Haven't had any free time to work on the hovercraft recently, but we managed to find so.e time to fit the new fuel pump this morning and it works! Still lots to do but a running engine is a big tick off the list. #hovercraft #restoration #itsworking

Amazing, so talented!
I've seen these when walking the dog and they are truly stunning. Fantastic work 👍 👏
Many thanks
It’s too bad about that kerf on the one but nice piece. I like the furring texture. Was that done with a chainsaw or die grinder?
Fur was done with the Chainsaw.
Thanks! I’m currently working on an otter and been wondering if the saw can do an otters fur right. You got it done nice. I’ll use the saw.
Jesus! So beautiful. My first owl looks like a cross between Frankenstein's monster and a hummingbird. This is so inspiring.
Stunning, very well done Matt!
Many 😊
Many thanks 😊
This is so cool! How long did this project take? Love the Sorting hat!
Many thanks, it took about three days to carve.
Get a Skirt on Her and hope that engine isn't too heavy - stay safe
Cheers, yep, got the skirt ready to fit. Just got to refit the fuel tank and radiator and she's ready to fly.
Very cool and creative!
Очень нравится! Отлично!

How long do you let the live trees dry before finishing?
Normally I'd do the whole job in one go, but ran out of time on the initial visit and then weather etc, prevented us from finding a suitable time to complete it until now. I think this tree had been down a couple of years before I worked on it, but most of the time I work on stumps that have been fuelled pretty recently. The greener the better really. Once they start to season they get harder to carve.
Just so beautiful❣️Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Love ❤️ and hugs 🫂 from Scotland 🥰💙🌹
Nice carving.
❤
Супер❤
Amazing talent, anyone can learn skill but you are born with talent😊
Many thanks 🙏
Nice one Matt ,I am finding getting the eyes equal shape, size and placement difficult but I am sure that will get better the more I do.Nice tawny 🦉👍👏
Thanks, it's always difficult getting the eyes right. I do them lots of different ways, but it's just down to practice and patience. The trouble with eyes is that getting them right or wrong is what makes or breaks a sculpture quite often.
Thank you! Great video and great work! What you showed and told me helped me a lot! You have a great channel!
Many thanks, I'm so glad you like it and have found it useful.
Thanks Matt! Great video! I'm a beginner carver on the west coast of Canada and I work with Red Cedar mostly, so I really appreciate the tutorial. I'm a big fan of your work!
Many thanks for your comments it's always great to know and I'm happy you find the videos useful.
Beautiful work Matt!
Amazing very talented
Many thanks 👍
Fantastic work Matt
Thanks 👍
Excellent, not only the actual carving and attention to detail but the imagination, foresight ,and planning of the scene. One very talented guy.👍👏👏👏
Many thanks for your comments, it was certainly an interesting project!
Outstanding work
Fantastic job
Great work
Matt I constantly learn so much from your videos. The layering of feathers, detail work, tools you use are such a resource for me. I’m constantly referencing how you carve and am learning so much. Thank you again for passing on your knowledge. Huge fan from Blind River, Ontario Canada.
Thanks for your comments, it's great to be able to pass on what I've learned and am still learning. I've got lots of projects in the pipeline, so I'm going to try and do some more videos focussing on specific techniques. Best wishes.
thanks bro!
You're welcome, hope it's helpful.
Another cracking carving, and I really appreciate the extra time you took to show the detail and explain the process. Thanks Matt.👍👏
If I can help others by sharing what I've learned, that's the best part. I'm still learning every day.
Thanks Matt, very useful. I always chicken out of using the saw for the details!
I used to be the same, but lots of practice and it gets easier.
Thank you, This is a very helpful tutorial on feathering. Great Job!.
Glad you like it
Hi Matt, it's shame the focus wasn't the best for this one.How about doing slow motion feather detail on video. Thanks.
Thanks, I do have plans to do a video focussing on feather detailing from start to finish.
SOOO COOOOL
On tik tok it states commissions are closed. Is that forever? Or temporarily? Very interested in your work.
Are you sure you've got the right tiktok? My commissions definitely aren't closed.
@@mattdargechainsawpowercarv358 I am not sure. Somehow when I clicked the TH-cam link it sent me to your TH-cam channel. Michael jones chainsaw sculptor was the one I was looking for. Sorry
@@soobturbo2006 no worries, I know Mike very well, great guy, very helpful and I'm sure he'll be reopening commissions at some point.
amazing Matt! your detailing really give your carvings that extra wow factor..
Many thanks, it's all in the detail!
Hey, Matt. I don't know if I'll continue watching your videos. I feel like an idiot who doesn't know anything. You're a master
I learned by watching other people, and still learning now! .....every day's a school day!
Amazing work
Wow Matt! I just finished a perched barn owl based entirely from one of your previous videos and I’m going to do another one in flight after watching this video. You are an inspiration thank you for these videos!
That's great to hear, I'm so glad you find the videos useful.
👍👏
Beautifully done, the proportions look spot on!
Thanks, it came out quite well.
Very nice 😮
Nice work! How do you like your MSA 300 so far?
Many thanks, it's a great saw, plenty of torque, but for blocking out on carving jobs, it goes through the batteries too quickly. Used it for cutting up firewood the other day at got a lot longer use out of it.
yeah, there's a lot of info about msa300, but mostly about it cutting up firewood and i would use it mostly for carving, i guess you would need at least 3 batteries, specially when carving outside in the winter time :) Thanks for the heads up! I guess i'll stick with my old 261 :)@@mattdargechainsawpowercarv358
Wonderful work, Matt! Thanks for sharing!
Many thanks 🙏
That was awesome, nice space to carve in as well
You really inspire me
Thanks, that's great to hear and really is what it's all about. I've only been doing this for five years and managed to make a full time business out of it. So it's great to encourage like minded people to push themselves and see where they might end up. Good luck on your carving journey.
Sure appreciate that. thank you@@mattdargechainsawpowercarv358

Wow, now that is a fish, definitely the one that did not get away!!
Thanks, think it's one of my best fish so far.
A great piece Matt 👍
Many thanks 🙏
