I saw the original Star Wars when it was first released in the UK in December 1977. I watched in awe during the opening moments of the film as the star destroyer filled the entire screen and seemed never to end. I was hooked, the film was new, fresh, exciting and for me (like a lot of us) life changing…

I could imagine Peter humorously calling me a naughty boy too for recently buying the Hot Toys 1/6 scale figure of Grand Moff Tarkin off eBay for.. well, let's just say it wasn't cheap(!), but the fact that it represents such an iconic character, played by the wonderful Peter and has one of the best - if not *the* best head sculpt likenesses ever produced by that company makes it a wholly justified purchase for me! 😊
Whoever has the film, they should send it in to a proper scanning place (like Pro8mm) and get something it more archival than a wall recording.
Now I realize-I’ve seen “the Eye of Sauron” before.!.. Jabba’s Eyeball!!!!
You know Peter Cushing's got it when he can reduce Wilfrud Tarkin to nothing more than a impertinent school boy
I remember it! we had it on VHS. One of the classics of my childhood.
Flash Gordon went into Star Wars tech. Great stuff!
The story of making the first Star Wars film is almost as good and groundbreaking as that film was.
I grew up down the street from here, crazy.
Darth Sidious ASMR
General Ackbar?I thought he was Navy not Army😉
Don't stagger until he tells you!
This is great - too bad they didn’t film an event told in the book - where a rep from Fox showed up to check on progress, and found them all having fun using a forklift to smash an old refrigerator.
Love that they had real elephants
Greedo *is* Joe Lycett.
Someone colorize this please.
Only Roger Corman could fool Christopher Plummer and John Barry to work in this "toys 'r' us" space opera. Even Hasselhof and Caroline Munro seem to big for this pos, haha! Apparently even Ray Harryhausen was hired? Even in the "so bad its good" area, movies from 70's, 80's and 90's beat the hell out from all the CGI garbage we watch nowadays.
'Ole Marjoe certainly has a "diverse" resumé. 😂
People today will look at this and say, ''Wow! People sure watched some rubbish back in the day''. But back then, we knew this was awful.
him and alec guiness made the movie amazing
Happy Star Wars day May the force be with you
The Jabba puppet will always be more intimidating than CGI Jabba.
1000% yes.
And more realistic looking. That puppetry was incredible.
@@Buskeeeeeeee That too! 🩵
WHAT COULD HAVE BECOME STAR WARS WITH NO F INTELLIGENCE FOR DETAILS AND CREDIBILITY. AND WHEN YOU THINK IT IS JUST A PATHETIC IMITATION ONE YEAR AFTER THE FIRST MASTERPIECE FROM GEORGE LUCAS, WHAT A SHAME!
3:14 the entrance into the second Death Star is different. Its just a rectangular opening
Wow so THAT’S why he’s wearing slippers! I was always wondering what the hell was up with that😂
What a wonderfully mannered man he was.
Better than the Acolyte
Agreed 😊
How wonderful. His sheer class, his kindness and his sense of humour shine. It’s funny that I never saw this interview before 2024. 😊😊😊
Renamed because “Jedis don’t take revenge” (contrary to popular opinion)
That might just be the best of many George Lucas impersonations!
With the background noise "on" you can clearly hear it's filmed in England ! When luke walks in and says "What?"..it s more like he did not understand the cokney accent when walking into a local pub 😅.....and Greedo speeking English !! This is priceless ! Really interesting insight into the making of a classic film!
This is better then the Acolyte for sure!
Agreed 😊
The set design is actually nuts
You have to feel sorry for David Prowse, he knew his own voice wouldn't be used, and it's actually funny to hear his British accent in the suit. The crew of Episode IV took to calling him Darth Farmer because of his west country accent.
Cheap models, 1960s special effects, deep cleavage, Christopher Plummer, "Star" in the title... who WOULDN'T want to see it!! The only thing missing is Roller-Disco LOL! In the era of 2001 and Silent Running, makes you wonder who green-lit this one?!? (and why Christopher Plummer said yes). I think I'll go watch Dark Star again.
It's no Battle Beyond the Stars
It’s better than battle beyond the stars🎉
@@only257 no way.
He didn't look it but he was like 6 feet tall. You can only tell in Star Wars.
Man they were more blaster-happy than Han Solo!
He sounds so much more competent about star wars than all of the acolyte actors during their intervies in 2024.
Luigi Cozzi is a lovely man. I bought a great book off him a few years ago in Profondo Rosso.
For all of it's flaws, I love weird quirky shit like this, and I think the world of cinema is better off having fun shlock like this between all the huge block busters and forgettable crap.
What a snitch! That dude has to get capped and buried in the Dune Sea.
Laf, lotsa skin showing from the ladies, and full body onesies for the guys. Looks about right for the 70s. And 80s. Maybe the 90s….
If this is not proof that Han Solo cold bloodedly "oofed" Greedo... it was clearly premeditated.
No le sabe al lore 😂
Why the hell is this video flipped? Afraid TH-cam will pull it for some b.s. copyright reason?
Made by third graders during recess after lunch.
This movie is totally insane. It's like Star Wars on Acid 😃
Marquand sounds like a real dick
I always feel like these wide camera shots without the light saber effects always look better and way cooler than the final product…
