is it possible that your window isn't wide enough to see it? i just checked and it looks like it doesnt shift the column of checkboxes when you resize the window -- it just cuts them off.

The image should move separately from the mask with this setup, so hopefully that part is working. If the image is moving with the mask, it might be parented to it, so maybe just disconnect those. After the two are not connected, you can move an image straight down using your arrow keys. You can also twirl the image layer down or hit 'P' to reveal the Position property. Position has two numbers in it... for X and Y. If you click and drag on the second number, it will adjust just your Y value (up/down). LMK if you need more help. We can jump on a quick Discord call or maybe I can do another video. This one needs an update for new AE versions anyway. :)

Found it. For anyone having the same issue, just right click on the header, choose columns, and add the missing ones.

Glad you were able to find it! yes, they moved it to the "Modes" column, next to the different blending modes like "multiply" and "add" It also works differently now and allows you to pick any layer as the matte source, not just the layer above. There are two buttons next to this layer selector, one allows you to toggle between Luma or Alpha matte and the other toggles between regular and inverted.

You could add a path to the shape layer and draw the mask there then turn off the rectangle... or make a new solid that is comp size and draw the mask on there. In any case the main thing is to do it on separate later not just a mask on the main image layer

Sounds like you're in the 3D tab, which is right above the Secret one. (I feel so ridiculous calling something the secret tab. Why would they do this??? Lolol)

​ @Alzena Fedora if you're seeing it, you should be able to click on it. are you not able to click on it? the items you described in first comment are part of a different menu in preferences called 3D. in the list of menus, that is right above the Secret menu. So I think you just need to click on the correct one.

I've had that happen when i don't hold shift long enough. Are you holding it down from before click all the way until the window shows up (which can take a few seconds)? It won't show on the menu where you open preferences so just hold shift while you click general

I'm not sure when the console was introduced. You could certainly try shift + f12 to see if it opens up. If it does I bet you can find this same setting.
