Dude you won't believe what not car guys do. Like start the car and go in the first and change the gear at 3-4k rpms the car hasn't been started for 15 seconds. Like JESUS that's why so many cars have problems. Honestly if you let it warm up , change the oil when it needs to be done , all you need to be careful with is electrical problems and other minor things...

Thanks for being real about this! I see content where people try and claim these are easy to maintain. I'm glad you honest and give people a realistic idea of what needs to be done to keep these on the roads.

I owned mine from 2007 to about 2018. Didn’t have rod bearing issues since I warmed it up completely before going above 3500 rpm. But my abs module fail twice which was really annoying.

Where are you going to get a F1 inspired V10 that revs to almost 8500 RPM? Start with that question and you end up in super car territory where maintenance is indeed very expensive. Very few people are dedicated to keeping S85s on the road. I’ve owned my Interlagos M5 for ten years and I’ve only seen 6 or7 others on the road in my city during that time. No doubt even fewer now as they age and get parted out. Newer M cars are fast, but they don’t have the sound of the V10 and their motors are so ugly BMW hides them under a plastic cover. Thanks for doing these videos on the last naturally aspirated M5 that will ever be built.

Former 2006 M5 owner, US. This looks to be an SMG car, any issues thus far? My car decided it wanted to eat its internal oil pump, right around 60K miles, bye bye engine. I loved that thing when it ran well, which unfortunately for me, was rarely. I do wish you the best with your beast!!!

You do know that you can upgrade the idrive to the next gen stuff right? Everything will integrate in, no hacking or cutting anything. That 1 mod alone brings the car right up to date.
