I lived in Dyess Arkansas and my parents worked the fields there and our first house there was the old pool hall in the center of town. A wonderful place back in the 50's and 60's.

@@wildestcowboy2668 probably 35 miles from Memphis on 55 . Of course West Memphis is just across the river from Memphis then you hit Marion north of WM on 55 north and do not speed they are know as a speed trap. Saddly Dyess
and surrounding towns Joiner, Bassett, Osceola and Blytheville have just gone to ruin. The Town of Wilson has been bought out by a Billionaire and he has gone in and cleaned it up so it might be something to check out it and Dyess are same exit if I remember right. You probably know the country Singer Buddy Jewel is from Osceola his grandmother was a good friend to my family when we were in Dyess she care for me and my siblings and help my mother through a bad case of Phenomia in 1961. We had the pleasure of Johnny. Cash attending our country church there in Dyess in the early 60's. Don Bass the wrestler was my first cousin he passed in 2019 he grew up in West Memphis and lived out side Marion Ina small town of Jericho I think was name he taught wrestling in his later years. His mother and my mother were sisters. So I have quiet the connection wit the area. Hope you enjoy your trip. Do check out Beal Street and Elvis Presley's Home in Memphis. Hot Springs AR. Is a great tourist attraction as well it's maybe 180 miles from West Memphis off Interstate 40 . Safe travels 🙏

It’s amazing to me why the cash family didn’t do anything to the property and let it sit there in decay.till somebody else stepped up outside the family said hey we should save this old house for a memorial to Johnny cash. Such a shame.but I am glad that somebody cared enough to do what they did so It can be appreciated by others.❤️

I remember my family picking cotton like that in West Texas even in the 1960s. I remember the depression stories from my grandparents. This was awesome preserving Johnny Cash and his family's home. We need to preserve history. Thank you Arkansas State.

The bad news of that exact day was Johnny’s original band member Marshal Grant passed away that night. MARSHAL BROUGHT HIS BASS and played for the gathering. That night Marshal suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and died. During this same time period, I was recovering from my own ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke. I had been through five brain surgeries, and I’m alive. Three of my sister’s also had brain aneurysms. My brother is the only one that didn’t survive. I knew when I came out of my coma, that my mind wasn’t working like it should. That was the scariest time of my life, not knowing if I would even have a life. I’m disabled for life, and I’ve come a long way. My first therapist was to teach me how to get out of bed, and get dressed. I had to learn how to walk, talk, and even eat. All from scratch. I even had to mourn my mother’s death a second time. Globally complete amnesia!
