HxH has some of the least impressive mystery and lore to me bruh lol, linear ass plot. Honestly I’m surprised you said that. If you want real a real complex sense of mystery and lore read D.Gray-Man. It’s a shame it never got a nice reboot like HxH did cause it would be huge rn. Another great series cursed by injuries of the author and hiatus.

I think comparing them is interesting, but they are very very different. HxH is catering to a way more mature audience and is much harder to digest. Not sure who here read the manga, but it's a very very different experience. HxH characters have a level of depth and complexity, that almost no other publications in this genre even come close to, One Piece is pretty notorious for being the exact opposite. Characters have interesting backstories, but they are carricatures at heart. I can't recall a single instance of one of the protagonists having a meaningful or interesting conversation or monologue. Storytelling in Hxh is very unconventional, the typical good vs. evil narrative is being subverted many times, which makes it all the more interesting for more mature audiences. Again something One Piece never tried, it is very conventional in that aspect. What makes One Piece great and what is similiar to HxH is the world building, there are interesting power systems and an incredibly large world that feels very alive with many mysteries to explore. Something more modern anime/manga suck at.

Even though i like very much HxH, to compare to the big 3 is too mutch, unfortunately the manga never had a big fanbase or sold a lot of copy, the reason was because the volumes release was too far apart nearly 1 volume a year, so is hard to follow the story ( i know that is because he had a lot of health problems) and also sometimes some panels are bad drawn (i know that after they are redrawn but they leave you a bad impression)

It's about Manga sells not TV shows, HxH was manga was out in 1998 ten years before big 3.

I think one piece is great, but in terms of the quality of the story, it's not the best, even in the big 3. Naruto had an overal better story but one piece impact wise and longevity over time has made the story look like its better without being better. I dont think the best moments or arcs in one piece are better than the best arcs or moments in Naruto or bleach or Hunter x Hunter.

Hunter is one of the best shonens, but one piece anime is borderline unwatchable, manga is much better

After wano arc You can witness true power of One Piece story. Also it may look repetitive but all those arcs are connected with extremely detailed storyline. And this is why HxH cant take on One Piece.

It's pretty fair criticism, but it got covered by great characters and world building, Hunter x Hunter has some decent characters but there is only a few of them (Illumi and King Chimera are my favorite)

Pluto was definitely one of the best animes I've watched, especially since it's so dense with content in each 40 minute episode. It makes it all the more enjoyable! The author was ahead of his time but I'm so glad it got made into an anime recently.
