Hailing from South East London, long time friends Benz and Tef have created Think Twice. Born out of heated discussions and debates about what is or isn’t morally bankrupt.
The Morality of Kindness S2 Ep9
What is true kindness?
Is an act kind, if it also serves you?
Are you born with kindness or is it something you learn?
This week Benz and Tef grapple with kindness, morality and tough love.
They start by discussing how to judge the moral virtue of an action through the lenses of consequentialism, deontology and virtue ethics. The conversation then addresses how much of kindness arises in humans naturally and to what extent it is a learnt behaviour. The episode ends with a tricky dilemma which tests the boundaries of your kindness.

So good guys 🎉
He grew up in the poorest town of Mississippi (Tupelo) and lived in the “ghettos” because of being with a single mom for a long period of time. He created their families money to get out was just influenced by what he grew up in. The “black struggles”
BS Lmao
He needs to get educated on Elvis cos he doesn't know what he's talking about...Elvis and family did struggle...
This is total BS!
You've got to be kidding. He just loved music of all kinds. He brought people to the music that would not have listened to it on their own. Think before you speak. Because your showing off the bad side of you.
Actual bullshit
I watched a few videos on this channel, and the problem with this brother is that, he is clearly articulate but continuously positions his opinion as fact. There are words for that: dogmatism or pontification, for instance. I would suggest that my brother either comes with receipts to support his arguments or preface certain statements with " in my opinion",you understand? Love though.

You can tell you’re both young. Too focused on Group identity instead of individuals and their struggle. So black peoples who are the descendants of slaves, but their family has since become wealthy and upper class, can their kid do music talking about the struggles of black culture? And you paid no consideration of redemption c
Great discussion as always!
Solid episode 🎉

the segment on suffering was really impactful! my kneejerk was no, ofc I'd rather ppl not suffer, but defining suffering as not huge traumatic events, but things/events that cause you to question yourself was really interesting!
🙏🏾🙏🏾 Benz was onto something there fr
Proper good conversation 👏
👏🏼
Rawls posits that from behind this veil of ignorance, rational individuals would agree on two main principles of justice:The Principle of Equal Liberty: Each person has an equal right to the most extensive basic liberties compatible with similar liberties for others. The Difference Principle: Social and economic inequalities should be arranged so that they are to the greatest benefit of the least advantaged members of society, and offices and positions must be open to everyone under conditions of fair equality of opportunity. These principles aim to ensure a just and equitable society by focusing on fairness and protecting the rights and opportunities of all individuals, especially the most disadvantaged.
I think if you're hiring and one person in your friend. The most ethical thing to do is to get someone else to do the interview/hiring.
Any suggestions where one can begin their journey into philosophy?
There are a lot of good short and easy to read introduction books on Philosophy. Our favourites are ‘A little history of philosophy’ and ‘what does it all mean’. Let us know how it goes 🙏🏾
I suggest philosophize this. It’s a great podcast
On the topic of redistribution and merit. If we look back to the pandemic, you can see how people were treated based on what they did for work and how the money didn't translate to their importance. Those of us who were deemed "essential works" saw an increase in our workloads but not the money we were getting for it. These are people who were normally looked down upon for doing bottom of the barrel jobs, but they were the same people keeping society running. While people in board rooms weren't contributing anything.
Why am i still on the 7 burger thought lol
😂😂
Great video guys! Loved the point of Stoicism is a philosophy that is most useful in rough situations because as you mentioned, it was created in a time of major adversity (Hellenistic period).
A brutal time indeed.
Very well put. So how do we change the world 🫶🏼
we leave it the way it is cus it’s common sense. that’s like normani saying why am i not earning the money beyoncé makes?? cus you’re not beyoncé simple 😂 sharpen your skills. there’s no such thing as equality in the grand scheme of things it’s a stupid concept
In Asian culture Japan/China that kid would of brought shame on his family name. We need to realize who we are competing with.
Factsss
The brits never sold slaves from benin it was fhe benins that captured and sold the slaves ,and yes the brits did steal the bronzes and are sending them back now .
When it comes to moral relativism the best way to understand it is that what is moral (ie correct action) is relative to the desired outcome. Should statues of slave owners be taken down? It depends. What it depends on is what the statue communicates. Should statues of "bad" people remain up? If we follow this to its logical conclusion ever statue of every person must come down. I think the question is much less about "was this person good" and much more about "what is this piece of art communicating?" It's about nuance over black and white thinking. Can you recognize the positive contributions someone has made, while at the same time recognizing that they were flawed. As an example Thomas Jefferson contributed greatly to the founding of the US, and much of his contributions were positive. He was also a slave owner. It's not an either or situation. We should praise his positive contributions, while recognizing his failures.

I can guarantee if the UK gave everything back and started to focus on its own heritage and preserving that. All the industrial towns and cities that helped create the revolution, preserving them and the factories, we'd be called racist! We'd be called nationalist and right wing. I'd rather give anything and everything back. Some African idol isn't my heritage, the coal mines, the steelworks, they are. We're simply too far down the rabbit hole.
And you have entitlement to say what Britain does. So i ask you, who the fuck do you think you are.
I would rather someone save artifacts and historical pieces then they be destroyed are you actually listening to yourselves... It's nobodies to destroy either it's history. Weird AF times we live in...
my niggas i like this
He misunderstands how to implament it and how
You may as well say I want to be a British gentleman
Nah stoisim isn't about lackiing emotions, it's about not beiing over reactiive and taking tiimie to process your emotions in the long term rather than being implsive, and it actually makes life much easier once your able to do it cause you can avoid a lot of problems and drama.
Emotions lead to bad decisions
Great content! I saw your TikToks and had to check it out in long form. You are really good at making this stuff interesting. I think this is what "alpha male" podcasts would like to be. Im sure you guys are f***ing up some peoples stereotypes out there. I would love to see more of that.
And Im sure youve heard it before😅 but this has to get way more attention!
You get it 🫡 we appreciate it you! Send the video to some friends, we’re getting there 📈
Stoicism is about being emotionally mature, it seems he doesn't get stoicism at all.
