ELEGOO SATURN 2021 - FIRST SETUP, PRINTING AND VAT CLEANING
After waiting quiet some time for them to become available, I got the ELEGOO SATURN.
An affordable 3D printer with a huge build volume of 192 x 120 x 200 mm...
It ships with a 4K monochrome LCD display, so the resolution is still very high even on a build plate like this.
Also the monochrome display creates incredible printing speeds, so that it only takes 1-2 seconds per layer.
Printing is a bit messy compared to filament printers, you really need to wear a mask and gloves and printing indoors is really not recommended. The printer should be situation in the basement are in a garage, also good ventilation and a steady room temperature should be considered as a essential factor for your setup!
I was a bit underwhelmed by the difficulties of printing mechanical parts, but I will try different resins and exposure times, that could sort out some of the warping problems I experienced. Also design choices are important.
A very good starting point when looking into designing functional parts might be on this site ameralabs.com/blog/3d-design-parts-sla-3d-printing/
So all in all resin printing seems to be fun, but I guess my trusted filament printer will not get retired yet!! :)

    May I ask: Is there any reason for the three linkages to have the unnecessary bends (that look like fake joints)? Or is it just to look cool? It seems that straight linkages would be less likely to interfere with any attached item that might have a wide base, as they wouldn't rise above the top plane of the mount.

      This is because the body used to generate the circular pattern is included in the tools collection and it's later used as the target body in the combine method. A simple hack is to add a line to remove the target body from the tool bodies collection (last two lines below). ... for b in circularFeat.bodies: ToolBodies.add(b) # add this line to remove target body ToolBodies.removeByItem(body1) ... Fantastic design, It Looks so excellent and professional. But can you show more about SPM Kinematic and how to apply it? I guess got more feedback angles from Unity and forwarded them to your controller. Thank you so much! I look forward to your reply.

      Yes everything of the inverese kinematics is calculated inside of Unity, but I have not touched this project in a while...might eventually go back to it soon though!

    So inspired me!!! I'm doing a simulation project of the Orbita in Unity. However I'm stucking in how to make the model move the most naturally like you did. Could you help me to clarify how you make the uncontrolled arms move? Do you just move the 3 controlled joints and let physics do the remaining? Or do you calculate all the joints, then move them to "fake" the uncontrolled motions? Thank you very much

    • @swannschilling474
      @swannschilling474 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to ways to do this, the first one is using articulation bodies. So the whole mechanism is basically being simulated...they other one is an IK rig. I used the IK rig in the end, because it was more stable than the simulation, but both ways are equally legit!

      @@swannschilling474 Thank you very much for your kind suggestion. I've already had my STL files. My problem is with the Unity simulation. I used the Articulation body but don't know how to deal with parallel model like SPM, because Articulation body seems cannot deal with loop kinematic. I'll try the IK rig as you suggested.

    What that green stator is made of? Is that a metal or plastic? If metal is it ferromagnetic?

    • @swannschilling474
      @swannschilling474 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I can tell it is just coated metal, I don't think it is ferromagnetic because the magnetic field would disturb the electromagnetic field that is being build by the copper wires...but that is just my idea, correct me if I am wrong! ☺
