Coming back a year later, I find the Xion flashes ironic when one remembers from Re:Mind that only 4 out of 6 characters were actually brought from the past while the 5th was just recreated from scratch, and the 6th is more or less made from the present day version of our time traveler.

KHIII is about Sora, is the peak of his journey, "The Power of Awakening" is a metaphor for his growing up, and ofc his theme is to emphasized. This game is so fucking beautiful.

I have no idea if you will even see this, but I feel this must be said. Thank you very much for making this video. Truthfully, when I began playing Kingdom Hearts 3, I felt it best not to make assumptions beyond what I already knew which is why I found the game enjoyable including the ending if a bit unexpected. True, not everything in the game was necessarily perfect nor the way I would do things in the story if it were mine, but that is to be expected with any storyline. To be honest, the only thing that really disappointed me about the game's ending was that Sora disappearing felt more like a defeat than a victory at the end, I knew that they would be facing new enemies since this was the end of Xehanort's story only but still. I thought that it would give more of a sense of victory similar to what I felt watching the credits of Kingdom Hearts 2 (back when I didn't know there would be more of a story and even replaying it). Now that I know Sora will be back, I feel better about that. Still, while I was surprised by the final assessment of what Xehanort was trying to accomplish, I attributed that to the fact that he has always played his cards close to his chest and so I felt that he never truly trusted anyone enough to tell them everything, even the versions of himself working for him. The game to me, seemed to do a wonderful job of making the characters confront old enemies and old demons, a way to measure their growth and say goodbye to some of the characters in a sense. Each member of the true Organization 13 seemed to effectively wrap up their part in the story at least as the individuals that they were. With Xehanort outside of his younger self, it seemed as though his heartless and nobody almost seemed to reach a sense of peace, of catharsis in their final moments. Much like Xehanort himself, they acknowledged the growth and the strength of their opponents, and I have always found that I like antagonists who do have respect for their opponents. Your assessment about Xehanort, the parallels between him and Sora, and the events leading up to his defeat, truly put into words what I would not be able to do. I feel that ultimately Sora, Riku, Kairi, and the others will be stronger and better for having been through this adventure despite the hardships and difficulties along the way. I am probably rambling, and I apologize if my thoughts are not straightforward as I would like. I suppose in the end, Xehanort's heartless truly said it best, this part of the journey is over, and it is time for us to move on. So in my final words of this possibly absurd comment, I just want to say, thank you and very well done.

My headcanon is that YX yoinked Xemnas from right after his fight against Sora alone, then Xemnas got the armor right before being sent back for final fights

My friend, your video made me realize how much the relationships "Xehanort-Eraqus" and "Riku-Sora" differ! Xehanort wanted to understand darkness, while Eraqus was standing by his belief that light should be protected and rule over Darkness. Their beliefs were conflicting to the death! As for Riku and Sora, like they are, they didn't know what the Darkness and Light meant to them. They cared for each other despite the power they obtained (the Keyblade and the Darkness...). Eraqus has lost hope on Xehanort (losing their friendship in the process), which cost him his life in the end, while Sora never gave up on Riku, rewarding him a way back home together in KH2. Though I still do not like how Xehanort handled his time loop for his goals, this is a very well developed essay about his arc and closure.Thank you for sharing! 👏

How am I just now finding your KH3 videos? I have been saying had the best pacing and world design since the game released, I started to feel stupid because so many people seemed to hate what they were playing, and I still can't understand it. I'm convinced a good portion of this community let their inner child die in the years between kh2 and 3. Hating kh3 is imo the same as hating joy.

Thank you for making this. The Aqua theme on its own (no matter which version) is so soul-crushing for me and I can never listen to it without feeling depressed. But because this one has a triumphant comeback by the end, it doesn't leave me feeling hopeless. Aqua needs so much more love and closure. I always felt like in the games, she obviously cares way more for Ven and Terra than they do for her.

I just noticed that the cutscenes are edited in actual chronological order. I also noticed that your point of Xemnas being moved forward in time by YX is the same as my headcanon! Always thought that would be the perfect time to be whisked away into the future.

Good video although I honestly pretty much disagree with most of the points made in this video. To me, it felt like the misunderstood Thanos approach Nomura had with Xehanort was just cheesy. Something that always appealed to me as a kid was how truly dark kingdom hearts felt at times, I don't believe KH3 captured this, possibly may be that I've aged since the release of KH, and although I enjoyed many playthroughs of KH3 I wish the writing/story grew with it's audience.

I've been waiting for this kind of video for most of my life and i find it on accident. Thank you for putting this together.

Dude absolutely love this video!!🤙 Xehanort is one of my absolute favorite antagonists of all time!! His obsession to kingdom hearts and the keyblade war and in the end his conclusion to his arc is quite depressing the more I think more critical about it. He’s an amazing written character!!! I hope he will be in the future games in some way

This video seemed like a perfect recap for me after it being a while since having played and seen other people play KH3 and I wasn't disappointed! The thoughts you put here about how much more cohesive the pacing is compared to other games in the series I think rings true when I think back to other games

It's been a solid two years since this video came out and I'm just finding this channel because of a bird post but this video should have way more views as it really brought together what I realized upon seeing this cutscene for the first time!!

Organization 13 is one of the saddest songs not in context of every scene perhaps but in context of the organization itself. Each member. Their goals. Their role in each game. The tragedy of what a nobody is. The lie xemnas told them. Some saved. Some not saved. But in 2…. ( final mix kh 2 my personal favorite rendition ) in the context of the blind loyalty they have, the dark fates, the acceptance of not having a heart. And in the end… all of them… gone… like they never existed… of course they all came back but ultimately not all came back with a heart. And the cycle continues for such tragic characters. The song absolutely is in my top 3 favorite songs in kingdom hearts in general!

Sora's victory theme from Super Smash Bros: Ultimate is also a rearrangement of Hand in Hand. It's a short one, but a rearrangement nonetheless. It was actually rearranged by the series composer Yoko Shimomura herself, as stated by Smash director Masahiro Sakurai during the Sora in Smash presentation.

I admit, when KH3 first came out I was a bit disappointed. I didn't HATE it, but it didn't hold the same specialness that other KH games held for me, especially 1 & 2. But after sitting on it for a few years and replaying the games, much of that initial negativity is gone. I realized it was mostly nostalgia blinding me (especially after waiting 9 years for the game I thought might never come). It really has grown on me and there are a lot of aspects of the game that you brought up that I think it did equally if not better than other installments. Super excited for the new arc being built up in KH3, KHUX and Dark Road, and eager to see what KH4 will be like. :)

I can see this medley at something akin to the distant worlds concerts for final fantasy. Beautiful musical retelling of Roxas.

I don't know if this has been said, but isn't "Fight to the death" Xemnas' theme too? Kinda was expecting it to be here but it's still an amazing collection regardless!
