Here is a collection of photos I have found over the years. Some have come from sites such as eHam, W8JYZ, QRZ.com, Buckmaster, FB and others. These photos represent almost 100 years of ham radio. I have had the pleasure of enjoying contacts with some of these amateur radio operators over my 60 years of hamming. The music is "'Dancing on the Airwaves" by Sebastian Jago d(ºộº)b 73, WØAAA

Morse Code Keys for Portable Use by WØAAA
มุมมอง 7K13 ปีที่แล้ว
If you like to operate your ham radio station from portable locations using Morse code, consider using one of the many smaller code keys available. Protect your primary key from being scratched or damaged. Many of the smaller ones weigh from 1 to 5 ounces, are quite compact and take up very little space.

Ham Radio/Ice Fishing Adventure by WØAAA

Combining 2 great hobbies. Ice fishing and amateur radio on Movil Lake, 7 miles north of Bemidji, Minnesota. The ice was almost 3 feet thick and the depth was 17 feet. The combined effort yielded 3 Perch, 2 Northern Pike and alot of "ham." The equipment used: Icom 746; 2-12 volt fully charged deep cycle Marine batteries and a G5RV antenna up 30 feet in the center, 15 feet on the ends and an Aqu...

    Nice and fast 💨. Thanks for sharing. Could you send faster on dual paddles? or not?

      Check out this link by N1FN regarding dual versus single lever paddles. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/cwops.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/iambicmyth.pdf

      @@W0AAA I've already read this, thanks. It's about squeeze keying vs. not squeeze keying (on dual paddles). Obviously, with single paddles, it's impossible to squeeze, thus the point is moot.

      @@franka7691 The top cw operators in the world come from the country of Belarus. They win the high speed telegraphy contests held in Europe and Asia year-after-year. According to what I was told by one of the participants, they prefer single levers over dual levers. I prefer the single levers myself but it really doesn't become an issue until very high speeds are attempted.

      @@W0AAA thanks for corroborating. That's exactly the same thing that I heard, from multiple sources. I'm thinking about purchasing a paddle that is switchable from single to dual function, as my next paddle.

      For the same reason that trap shooters shoot traps, bow hunters hunt bows and table tennis players serve tables.

    This is just wonderful history of ham ops & their stations. This is a love of ham radio and the characters who love working it. The music actually helps realize the profound nature of the ops who have participated in this hobby documenting individual amateurs who are as some have said, now past. Silent keys, our Elmers. They were great in this hobby. This history should not be forgotten.

    Hello! Does the low profile paddle style help you? I see this is an optional paddle style to their standard style paddle.

    • @W0AAA
      @W0AAA ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jason, For me it absolutely helps. I use my thumb on the left side of the paddle and my index and middle finger on the right so that is why I choose that style of paddle.
