"non sum qualis eram" is defined as, by the merriam webster dictionary: _non sum qualis eram_ _non sum qua·​lis eram ˌnōn-ˌsu̇m-ˌkwä-lis-ˈer-ˌäm. : i am not what i used to be._ the origins of the phrase come from horace's _odes iv 1_ : the full line directly translates to "i am not as i was in the reign of good cinara". however it was popularised by the poet ernest dowso, as they appeared in his poem _non sum qualis eram bonae sub regno cynarae_ . a lot of his works are very longing, he was writing during the decadent movement which could be why his writings have very similar themes. both of his most popular poems ( _cynarae_ being one of them), start with quotes from horace. slightly off-track, but ernest dowso was notably influenced by french poetry! he was even a translator for paul verlaine, interestingly enough! which i'd argue also contributes to how he writes. regardless, dowso's poem is rather blatantly about infidelity - but it focuses heavily on the speaker longing to be who he once was. if you're to look at the poem from another perspective, cynara could represent everything he once had. she haunts his every waking moment, leaving his present-self as an afterthought. i think this song captures that interpretation very well. it has a very haunting feeling to it, as if looking in a mirror & seeing a ghost. i can 100% see it being in the background as a character finally self-reflects. that moment when they realise they're too far gone to go back. now... i can't quite end this without acknowledging the pop-culture references that "non sum qualis eram" has appeared in. it notably appears in mark z. danielewski's _house of leaves_ , which i feel i would be remiss not to mention. i'm not an expert on house of leaves, but if i recall correctly it was truant's mother who started this ever-lasting thread. she repeats the phrase over and over, to the point where it's what truant says once he feels is truly losing it. "it" as in his sense of self. which i'd say fits in with this song quite well, too! but i might be looking into this too much... so oops. sorry for the long, rambling comment! i just thought very hard about it. tl;dr i like this song a lot it is very cool and very much worming its way into my brain :3 EDIT: fixing formatting (italics) b/c i forgot how yt comments work. lol

been listening to this for the last 2 days, amazing.

The vocals are too quiet compared to the music in some places, and the backing vocals are too loud compared too the regular vocals. It doesn't seem intentional. A better mixing process would fix this. The lyrics also seem somewhat rambling, like you were trying to cram too many phrases/ideas into one song. The result is lyrics that feel incomplete, amateur, and overall do not flow well together. The only linking factor is an overall theme and the "What the hell?!" in the chorus. In general, the music sounds samey and it's difficult to tell when one part of the song ends and another begins. You definitely have potential as a VOCALOID musician, but you're still at a somewhat beginner level
