  • Here is a collection of photos I have found over the years. Some have come from sites such as eHam, W8JYZ, QRZ.com, Buckmaster, FB and others. These photos represent almost 100 years of ham radio. I have had the pleasure of enjoying contacts with some of these amateur radio operators over my 60 years of hamming. The music is "'Dancing on the Airwaves" by Sebastian Jago d(ºộº)b 73, WØAAA

This is just wonderful history of ham ops & their stations. This is a love of ham radio and the characters who love working it. The music actually helps realize the profound nature of the ops who have participated in this hobby documenting individual amateurs who are as some have said, now past. Silent keys, our Elmers. They were great in this hobby. This history should not be forgotten.

I love seeing these old shacks rather they are primitive and modest or expensive. What a thrill to sit there and talk to the world.... 73, WA7VVV

This is the most outstanding and interesting ham shack documentary I have seen, it took me over an hour to watch as I paused each photo to examine all the old equipment. You did a fantastic job of putting this video together along with background music. Thanks and I will check out your YT channel for other videos. Walt (W4FGO)

Most are silent keys now, a lost generation of true Hams.

Hi Zed, the best shack video I've seen on YT. Also your QSL display is the most impressive I've seen. How did you attach the cards? Can they be removed? Also how did you get the nickname "ZED"?

Wow the guy at 1:34 is in a Iron lung. You can see his face in the mirror.

That was Cliff Corne, K9EAB, who contracted polio at age 9 and spent the rest of his life in an iron lung before becoming SK at 29 years old. He still had the use of a finger and became an accomplished cw operator. I worked him in many contests in the 60s.

@@W0AAA Thanks for the reply. I Got my novice licence back in 1982 but never bought a rig or got into it. A few weeks ago I did it again, I got my Technicians licence and now studying for my general this time I'm actually going to make a contact. I hope! :)

when I was growing up there was a ham radio event there I saw a car and truck set up like this which was one reason I wanted to be a ham
I started when CB radios you had to have a license still remember the call KQX 7002...when they dropped of the license I quit CB's then worked as a first responder for 30 yrs in 1990 I fulfilled my dream and became a tech-no code KB7PPW have enjoyed it ever since

looks like it's probably a multi op field day or special event station.

I just took a second look, looks like a car with a lot of vhf/uhf gear.
