morgenbrodt made that I purchased new. I then found a 3/4 set that I added on. The drones and mainstock are made by Boisvert, and the 2 regs are made by Tim Britton. The drones and regs I bought used and needed to do some work to make everything functional. I had to build a new reed for one of the regs which I am still fin tuning, and fix an airleak in the drone switch. It is coming together, but still in the works. Who's is building your set? Congrats on ordering a set! It's an exciting time! Also, please feel free to find me on facebook, I'd love to learn where you are located!
So good to see you posting! Bring more! I'm waiting for my half set to arrive in August and your video just makes the wait harder (it's actually a compliment) haha
Oh how exciting! The last few weeks are always the hardest to wait! Hope to see some videos from you soon, and congrats on the new set! Thanks for your kind words!
Great tune and well played as well..how hard have ye found it to play the uilleann pipe there??? Is at very hard to keep the air going to the keyed chanter etc??? I play a diff kind pipes
Excellent description in this video. Thank you
I tried to see what uillean pipeslooked and sounded like, but this is just a talking head.
Hello, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry if this video did not meet your expectations. I am still fairly new to making videos. There is a clear view of the Uilleann pipes at 0:05 and some sound demonstrations at 15:10 and 16:15. I also feel this video (th-cam.com/video/4MxFsk4sYM4/w-d-xo.html) may be more what you are looking for as a higher quality, educational production. Cheers.
Beautiful
❤
wonderful sound Dan!
Came for the Irish flute, but commenting for the Redwall bookshelf! Love it!
Haha, thanks! Those books got me through my high school years. I should be posting a flute update video soon.... just over the 1 year mark now!
you've made progress well done, keep up the good work
Thanks very much!
One of my favorite hymns. Awesome playin.
Great playing. 👍
This is very helpful to me as I'm learning about reed making, and how critical different areas are to the tone. This made what I was imagining from reading all click together. Thank you! Edit* I know it's hard to do, but would be really cool to test a reed that has a sinking back D. I wonder about frequency coupling further back if the reed gets broken in a little too well or is too thin/dry.
Rad dude. I can tell you're good on the calipers. Just got my half set 2 weeks ago and looking at ordering seasoned reed stock and a kit from David. Your reed sounds awesome and your playing is getting good. I'd like to eventually make some nice tooling after I play around with reed making. Thanks for sharing, it helps our small community.
song of my life

sou Brasileiro e meu sonho é um dia poder possuir esse belo instrumento. é meu sonho de infância.. infelizmente aqui no Brasil não é fácil de encontrar.
Would you be able to provide the sheet music for this. I just started playing the uillleann pipes a few months ago and would love to add this tune to my practice
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art Thou my best thought, by day or by night Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise Thou mine inheritance, now and always Thou and Thou only first in my heart High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art High King of heaven, my victory won May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's sun Heart of my own heart, whatever befall Still be my vision, O ruler of all Heart of my own heart, whatever befall Still be my vision, O ruler of all
'Luck money', is an old Irish tradition - I use it all the time. Your playing is coming along, stick to it.👍
Good man!
Thanks!
Hi, it’s a Morgenbrodt practice set, isn’t it?
Yes indeed!
Cool! :)
Very nice indeed, Daniel. What make is this practice set you have now? Would you recommend the Daye pipes for a beginner; my son wants to take them up.
Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy few weeks and I haven't had too much time to follow up with youtube. The practice set I am playing now is made by Hendrik Morgenbrodt located in Germany. Daye pipes are a great place to start. They are budget friendly for someone wanting to test the waters and perfectly fine to start with and play for a long time. If your son is serious about this instrument, it may be work reaching out to a pipe maker that offers full sets and start with a practice set to build onto in the future. Daye pipes will be a good place to start, but you will likely find the need to upgrade eventually due to the limit of keys and no ability to add regulators. Also, each maker/chanter is unique so switching half way through your learning will set you back a few weeks. Either way, its a good place to start! Just stay away from the ebay/amazon pipes (usually Pakistan built). You will find nothing but trouble there. Best of luck!
@@DanielCaza no need to apologise. Many thanks indeed for your help.
Yes it's a different type of Bagpipe. This specific Bagpipe is meant to be played Seated as it's heavier than the Great Highland Bagpipe.
You still got it DAN! Stellar piping under them there stalactites!😮 Gonna finally learn this tune!
Can't wait to hear it!
How did you make your drones sound like that
I used a drone recording (with permission) from here: @TunesAndTools It helps with intonation and fill in the drone sound until I can obtain some real drones ;-)
@@DanielCaza that’s awesome
👍👍👍👍
Love it. Glad you're settled in.
That is great news Dan!
Thanks kindly! Hope you are well!
Missed your videos. So glad you found a place to play again. Looking forward to more to come 🥰
My experience exacgtly I"m so glad I wasnt the dummest kid in the room. Thank you for posting this.
Haha, struggles we all face! Good luck in your journey!
I believe this video should be included with ALL Irish flute tutorials for newbies, because it gets so discouraging when you can’t make a proper tone in the first days/weeks/months. I’ve had people come up to me asking is their (perfectly) fine flute defective because of the hurdles to get there! Keep it up and great progress! It took me 2 years to get the embouchure to where I was happy and I’m still constantly changing it! 😊
Thanks for the comment and kind words! It certainly took me by surprise, but I am so glad to have stuck with it. It's a rewarding instrument to play and I am falling in love with it. I really appreciate the encouraging words. I can certainly understand what your students were feeling. Cheers.
Nice set Daniel. The rolling waves is one of my favorite tunes to play, i’ll have to learn mcgoldrick’s now
Love the uileann pipes, they were made for this song!! Good work.
Good man Dan!
Great Hi Sam
Great Dan
Nice, happy trails.
