I don't understand the desperation of companies to interrupt beautiful music with their crass advertising. Put it at the beginning or put it at the end if you must, but don't insinuate your way into a piece in progress. It's a matter of decency versus indecency.

Used to think classical music was boring until my dad gave me a shortwave radio to listen to then I started to hear the good stuff like I'm hearing today! Now I'm talking about a kid living in the disco seventies and in high school!!!

The tamberines give an India flavor to the music and an uplift sound!!😅😅

Id rather blast my ears out with this than the modern tunes of today too inspirational to miss out!!

Florida does actually have great classical sounds and gets an old guy like me who grew up in the age of modern music very emotional! There is no other music that can move me like this! Beautiful romantic and relaxing!!

Delios was more than a florida orange grove tender he was a music master up there with Mozart and Tchaikovsky how magnificent!! So lucky a composer to music about florida!! Good US southern classicals😅

Houston is where I grew up, and although I never achieved the skill level to play in this orchestra while I lived there, I met and knew personally a few of its members. It's a truly great orchestra. The Houston Symphony released a few vinyls many decades ago on the Everest label with Stokowsky conducting. I never have understood why they haven't done more, because they are a superb orchestra.

A string bass can blend nicely with a wind ensemble - I speak from experience as player and conductor. Odd balance in this delightful performance - sounds like the horn player is in the next room, or out in the corridor. Good choice perhaps!

Todos los instrumentos "pesan" en el contexto de la música con peso propio. Pero, para mí, la "voz" del fagot, como la del chelo, suenan de una nobleza particular, diría que más humana. Este concierto lo pone bien de manifiesto

The recording used inside the original version/Workprint of Richard Williams' The Thief and the Cobbler, the prestine quality of the audio is amazing.

This is so good, I never thought I'd enjoy this as much as I did. I just listened to it because I've heard of it, what a wonderful piece, it just seems so real and yes, uniquely American.

While this rendition is admirable, I much prefer the performance of the Welsh Opera Orchestra which was reedited by Beecham. The audio of this rendition is tinny and harsh compared with the lush Welsh. I vacation every August in Emerald Isle and wait for the perfect sunrise at which time the delightful 'Sunrise' is played from the upper deck of our rental home. That morning(s) truly make the vacation all the more special!

He makes Toscanini seem like a pussycat!

IMHO a lot, if not all, of the Spanish character is lost. The percussive sound of the piano is much better in bringing out the 'angular' and darker elements of the music.

What year was this recorded?

A whimsical question perhaps but it would have been interesting to ask those people what Mahler's voice was like. (This question is almost never asked when recalling famous people of the past.)

I've got a copy of this Recording and I Consider this Performance as good as Constantine Silvestry's[1966 P1967 Recording]and it was Sir Thomas Beechams Grandfather who invented Beechams Powders and this Recording has Remained a classic of all time and Constantine Silvestry was a Romanian and was Born in 1913 and was a Nachonlised Britain in 1967 and he died of Cancer on Sunday February 23rd 1969 he was just 55 and he would have been 56 in that year and he made a fine Recording of the Beetoven Violin Concerto with Yehudi Menuhin in February 1960>[the Mono ALP-1799 Red and Gold]>[2 Stereo ASD-377 White and Gold]I Haven't got the Mono version nor do I want it but I have got the Stereo Version and I Reckonmend it to anyone as its as good as his 1966 Version with Otto Klemperer and three years after this Recording was Made Sir Thomas Beecham Died and whoever did this Transfer needs to be Congratulated as he or she has done a Marvelous Job in Transferring a Recording that is 65 years old

Beautiful 1st and 2nd movements. But unfortunately the 3rd movement is a bit slow and don't even get me started on the 4th movement, it's dreadful and unexciting. For all the praise the Beecham recording gets it is a very mid performance.
