I will come to Shaggy’s defence here, It Wasn’t Me isn’t meant to be a song that encourages cheating or lying to your partner, Shaggy is the idiot here. He’s saying you should continue denying things despite the irrefutable evidence. Fallin by Alicia Keys is truly one of a kind song.I absolutely love it!🤩Actually the way how I found out about the song was preatty sad but interesting. As I even wasn't alive in 2001,I obviously didn't hear it when it was at the top of the charts. But some 6 years ago during 9/11 anniversary I stumped on one video which described what was happening in USA in 10th of September just before 9/11.And one of the news was that Fallin' was released and there I heard a little snippet of a song and thought:"WOW!This is amazing!"😁Therefore I looked for the full song and since then I have always absolutely loved this masterpiece.😃

Destiny's Child - Independent Women, Pt. 1 Dido - Thank You Eve & Gwen Stefani - Let Me Blow Ya Mind Jennifer Lopez & Ja Rule - I'm Real (Murder Remix) Train - Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) Janet Jackson - All For You Alicia Keys - Fallin' See the problem is most of these songs have sentimental value to me so it's hard to judge them. But I do absolutely agree with what you're saying when it comes to production.

Destiny's Child- Say My Name 3. Santana and Rob Thomas- Smooth 4. Aaliyah- Try Again 5. Toni Braxton- He Wasn't Man Enough And the absolute worst (her worst ever imo): 20. Madonna- Music

It is quite telling that the overall list is around D tier. In general Billboard top N is pretty uninteresting imo. And very American. Breathe is more like Snore…

Groot takes on the world of music!! Had to jog my memory with a handful of these. I'm quite surprised that in 2000 there wasn't a single hip hop entry in the top 20, but I guess those will pop up in the years to come. Quite a sleepy year overall if you ask me. Of the artists in this list that had longer careers, Pink stands out a lot as she completely ditched the R&B stuff she entered the scene with and went on to make much better pop all throughout the 2010s. Try Again and Say My Name would be my favourites from this list EDIT : Out of curiosity I took a look at 1999's list and there are SO MANY BIGGER HITS! If you feel like squeezing in an extra list you should definitely do that one!

I enjoyed this video. However, American mainstream tastes are odd (as recent events confirmed) and so far away from mine that unsurprisingly I only knew five of them.

Ok, I'm so interested in this. I spot a lot of bangers here. Let's see if you will trash my favorites. I guess I should mention the songs I'm familiar with. Christina Aguilera - What a Girl Wants, what a girl needs - is a banger. And I'm glad you said you like Christina because she's one of my favorite singers. And no you won't see more of her songs, they weren't chart-toppers sadly. I recommend her song called "Save Me from Myself" It has a really nice production and honestly the entire Back to Basics album is great. Madonna - Music - I personally do enjoy Music, but I guess it's not your cup of tea. 😆 P!nk - There You Go - ah yes, her R&B era, I'm an R&B fan, so I like this one too. Destiny's Child - Jumpin' Jumpin' - I'm starting to question my taste since you absolutely dislike all of my favorites haha. I do acknowledge that the production of this one is very poor, but it's still quite catchy IMHO. Aaliyah - Try Again - I knew you would like this one because it was produced by Timbaland, one of my favorites. Toni Braxton - He Wasn't Man Enough - is a banger. Oh no, you hate it. Well, I see it's gonna be a theme haha.😂 Destiny's Child - Say My Name - is another banger, you have to like this one. Again R&B fan, so it's up my alley. Santana & The Project G&B - Maria Maria - another banger. While some of the songs on this list aged, this one still sounds great. Santana & Rob Thomas - Smooth - same with this one. Overall it's a great list of songs. You know what I was thinking, do you remember the medley "Sweden, 42 Years In Music In 4 Minutes" from ESC 2016? You should rank those songs, would be a fun watch. And if you need I have made a Spotify playlist with all the songs.

Zedd & Jeff Buckley - Dream Brother gave me chills, I'm so listening to that right after the video ends. I've heard the new Linkin Park wasn't that good, but it sounds fine here, should probably check it out. Wait, when did Zedd get so good, "Tangerine Rays" also sounds so good. "Silencio" sounds so cozy. Awww Talos ❤ Btw I meant to ask you, do you know Apashe? I was listening to his music and it's so Grooty coded. If you haven't I recommend "Kryptonite", "Lord & Master", "Never Change" (normal and acoustic versions). The production is very intriguing in my opinion.

The two that jumped out at me were Flipturn - Juno (Love me some dream pop), and Partrick Watson & November ultra - Silencio (A lovely Latin lilt) : BTW is there some sort of Linkin Park retrospective going on? Once was more than enough, surely (?!)

as a brit it would've been embarrassing to not get 100% on this - i took 6 minutes and 19 seconds, although one of those minutes was entirely spent wracking my brains to remember 1991. my faves from the UK are 1977, 1988, 1989 and 1998 (although honourable mention to Beg Steal Or Borrow for being the one that's grown on me most)

Yugoslavia is one of those countries I never pay much attention, but when I listen their songs, they bring me joy. I think my favorite is the 1962 entry, but again, my knowledge of the language is really limited and I had a really frustrating experiance playing the quiz. You did really great! I knew nothing about Yugoslavia in ESC before you started your Watchalongs and my my they delivered! Easily one of my favorite Eurovision countries. I almost had the entire top 10 consisting of Yugoslavia in the ESC top 250 voting. You did very well! Now they need to remake the quizzes to include 2024 so you could start all over 🤣

I got 65 the only song I missed out on was 86 and to be honest I didnt remember a single lyric or note from that song so that never helped.

I got 58. I should have gotten 64 and 80 but missed those 2. Others I missed where 1966, 1979, 1986/87 and 1990/91. But those 6 I didnt remember at all.

Oops. We really do not agree here, neither on specific songs, nor on the general charateristics of this selection. Imo, the delicate, varied and sometimes surprising instrumentation is this selection's strongest point. But then, I have never been a huge fan of polished and slick instrumental arrangements. Well, celebrate diversity!
