Magic 105's Tommy Smith on KATV, May 1990
Magic 105 (KMJX/Little Rock) morning host Tommy Smith was hit in the face with a pie as part of a gag involving Ron Sherman during KATV-TV 7's "Daybreak" program in May 1990. KATV aired a clip of that during its evening news program, followed by some happy talk among the anchors.

A sendoff ceremony was held outside the Arkansas state Capitol on Sept. 5, 2024 for a statue of Johnny Cash, destined for the U.S. Capitol. It is to be unveiled on Sept. 24. Each state has two statues on display and many in recent years have been replacing previous statues. The Arkansas Legislature voted in 2019 for Cash and civil rights leader Daisy Bates to represent the state.
Casey Kasem mentions KHIG in Paragould, Ark on AT40

Listening to a vintage American Top 40 episode on satellite radio on August 10, 2024, I heard Casey Kasem do a shout out to a station I worked for. The program was from the same week in 1978, and when Casey said “Every week American Top 40 is heard in our 50 states and around the world on such great radio stations as…” he included KHIG in Paragould, Arkansas. The station was put on the air by t...
Cleaning up freight train derailment in Emmet, Arkansas
มุมมอง 8K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
A Union Pacific freight train derailed on Saturday, May 25, 2024 near the town of Emmet in southwest Arkansas. The following day when I was at the site, a large scale cleanup was underway. Much of the cargo that spilled were boxes of Mexican beer, with the sound of breaking bottles and the smell of beer in the air. On May 29, in response to an email I sent to Union Pacific spokeswoman Meg Siffr...

Thank you Rosanne.
man Casey Kasem. What a throwback. I landed in America in 1995 and spent many cold Arkansas nights listening to him on my Sony Walkman radio barely understanding English. He played music that was already hits in Europe which I always found funny how long it took for them to make it here
Thought this was a Johnny cash tribute not a political advertisement for the over paid underworked Unions of the FD/PD. They do this all the time. Then they want higher pay through sympathy.
Do you have any videos featuring The Mr. Men Show? A live-action/cartoon hybrid show airing from 1997 to 1999?
Escuche la emisora desde nicaragua años 1965 a 1973 ponian buena musica rock de la epoca
Johnny cash é maravilhoso ❤
This is no different then Chicago today 😂
Anybody remember Carolyn Jones, a blonde singer on the Dewey Ritter show around the sixties? She was kind of a Dolly Parton on local tv.
Wow, how Beautiful.. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I Love you Rosanne, Tommy, Joann, Johnny, June Carter, and John Carter and all your family. I was honored to have met Tommy Cash at a concert of his in Sandstone MN. Wonderful Music.❤❤
It was weird to see Lisa Baldwin to toss it to reporter, Steve Simon as both of them are married. Baldwin and Simon both moved to Houston, afterwards.
KKPT is vanilla radio, Beaker Street was Clyde was too challenging for listeners that think Jimmy Buffet and Bon Jovi are edgy.
All this technology and we still move stuff using 1800s technology....replace people at jobs with robots....making robots to get rid of jobs....hoe about come out with something to get rid of railways....
Are you related to Road Guy Rob?
Also was carrying many brand new gmc trucks
I guess no more Modelo time lol
Loved this station. Will stay up late at night just listening to albums and mystery theater.
Nice video. That's alot of crushed boxcars and too bad about the beer but there will always be more.
Move out of the way with your face. The video is about a train, not you.
That used to be Missouri Pacific Railroad and I worked for them . I worked a derailment at the same location back in 1979 or 1980 . It was in December and very cold . We burned crossties to try to stay warm . Sleeting and rain made it miserable . Tough 5 days and 4 nights that I was on site and worked without rest , I was able to sleep in my company truck after they got the trains running but not much rest . Still a lot of work had to be done after each train as the track would settle and have to tamped and brought back to a safe condition without the low spots that would allow the train cars coming uncoupled .
Ah it's ok, just Bud Light😂 oh Modello!
that train is the MEGAS, Its a Beer train.
We were driving home from Hot Springs that Sunday afternoon trying to do some train spotting videos and that’s when we drove down the line in emmet and saw that. That’s absolutely crazy but at least it’s beer though.
Now, that's some serious alcohol abuse. Hope everyone is ok
I was going to say the same thing. 😂
FJB AND DEMS !
FJB couldn't make a road trip from the White House to here with out crapping his pants in the first 21 miles....so what does he have to do with it?
Hope nobody was hurtt to bad union pacific wasn't delivering Miller beer or Pabst blue ribbon beer
Can everyone who posts/writes about this please do your research or at least pay attention to the town signs and spell Emmet correctly? Those who live here would really appreciate that at least.
Yeah, the State Alcohol Control Board sent ONE agent to keep track of the beer. What was he going to do if the entire county had turned out to take the beer? Arrest everybody?
Hope the beer doesn't get in the river there will be a bunch of drunk fish.
Ya, cuz we all know drunk fish don't bite no hooks
Very good coverage on yet another sad derailment. We have some bad curves on the freeway here in Milwaukee and a couple times a year a truck tips over spelling beer but this sheet volume is astounding
Should have saved some of the beer for the clean up crews.
Count from 1900 to 2020 on derailments then count from 2020 to present and see what you get. Bet you see a huge magic trick
Better the beer, for the residents, than toxic chemicals.
Is this back when the news stations in Miami had reputable, unbiased anchors?
Doesn't look like the liquor stores will be getting their shipments of Bud Light.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Omg. That's my home town.
The bad news of that exact day was Johnny’s original band member Marshal Grant passed away that night. MARSHAL BROUGHT HIS BASS and played for the gathering. That night Marshal suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and died. During this same time period, I was recovering from my own ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke. I had been through five brain surgeries, and I’m alive. Three of my sister’s also had brain aneurysms. My brother is the only one that didn’t survive. I knew when I came out of my coma, that my mind wasn’t working like it should. That was the scariest time of my life, not knowing if I would even have a life. I’m disabled for life, and I’ve come a long way. My first therapist was to teach me how to get out of bed, and get dressed. I had to learn how to walk, talk, and even eat. All from scratch. I even had to mourn my mother’s death a second time. Globally complete amnesia!
Johnny cash é maravilhoso ❤
It's an AMAZING statue
Hi. Do you have any more vintage newscasts from WSVN?
I have a few more tapes of the morning program from that same time period in the fall of 1997, but that's it.
@@hibblenradio okay.
@@hibblenradio you should post thier coverage of the Marlins 1997 items
John was a country boy. If they want a statue, it should be in Nashville. DC's full of liars, John was not a liar.
It's not the family that wants a statue, but the state of Arkansas, which has decided by law that it wants to be represented in the Capitol by civil rights activist Daisy Bates and singer Johnny Cash. This is a great recognition of Johnny Cash's artistic and socio-political achievements by the people who still love him.
Thisvos a o awesome ❤❤❤
Next thing you know, Elton John, Lady Gaga, and that water skiing squirrel will have statues in the Capitol
the fact you used a real name and not something whimsical like Lauren Lane
Billy Workman, Sunshine Sue and Johnny’s son was my best friend in 1950. We rode the school bus together and had lots of 10 -year-old kid adventures. One included shooting bullfrogs on the farm where I lived, dressing them and taking frog legs to Sue, who loved them. ❤
Forgive the pun were you one of the many who got “totaled” following clear channels acquisition of Metro/Shadow in the early 10s?
Thankfully, I wasn't still working there by that point. I only worked for Metro Networks about a year, first in Richmond, Virginia, then transferred to the Miami office. I was eager to get back to being a radio news reporter, which had been my background, and got hired by WIOD in March 1998. Metro was great in terms of providing a lot of exposure on a lot of stations, especially when I had just arrived in a large market like Miami, but I didn't really enjoy reporting traffic.
Same as Detroit. 55 minutes and mostly crowd sung. Still worth it
I took a road trip to see him the night before in Detroit Love Al!!
Before Michelle Tuzee made the jump to KABC-TV.
