Hello, I was just wondering if this could be made the day before. The milk mixture is only heated for a short while, and then the milk is infused with the onion, bay leaves, peppercorns, onion etc. for three hours without it being placed in the fridge. Is this safe? I'm just concerned as I don't want anyone to develop food poisoning because the milk has been left out for such a long time. If the bread sauce is being made early in the morning and I wish to re-heat it at lunch time, presumably I would place it in the fridge until then? (I have a feeling that we would prefer to have it served warm). My friend finds cloves (and nutmeg!) overpowering even in small quantities. Would it be fine to omit these spices or will the bread sauce taste bland? I'd really appreciate your advice please. Many thanks.
@richardchin2633 yes absolutely, it keeps well in the fridge for a couple of days as we make enough for leftovers. Leave out the cream until you reheat it and it'll be fine! I've not tried it without cloves, I think I would add a little salt to compensate possibly. Let me know how it goes!
If you enjoyed this recipe, check out my favourite cheese straw recipe here th-cam.com/video/jF48e7wFjj4/w-d-xo.html It's the perfect cheesey snack!
Mozzarella is my favourite cheese so i will definitely be making these & since i live alone i will eat them all in one go 😂😋
@dawn428 yes, that's the way to do it!

@littlemochef I appreciate you watching, thanks!
You should do a kimchi fried rice episode since, as everyone knows, Korean recipes are the best.
@@micheldwson They are :)
Looks great be nice with Gruyere.
Gruyere would go really well
Yes I make this every Christmas 🎄 love it I’ll try using your pepper corns and bay leaf
@ronaldworth4146 would love to see what your recipe is!
@@DadliciousEats The same as yours without the pepper corns and bay leaf . I cut a large onion in half and stud it then infuse in milk and a splash of cream season salt pepper
Never heard of this but I am intrigued & I am allergic to onion but all rest of ingredients are ok. What could I substitute for the onion?
Thanks for watching! You could just leave out the onion and the other flavours should compensate. I've not tried that but would love to find out how it goes!
I use finely cut chives and parsley.
@KHKH-os6kt that's a good idea, will try it!
I used to do pepperoni ones with my sister they were her favourite
@laurenb8875 that's an awesome addition. Will give it a go!
I love these easy finger food ideas for taking to dinner parties. So much scope with different cheese flavours. This one will be going to holiday get togethers.
Thanks for watching, glad you like it. I've got another one coming out on Monday that's great for taking to parties!
I've just uploaded my cheese straw recipe. I think it's even better than this one! th-cam.com/video/jF48e7wFjj4/w-d-xo.html
If you freeze the bacon for about 20 minutes, it will cut much easier and defrost fairly quickly. Also, if you put a metal grid cooling rack over a bowl and press the cheese through it, those too will be fairly consistently sized. This looks yummy!
@@sharon94503 Those are some great tips, thanks!
Too much washing up! Metal grids, nightmare.
Thank you very much - you have given me an idea for Christmas.
@@RichardTingey would love to know how it turns out!
So no sausage recipe, no pastry recipe. Egg yolk should be used to seal, no water. What's the point in this? Plus, clean your fingernails you dirty get.
Have to try this thank you 😊
@@IreneCuthbert let me know how it goes!
do the bottoms cook through or are they soggy?
They do cook through nicely if you don't slice them too thick and the cheese isn't too moist. Mine came out fine. Thanks for watching!
Look , this is still looking good , but this is mac and cheese with extra steps! We are far from Carbonara! But yeah it probably taste good though. If the kids eat it I guess mission accomplished 😂!
@philipdumont1478 thabks for watching! The only thing different from a true carbonara is the addition of a slight bit of cream. What recipe do you use.
@@DadliciousEats well you want 3 egg yolks and 1 full egg. You add pecorino cheese until the mix becomes a sort of paste and reserve for later. You cook around 200 grams of pancetta ( don't use bacon because it makes too much fat). Cook your pasta (Penne our spaghetti works well for presentation) and keep about a quarter of a cup of pasta water at the end (that's important for the sauce). Now when everything is ready you put the pasta unstrained into you paste and you mix well and keep it moving as you are adding some water you kept. When everything looks nice and coated you add the crispy pancetta mix and serve immediately!
yeah that's awesome but holy shit that's like 500 kcal per piece. Eat 3 and lose a year of life.
I'll eat the whole pan worth...(American btw)
It's worth losing a year to eat them haha. Thanks for watching!
I would rather eat to death, than drink to death. Bring it on!
You only live once, live life, eat what you want ( in moderation ), and stop living your life in calories. I nearly lost a sister because she was obsessed with counting calories even to the point she even tried to work out how many calories were in a lettuce leaf ... you got life live it !
Looks delicious. Greetings from Canada.

Have you heard of Taco Bell? Best Mexican food ever.

WOW ok now I see your in the UK. I am from Tucson Arizona, United States of America Southwest USA , Border with Northern Mexico, we have Mexican food many versions I encourage you to look for recipes from the Southwest Arizona and New Mexico Carnitas are Great Dish , I can only guess how hard it is to get items to make great Mexican food but look into ordering online maybe you can find some great deals to make you a great Mexican food maker....
Thanks for watching the video, I appreciate it! We have very generic ingredients in the UK but there are a couple of websites we can order imported Mexican food from. Will definitely check out your suggestions, thanks!
They are called Tortillas - NOT TORTILLA WRAPS !
Ever used caramelized onion
@@Skipp28TN yes! That tastes great
Did you use a knife on a worktop?
There was a mat underneath, don't worry! Thanks for watching the video!
Given the chewy, flavourless tubes of glue that stores on this side of the pond call sausage rolls, I thought they were a whole lot more complicated and involved some sort of magic. Definetly going to try these out. Thank you!
@shermmit it's all about the filling really. Make sure its good quality sausage. Thanks for watching!
I don’t even know if they sell goose fat in Canada.
There are a series of Reddit threads for each city asking where to buy it.
@micheldwson duck fat works too!
Clotted cream? How to make it?
Thanks for watching! Clotted cream isn't particularly easy to make so I would always buy it but obviously it's not available everywhere. The best method is to take double cream (heavy cream) and gently heat it combined with some butter in a pan until it becomes thick. You then need to cool it down in the fridge for it to solidify. It's a bit of a laborious task to be honest!
@ thank you. I would love to try and make it. When I do I will let you know how it goes.
@ranns160 please do!
i like to throw a lil djion in mine but top notch stuff g
@@scenscoff dijon would be great in this!
The only difference between a scone and a biscuit is sugar.
We don't really have what you're referring to as a biscuit in the UK. I have them when I used to live in the US but yes, they are pretty similar. In fact, I like to make cheese scones, which are probably closer still to a US biscuit. Thanks for watching!
No probs thanks for replying.
You need to add ingredients and or put on screen what you are doing or adding as you go,hard to keep up otherwise, regards,John.

Looks good. I've been wondering about recipes that would make salmon taste less fishy...?. Usually just get rainbow trout. ~Panzik Artistry
First of all, thanks for watching the video! The sauce in this doesn't take on the fish flavour which is good so might be worth you trying. Rainbow trout is a delicious fish so it would definitely work. I think also, some cheese in the sauce would work which would help the flavour profile as well. Give it a try and let me know!

As they say up here in Norfolk - it was Bootiful 👍
Got a different version of this on the go at the moment, pear and plum!
I'm making a very similar dish, only with fewer steps. I just place raw potatoes, broccoli (and whatever leftover I have :D), and let it bake under some cover. Once it's halfway done, I remove the lid and add the creme and cheese. There are fewer dishes to clean up, and it's delicious. :-) Tho this recipe sounds just heavenly for some pasta night! :-)
