Glen Alpine Falls | Lake Tahoe, CA-USA
มุมมอง 851ปีที่แล้ว
Glen Alpine Falls was definitely one of the big waterfall surprises of our trip to South Lake Tahoe. It featured an impressive drop that was about as wide as it was tall at 75ft. It also had underlying reddish rocks contrasting the rushing cascade's bright whites, making it photogenic. This was also a drive-to waterfall while neighboring other attractive sights like Fallen Leaf Lake and Lily La...

To one side you see the shi...

Back in the 80s, i lived in San Bernardino. My girlfriends and I used to go to Lytle Creek all the time. Once we were denied entry because a dead woman's body was found there, but that was our only misadventure. When I casually mentioned it to my therapist, she was horrified. She told me criminals regularly hide out there, and a friend of hers even stumbled across a ku klux klan rally once! Needless to say, we never went there again! That was over 40 years ago. Things may have changed since...

Local here. For those that aren’t local, it’s very very crowded there in the summer. The litter at the end is kind of telling of that and was very sad to see. One cool thing is that I did see mountain sheep on the rock river bed last time I was there. :)

Well you can't take a bad picture or video of Eagle Falls or Emerald Bay. However people need to stop adding music to videos of Lake Tahoe attractions. A couple points, There's only one Eagle Falls which is right next to the highway, it has an upper section which is a classic sraight drop waterfall and a lower section which is more of a cascading waterfall. You missed one of the best shots which is from the bottom behind Vikingsholm Castle looking up at the falls. Your video of the trail going into Desolation Wilderness is simply a hike along the river cascading down from Eagle Lake which is a beautiful hike but is not where Eagle Falls is located. Also you said that there's a fee to get a permit for Desolation, there isn't. There's a self permitting station at the trailhead for day hiking into Desolation and it's free.

For those interested in making the most out of their time, the quickest way from Las Vegas to Mammoth Lakes is via Highway 95 north for 170 miles to State Route 266 westbound to the small desert town of Oasis. This stretch of highway is desolate albeit uniquely beautiful, so be sure to top off the gas tank in the town of Beatty on Highway 95.
