    i started off playiny classical nylon strings, im 14 and i obviously dont have big hands so my guitar is 3/4 but im lookint for an acoustic. Would you reccomend the f310 or cd-60 ??

      Hello! A great question which I get asked a lot 😃. There isn't a large difference in them. If you already play a 3/4 nylon string I would actually recommend a 3/4 steel string either the Ibanez V44 Mini E or Harley Benton GS. I haven't played either, but having a quick look at some videos of them and they seem like great choices. Make the learning process easy! Moving from nylon to steel will take some time because the string tension is roughly double. So one step at a time. If you play 3/4 nylon then get a 3/4 steel. Then think about full size when your hands have full grown. And it's important to remember, you never need to play full sized guitars. I have using a cheap Tanglewood Sapling many times live and I really enjoyed playing it for many years. Warm wishes from the north and if any of your friends would be interested in the channel then please share some of my videos with them. Have a great day.

  • @CarlYota

    You can fix the tension problem of tuning down to E by using high tension carbon strings. D’Addario xtc46ff for example.

    i used to play my guitalele with a tuning and recently switched to e tuning and i do like it but you're right.. it's different! even though i also play normal e guitars all the time.. i guess i have to relearn a bit.. still love my gl1 because it's always with me :)

      They sell strings for E tuning on the GL 1, something I didn't know when I made the video, so that can help with the tension. Great that you like the gl1. I am considering buying the Yamaha F310 or the Yamaha FG800. Which one would you recommend? And Why?

    • @soundtuition
      @soundtuition 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, and welcome to my channel 😀. With guitars like many things you get what you pay for. So the fg800 is the more expensive and higher spec instrument. If the extra money doesn't mean you can't eat then I'd get the fg800. I would always buy the best instrument and then enjoy the quality. But if you just want to give guitar a try and think you will either sell it soon or buy a better one, then the f310 won't lose as much value and you'll be able to easily sell it on if you price it correctly. Hope that helps. I would also recommend trying a nylon string yamaha cs40 if you don't have super large hands and if you are a complete beginner. Easier to play to get started. But nylon strings give a very different sound... hope that helps. Warm wishes

    What is by your opinion better yamaha f310 or fender cd60?

    • @soundtuition
      @soundtuition 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A great question. There is something maybe I find nicer aesthetically about the cd60 if you are playing more rock and pop. And maybe something more "folk like" about the f310. But maybe something a bit bigger and warmer about the f310. But they are so similar that you could just flip a coin. I don't think there is a clear winner. If I had to buy one of them and only one, maybe I'd get the cd60. If you can get a better deal on one than the other then I might let that make the decision. Hope that helps and I'm always grateful to anyone who shares my content with friends and family. Warm wishes from the North.

    Excellent review, thanks for making it. Curious if you’ve tried the D’Armond Tone Boss sound hole pickup. I currently have an M80 on order and in transit to me, but at $280 US relative to the Tone Boss (about which I’ve heard good things) at around $80 US, I am second guessing my choices. It’s going into a 1965 Gibson LG-1, a small bodied, ladder braced (so somewhat more treble-y perhaps) guitar. I am NOT a professional gigging musician but I do play live every once in a while - singer/songwriter genre. I should also note, I deliberately want a sound hole pickup because I like the retro look in a vintage guitar. (I have other acoustics with factory piezzo pickups so I can get that sound when I need it.) So… M80 good choice? Cheers

And classical guitar has been my main style my whole life. I have a degree in classical guitar performance from the RCS. But I have played and taught most styles from jazz to industrial metal and all things in between. It's one of the main things I love about guitar. It is such a diverse instrument. No one needs nails to play guitar. But if you play nylon string it might be worth experimenting with. I hope that helps. Have a great day

    • @soundtuition
      @soundtuition 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the comment. And that's a great question. As always, it depends on your goals. If you think you will play both ukulele and guitar for many years, then maybe even a 3/4 guitar like a yamaha cs40 would be a good choice, unless you have super small hands. That would get you into the "guitar world" fairly cheaply and easily and also things like, if you are ever somewhere and need to use someone else's guitar and they have a full size, then it's not going to be as difficult as if you were used to a 1/2 guitar. If you think you want to play ukulele mainly and maybe just try guitar with the possibility that you will decide not to play it for many years, then the GL1, left in "ukulele tuning" (in A) would be easiest and you can still play from tabs. But the tabs won't work with the original recording. Or you could get a 3/4 size guitar, tune it in E and then put a capo at the 5th fret and you basically have a ukulele (just with 6 strings). If that's too many options and you just want me to give you one option. I would buy a yamaha cs40, in standard tuning (e) and then just dive in. Any help growing my channle by getting friends to subscribe is hugely appreciated. Have a wonderful day and thank again for the comment.

      It's worth the time invested. All music only has one note at a time or notes together. When you understand why the note choices are the way they are music gets a whole lot simpler. Still difficult, and still epic, but simpler!

    Just watched another video of this instrument where the person changed the strings to D'Addario XJ45 then tuned it to standard guitar tuning with great results.

      Great to hear. We're they EJ45s? As a gew people have pointed out they also make strings designed to be tuned to E for this instrument. I have them on my shopping list 😃.

    I've owned so many guitars, if a random soul asked me what acoustic they should buy, without any other information, I would confidently point him towards this F310, the neck is beautifully worked, I know it will perform, it will be durable(good luck breaking it on accident ^^), it will stay tuned, and possibly make you sound better than you deserve, hehe. I just took a chance on mine, in a hurry, I rushed in, spent 15 minutes looking at the best of the best, then was handed this by someone asking me to tune it for him... I ended up playing it for about 15 minutes(sorry dude), and I was ready to shill out the $400 or so I thought it would cost, omg what a mind fk, doubts flooded as to why it was below, very far below what I expected... zoom to a year later, never a second of regret! The only other guitar I've felt this way about was one special Baby Taylor that my friend had spent a lot on perfecting as his travel go to guitar. Such big timber goodness from such a light, but tight body, with bright starry highs, and bellowing lows I wasn't used to hearing in such budget friendly acoustics. I don't know why I feel so positive about his acoustic, I've had Yamaha's in the past, 6 and 12 string, but nothing's had this feel like a friend that's always ready to get and have fun. Just get one, what's to lose?! Omg, the price can't be any more perfect Oo

      Great to hear such a positive story! I opened the case if one of my guitars the other day and the bridge had broken off. There is a picture on my TH-cam feed. 2,000e guitar 🤣. But it is 23 years old this year 😄. Always greatful for people sharing such a nice story. Always greatful for help growing my channel either by subscribing or sharing any of my videos with friends. @@SeekingTruth2023 The portability is a lot of fun. The narrow fret spacing means I struggle with chords more than expected. On the black version I had to do a lot of cleaning up on the fretboard because of some unsightly residue. The frets also needed a lot of polishing. Overall I don't regret the purchase but I couldn't imagine this as a main instrument right now.

    If there is a musical sound, it then has its beginning and its end. These two things are moments in time, which can be detected and written in some form of notation, so that someone could perform this sound on an instrument, using that notation to reproduce the very RHYTHM of that musical sound. It may be a weird rhythm, a complex rhythm - even an uncomprehensible rhythm, but still A RHYTHM. We take even a single note, no matter how long it is - then we hear it, and we can perceive its beginning and end with our ears. Then we connect those 2 moments and BOOM: we have organized 2 separate moments in time which are connected to some musical sound. This is literally the very idea of RHYTHM. This means that any produced sound has rhythm in itself, as well as any combinations and sequences of sounds. They all are bound to be within some rhythm, whether it's constant and simple or too complex to be notated. So, maybe some music without any sound? Like 4'33 by John Cage? It's a piece of music that has no sound performed by a performer - but what about the environment? May there appear some sounds that were not intended neither by the performer, nor the listener? Of course! So then a listener can perceive these sounds, which are organized into some kind of rhythm - spontaneous and unintended, but still a rhythm. Oh well, so then we put the listeners into the quietest room in the world that allows no sound to be reflected by its walls, or floor, or ceiling, and no sound is entering that room. The listener then isn't hearing anything - from outside, yes. But what about sounds that come from inside the body of the listener?.. So we swith to the hard mode. Let's take the listener and cut his/her ears off. This would assure that the listener literally CAN'T perceive any sound in audible form. Now we can play ANY kind of music - it won't have any audible rhythm. Unless we let that rhythm be perceived by a deaf listener through other type of vibration - the floor, for example, or the loud low frequencies bouncing into the listener's chest. The conclusion I can make here is simple: the music without rhythm is UNPLAYABLE and UNLISTENABLE.

    ABBA - Mamma Mia: start of the chorus, the Mam- and Mi- from the first phrase (note E both times). Greta Van Fleet - You're The One: start of the verse, the very first syllable (Ba-), note E Greta Van Fleet - Flower Power: first verse, line "Day by day by day" - the 2nd and 3rd "day"-s are E and B respectively ...and many other songs, these were just the first to come in mind...

      Great stuff! The B is definitely the most interesting. And I assume all the E's either become Ds or F#s on the following note. But very cool if they sit on the Es.
