Song mode on EP-133 / K.O. II
มุมมอง 6K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
#ep133 #ko2 This is my suggestion to getting a semi song mode on the ko2 ALSO NOTE: all your fader automation that you record are saved per pattern so you can also leverage that to really make each pattern be it's own unique thing

What external did you use to be able to draw it?
This would sound so dope in a stealth game. Gives a Metal Gear vibe.
You suck
Great one subscribed for more model cycles songs. FM Synthesis is so emotional in my opinion. Have a good weekend
thank you very much! i'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I'm working on a small alubm release which will be a collection of all of my model cycles songs (both the ones i released on this channel and other unreleased) Will share more updates once things become more finalized. thanks for subscribing and have a good weekend 🙂
@256k_ ok sounds good Im waiting for it
Did you know that the MPC comes with a sequencer so you don’t have to do that? Kidding :) keep up the practice
Another great jam. I like how you are taking these simple (not in a negative way) themes and just playing around and showing off how versatile the Cycles can be.
thank you! i appreciate it very much 🙂
Great track! I loved where this webt
nice trip🛰
Very cool.And that grid zero!
thanks! it's actually an older grid from 2012 🙂 has a walnut wood back. i love it so much but the new zeros are soooo cool
👍👍👍
weird, but i like it! what script is that?
What instrument is that?
It's a DIY version of the Monome Norns. It's called the Norns Shield XL. Think of it as a music / sound computer that runs small scripts that do unique things. One might be a synth that produces sound, a sequencer that connects to a modular, or a simple distortion effect.
@@onesuavestudio thanks I'll look it up 🙂
That is bad ass!
thank you monhomie <3
This is Music..❤
Dope
Solid gold!
when he tried to put batteries in I went like NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO lmao
good day, what is the button type? thanks
Hi bud..awesome video.. im using my launch pad mini to trigger all 64 pads individually for each slot/sample? My question to you is - How did you map the pads to change colour? So if slot 1 cell 1 is red and not playing how do I map it to change colour to become green so I can see its the active pad ? Then if I change to slot 1 cell 2 the first pad goes back to its original colour then the second pad becomes the active colour? Cheers for sharing your awesome work.. 😊👌
hi! thanks for the kind words 🙂 it's been a long time since i've owned this launchpad or used tracktor but from memory, when mapping using the traktor mapping there is a way to send a signal back for each button and the colors are divided along the 127 step scale, you would have to experiment to find the right color and shade, i believe each color had 4 intensities.
Great great great and deep
Daft Punk WHO
WOOO
slapper
It's insanity how they forgot / omitted being able to link scenes together; I'm on day 2 and almost rage quitting!! it could be sooooooooo good fingers x'd for firmware - Thanks for taking time to make this video I feel less on my own with this quirk now :)
I'm positive TE left that out on purpose and I think it's very unlikely that they'll add it in future updates
Not sure if this is what you mean but you can commit scenes and then modify them
Mine was a batch 2 shipping. And came in a box with padding and not in a plastic bag like this dude’s. Mine works perfectly. Go figure. And the fader had a black notch already on it. So, didn’t even need the fader knob they provided.
Is this actually 300 usd bro? Im from argentina and have a frien over there and was considering getting one
Thanks for this coverage. I compose my songs with Korg ds-10+ but nanoloop has interested me for a long time. Seeing this makes me want to delve into it more.
This is smooth as hell.
glad you enjoyed it ;)
Useful info thanks!
This sounds great. I already wanted one and this just seals the deal. Thanks.
The schematics are too confusing. Can you make a tutorial?
Any probs with your knob?
TE makes my favorite stuff
agreed!
I believe this is the point of the ko2. Forcing producers to be creative and fing thr workaround. Good job budd
what’s with the audio quality? That thing has a lot of interference issues.
Tu m'a tué ! Bravo en tout cas.
So much static out put
Just keep adding bars and change the pattern. No scenes needed
I guess that's why they allowed 99 patterns per group, and 99 bars for each pattern. Plenty of space to work with.
this this is a space echo itself .. still waiting for mine to arrive that thing is so powerful and creative !!!
Just groove, not a song
That's the opposite of a song mode lol. A song mode allows you to press play once and grab your guitar and sing (or whip up a salad) while the machine plays through the entire song. The patterns are there for people to use this thing live. You can still have a poor man's song mode by using a single scene. TE missed the boat by not allowing you to tie the scenes together so they play sequentially - that would be a song mode. But the 99 bars in a single scene should work fine. EDIT: you're the guy with the cool grooves!!! I realize now you were trying to answer my very own question. Since then I've realized you could use that 99 bars limit
hey yeah i know it's not true song mode of course, but that doesn't mean it wont come at a later date. i mean even the Digitakt took years before it got song mode. this is just a helpful way to "arrange" a project in a more "song like" structure. 🙂 the 99 bars thing is also a possible solution although more cumbersome, different ways to get to the same goal i guess. thanks for watching 🙂
@@256k_ My pleasure, I'll keep watching for those solid grooves. The name is of your channel is perfect for remembering. Clever!
still no shipping info i doubt ill ever get one even if i do imma just send it back now shit way to launch a product
yeah i understand that the launch was quite the clusterfuck for sure, but this is a great device non the less extremely fun and immediate and gratifying. i hope you can look passed the bad launch and appreciate what it is for the long term. 🙂
Would you be so kind to make a video for someone who has no knowledge of music making, completely new beginner who doesn’t even know what is chop, scene, project, or anything but want to use this machine to learn from scratch? I know many people bought this as their first machine but even the most basic “tutorial” on TH-cam requires some basic music knowledge, and people who are really new have no clue what to do after power on this machine. Any help to understand the basic, explain each button and what exactly they do would be a great help to brand newbie very very much. 🙏🏼
that's a great idea. thank you for bringing this point of view, i had never really considered that people new to music making would be buying this but you're absolutely right. I'll do my best to create a more comprehensive tutorial for beginners using this machine. 🙏
@@256k_ hey thank you so much for your prompt and positive reply, I don’t usually think of this when it comes to new machines but this one from TE really seems like a entry point for many, given the design and price point, reading posts on forums and subreddits I found many people actually have no knowledge but bought the EP-133 because how good looking and least intimidating it looks among others, and want to dip their toes in making beats and what not. Thank you in advance and I will be sure to share the video!
If it comes with a manual you could go through it. It helps you understand the machine and also the world of sequencers. They all do the samething...
😏😏feels like this is how the unit was to be used EXACTLY I assume we will get more midi stuff like program change to change scenes, or some cc. thanks for the tutorial!
yes you're absolutely right! i wanted to have a simple explanation that brought this structure to light as i think a lot of people were confused about the concept of patterns and scenes and sample groups. it's much more aligned with MPC workflow and i know that not everyone is familiar with it. glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
If these KO-II’s require surgery and a tune up fresh out the box, I’m curious to see what they will look like in 6 months with light usage! 🤣
extremely scratched up screens that's for sure! hahaha
Yes please go more in depth with more tutorials regarding scene and song mode. This was super helpful!
The scenes are cool because they allow you to build up variations of your beat in an easy way. But you have to switch manually from one to the next. In an update they might allow you to tie them together so an entire song plays through. You can work around that by using a single scene and having as many bars as you like up to 99, which is more than most songs
Thanks for making this tutorial! I really like the performative aspect of this and it would def keep me on my toes as I perform. Can't wait to try it out. x3ela
Shame that there's no scene chaining, or at least play through all scenes automatically. Thanks for vid.
im sure this is something they could easily implement in a firmware update. fingers crossed!
@@256k_ still noting changed right?(
That's what scenes are for, it's not song mode this is just what it's supposed to do. Beats sounds cool btw but couldn't hear it much
thanks, it was just a lil demo to explain this concept. im sure for many people this is obvious but i've spoken to a few people who didn't really understand the whole scene structure and were confused so i made this to explain it to them
People harp on this machine, but it's one of the only machines to be made for the reality of shorts creation. You need a tasty 1.5 minute jam for the gram every day? Welp.
exactly. and even just for one's own personal enjoyment. not everything needs to be super top notch studio touring quality and does every thing. not everything needs to be a DAW in a box, just like not everyone is a professional touring musician. some of us have normal lives and jobs and just enjoy music making as a hobby and this is perfect for that.
oo nice idea w the preemptive scenes
