Is this one better than Jabra engage 50 II?
how do you get it to prioritize your voice over the person in the cubicle next to you?
I just purchased these, they do a pretty good job however any clues why mine when I talk picks up some background noise but not when I’m silent ?
Hi, Thanks for the nice review. I'm considering the EPOS Impact 1060 ANC for both personal and business use. I know EPOS is excellent for business and call scenarios. I already have the EPOS Impact SDW 5066 for business use, but I'm looking for a pair of headphones for personal use as well. Mostly, I'll be using them for calls and music/videos. Does the NC work well in city environments, and is the ANC effective at blocking most background noise in such settings?
Hi, I use it in Waterloo station and coffee shops most weeks and works perfectly for me, Music is great considering it is a business headset. I don't think you would be disappointed. I hope that helps.
How do you mute?
Hi, you have two ways of muting the headset. 1. Lift the boom arm to the up position. 2. Press the volume button to mute. Hope that helps :)
Does it completely filter out keyboard noise as well?
It does yeah, if you buy it from the link and use the free shipping code "HEREHAR" (If you are in the UK) they will let you return it if you are not happy. businessheadsets.com/epos-impact-860-anc-binaural-wired-usb-headset/?___SID=S
i bought this headset to replace a failing motorola h730. people tell me that the sound is far superior to the h730. i do have a few issues with it. the on/off button is rather small and difficult to engage. the answer call button is also very small and in an obscure area to access, lastly, you never know when a call has ended until you get time passing in silence. other than these issues...i like it
Hi there, I totally understand where you're coming from with the H730. Personally, I found it too bulky for my liking, and after all this time, I still use the BH71 instead-while the Poly has been sitting unused on my shelf! I get what you mean about the on/off button, but for me, it hasn't been an issue. I actually like the LED lights and the firm click when turning it on or off-it feels satisfying and quick to flick. Because it’s smaller, I’ve also found I’m less likely to accidentally switch it off, which happens to me all the time with other wireless headsets! As for the audio end call tone, that’s a great point. I've actually reached out to Yealink to see if they could add it in a future firmware update. I’ll keep you posted if I hear back from them!
@@HeadsetsHearHere one other thing i forgot to mention...all the headsets with this type of form factor....seems to easily far off my ear with the slightest touch. it may be silly but i ended up teething it with a thin string. at least i wont lose it specially when i go fishing where its quite windy at time
If you're looking for a lightweight and secure headset, the Shokz OpenComm could be a great option. I personally use the Shokz OpenRun for the gym and running, and they’ve impressed me with both comfort and audio quality-especially considering they use bone conduction technology. While I haven’t tried the OpenComm myself, I’ve seen trusted reviews that highly recommend them. As for Yealink, I have an engineer investigating the possibility of adding this audio feature as a mobile device update. Your feedback might have just helped improve the product for everyone!
@bowieskeeter2126 I have had confirmation today, this will be a feature that can and will be added to the product. You will be able to update it here: www.yealink.com/en/product-detail/usb-connect-management Regarding when this will happen, I am unclear at this time, but I will let you know when I have that information.
@@HeadsetsHearHere thanks
Thanks for posting. My take on this is you sound like you're selling this for commission. I want to know what youre experience is when wearing this device under different conditions - laptop, mobile in windy conditions etc. Battery life? - Is it comfortable to wear all day long or for a couple of hours - in the office, walking around etc. How about a real useful review rather than a sales pitch?🥱
Chuffynuff, fair-e-nuff! The channel is new and finding its feet. Your comments are valid, and I will take them on board. My experience in the headset industry and my connections to brands and manufacturers are what spurred me to create the content. So, how it works so far: Some manufacturers, like EPOS and Orosound, send me headsets directly to review. I get to keep the headsets; however, it's my intention to give some away to the channel subscribers. It made sense to guide my viewers to a safe and reliable reseller. Businessheadsets.com, with whom I have worked for years, agreed to offer my viewers free shipping in exchange for promoting them, and they also supply me with headsets to demo. That's the deal. Some headsets, like one from a unnamed manufacturer, recently did not made the grade. I was sent the headsets free of charge to review in the hope of picking up UK resellers, via my Linkedin Network. The product was not great, with poor noise cancellation, so I stopped with the video for the risk of being sued, I would have been too honest! I am on hold with another new headset, which I am now helping to fix an issue before I make my video. This headset was sent to me directly by the manufacturer, and Businessheadsets.com will offer my viewers a good price and free shipping. I will try to cover some of the areas you pointed out. I love the feedback, so a genuine thank you!
Thank you for making this video!
More than welcome. Thanks for you comment.
I work from home and have two crazy dogs over by my neighbors...but my main concern though is i operate in a sws- secure workspace usb....will this affect the noise cancellation of the headsets microphone...i hate working in sws as we could use krispr ai for noise cancelling for the microphone....i appreciate your response and thank you in advance
Thank you for your question! The EPOS 860T Impact headset features built-in noise-cancelling technology in its microphone, designed to filter out common background noise, such as neighbors or barking dogs. This noise cancellation is part of the hardware and works independently of your workspace setup, meaning you don't necessarily need the USB adapter for it to function. However, I recommend keeping the USB adapter connected to another PC to ensure you stay up to date with firmware updates. I assume you have access to native Bluetooth on your PC? if so it should not be impacted by operating in a Secure Workspace (SWS) environment. If you need additional noise suppression, you could use software like Krisp AI, but the EPOS 860T should be highly effective on its own in most cases.
Is it possible to charge it with a USB cable or is it only possible to charge it with the stand?
Hi, the stand is great however, there is a USB-C connector in the headset, so you can charge it on the go.
Great review! The comparison tests are really useful
Thanks Patrick, much appreciated.
Do you know if it's possible to pair the headset with another? For say like training purposes?
Hey @kokyuu, Thanks for reaching out! EPOS is known for producing top-notch headsets with excellent sound quality and comfort, and while the EPOS Impact 1060T ANC doesn’t support pairing two headsets for training purposes, EPOS does offer other models with this feature. Alternatively EPOS IMPACT SDW 5000 series-including models like the SDW 5066 and SDW 5065-comes with a DECT base station that allows multiple headsets to connect. This is ideal for call training, as it enables supervisors to monitor or coach by connecting a second headset to the same base station. However, if you’re open to considering other brands, I highly recommend the Orosound Tilde Pro and the Yealink WH62/WH66 models. Both of these headsets also offer excellent training capabilities with multi-headset pairing features. You can find these headsets here: www.businessheadsets.com, or feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn to discuss further: www.linkedin.com/in/jonathannuttall/.
@@HeadsetsHearHere Thank you for the quick response. Your advice was very helpful, and I really appreciate the alternative suggestions. Apologies for taking so long to respond myself. :)
Not a problem and you are welcome
Hi, great test, thank you for sharing. I'm wondering if you used an included usb dongle and connected the device to pc. If not, would you be able to test this setup? The reason I'm asking is that I used many BT headset paired with windows and MS Teams, and the sound quality was horrible. I know that some devices achieve much better call quality when connected via dongle. Thanks in advance
Hey thank you for feedback @JakubMarekBanasiuk, and thank you for your question! You’re absolutely right to be cautious about using Bluetooth headsets directly with Windows and MS Teams, as the sound quality can sometimes be subpar. Manufacturers typically include a USB Bluetooth dongle to ensure better call quality and connectivity. In the case of the BH71 with Workstation Pro, it does indeed come with a dongle. However, this dongle is primarily for use when you’re away from your workstation, such as when you're on the go with just a laptop or mobile device. When you're connected via the Workstation Pro, which is hardwired to your PC/laptop, adding the USB Bluetooth adapter on top of that setup could cause some confusion and might interfere with the already stable connection. In essence, the workstation acts as a hub that manages all the connections effectively, and introducing the dongle in this scenario likely won't add much benefit. But, if you're operating without the workstation, using the manufacturer’s Bluetooth dongle would certainly provide a more reliable and higher-quality connection than using your laptop's native Bluetooth. Hope this helps clarify things!
I'm currently waiting for the Orosound Evo and was wondering how does the sidetone work on Orosound products.
Hey @emeresbestres1, Let me explain what sidetone is and how it works, particularly with the Orosound Tilde Pro and why it’s important, especially in a high-quality ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) headset. Sidetone is the feature that lets you hear your own voice through your headset while you're speaking on a call. Essentially, it feeds a small portion of your voice back into your ears, almost like an echo, but in real-time. This gives you the feedback you need to adjust your speaking volume without shouting or whispering. With an ANC headset like the Orosound Tilde Pro, ambient noise is significantly reduced, which means you might not naturally hear your own voice clearly. Without sidetone, it's easy to speak too loudly or too softly because of this "blocking" effect. Sidetone helps you maintain a natural speaking volume, which is important for clear communication, especially on calls. How Does Sidetone Work on Orosound Products? In Orosound’s Link software, you can adjust the sidetone from levels 0 to 5. This gives you control over how much of your voice is fed back to you. A higher setting means more of your voice is heard, which can be useful if you’re in a very quiet space or if you’re wearing the headset for extended periods. The balance sidetone provides ensures that you aren’t inadvertently raising your voice to compensate for the noise-canceling effect. For the Tilde Evo, sidetone likely works similarly, and you should be able to adjust it to your liking for optimal comfort during long calls or when working in a noisy environment. Hope that helps clear things up! Let me know if you have any more questions.
Hey I am having some issues getting the background noise to cancel out like shown in this video. Even with the ANS setting on. Are there only certain applications it works with? I called someone using facetime in my mac to test it and they said they heard all background noises.
Hey @Nomad_left_behind, This is unusual, and being a Mac user myself, I do often find things aren’t always as compatible as you'd expect. First off, just to clarify, ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) is not relevant for the microphone’s noise cancellation. ANC is an internal feature that benefits you by reducing background noise in your ears, but it doesn’t affect what others hear from your mic. I’m pretty sure the issue you’re having is related to FaceTime’s built-in noise-canceling feature (called Voice Isolation), which might be interfering with your microphone setup. Try turning that off and see if it helps. Here's a quick guide to do that: How to Turn Off Voice Isolation in FaceTime on Mac: 1. While on a FaceTime call, open Control Center (located in the top-right corner of your screen). 2. Click on the Mic Mode option. 3. From the dropdown, select Standard instead of Voice Isolation or Wide Spectrum. Give that a try and let me know if it helps!
It doesn’t sound like it cancels out much at all or am I tripping?
You're not imagining things, my friend. Noise cancellation significantly reduces sound, but it will never completely block it out. However, my tests push the device to its limits, which is why I compare it to a high-end recording device. This headset is truly among the best of the best.
Hello, nice review, keep the great work! Just received my one. Positive: comfort, noice cancelling, talk through mode, mic, all absolutely fantastic. And you can adjust to your preferences to make even better, in my case the default talk through was too high, after reducing, it sounds very natural. Negative: if you work in a hot environment (+25C), you may feel this is too hot for long use. I faced some weird experience with the sidetone, it stresses the "s" in some words. I don't see this issue in the talk through. I'm still testing, and I can say it's fully in sync, no delay, but it's a little annoying, also it's the fist time I have a headset with sidetone without delays, so I don't have any reference to compare, but if compared to the talk through, the voice quality (my own voice) is not as clear/good. Did you notice this issue with sidetone? Any recommendations? I think I will just reduce it to a point it stops annoying me, like 20-25%. Thanks
Be sure to get EPOS Manager app and update your device. That might cause issues if you haven´t. Very happy to hear that you are enjoying your IMPACT 800
Hi, thank you for the feedback. I believe you are using the Epos Manager by the reference to the settings above. I found this to be trial and error, but it was not difficult to find my level quickly (30% for my home office). For the benefit of others and not assuming your knowledge level. Understanding Sidetone and Talkthrough is probably a helpful start point. Sidetone This feature allows you to hear your own voice through your headset while you're speaking. It's useful for making sure you're not speaking too loudly or too softly, especially in noise-canceling headsets. Talkthrough This feature allows external sounds, like conversations or ambient noise, to pass through the headset, so you can hear what's happening around you without removing the headset. Adjusting Sidetone Volume Control: Start by adjusting the sidetone level in the EPOS MANAGER to where you can comfortably hear your own voice, but it’s not overwhelming. Test Different Environments If you work in a noisy environment, you may need a lower sidetone level to avoid it becoming too distracting. In quieter settings, you might prefer a slightly higher level. Avoiding Feedback If you notice feedback or an exaggerated "s" sound (sibilance), try lowering the sidetone volume until the issue is minimised. The EPOS headset allows you to fine-tune this setting to avoid such problems. Optimising Talkthrough Use when needed! activate talkthrough only when you need to be aware of your surroundings, such as when having a quick conversation or listening for announcements. Keeping it off during focused work can help maintain better noise cancellation. Balance with Sidetone Ensure that talkthrough volume doesn't overpower the sidetone. Adjust the talkthrough level so that external sounds are audible but not too intrusive. Experiment with these settings to find the perfect balance for your environment but it is trial and error. I am sure you will find it. The Impact range is still my headset choice for my day to day calls, I love the Brain Adapt technology. I hope that helps.
Thanks for the feedback. The next day after my comment a new update was available, which improved significantly, also noted it seems to behave slightly better in my personal PC where I have the EPOS connect app. I don't have it in my work laptop yet, so I was tuning in one and using it in both, in case someone had this doubt, yes, whatever you save in the configuration, remains in the headset across multiple devices! As EPOS said, I will try to get it installed on the other laptop, at least I can update on the fly when it's required. Also, very happy to see EPOS reply here and the continuous updates, this means I made the right choice vs Jabra evolve2 50 😅 Keep up the great work!
@@epnegrinho Appreciate it, we are happy that you solved it and enjoying the device to the fullest as intended :)
Thank you Team EPOS!
this or Poly voyager focus 2?
This EPOS headset has several advantages. The Focus 2 was released in 2021, so it seems like older tech in comparison. It's known for struggling with noisy backgrounds, allowing some noise to seep through, and Bluetooth connectivity has also been a documented issue. In contrast, this EPOS model is equipped with the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology, providing enhanced security and the ability to connect a third device for simultaneous use. Additionally, the AI-driven microphone technology for noise cancellation, both ANC and ENC, is significantly more advanced. Hope that helps :)
What’s the difference between a Standard UC and the Microsoft Teams?
Great question, and nothing too major! The Teams versions of any headset are optimised for Teams in terms of audio quality and performance. They undergo strict quality control, which means that if the headset has a fault on the Teams platform, it is supported. For example, Teams has its own noise suppression settings for eliminating background noise, which could clash with uncertified headsets. They also have a Teams access button, acting as a shortcut to help you join calls quickly. This variant is most likely to make a difference if your business uses Teams exclusively. However, if you use a combination of Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and other communication platforms, as most businesses do, the UC version is optimised to perform well on all platforms and will arguably work just as effectively. In my earlier example about built-in noise suppression, if you’re purchasing the IMPACT 860T, you won’t have noise-cancelling issues, so you can turn the feature off. To be honest, I’ve never quite understood the hype around Teams certification. Many headset manufacturers are held back because they can’t get into the "club" for various reasons, including the high cost. My Channel will look to promote good headsets not just in the MS Teams Club.. So please follow for more.
Hi @@HeadsetsHearHere when you show how it sounds on headset with ANC ¿Do you refer to how do you hear with headset on your ears or how does the person on the other side of the call hears it?? I need right now some for working calls on a home right next to a building construction, doy you recommend this.? ¿It's not needed to have over ear cups for more isolation or on ear does the job? Are you using the Orosound supported software? www.orosound.com/orosound-link/
I tried it, but could not get it to block out noise.
I am happy to help try and help troubleshoot with you, noise cancelling was extremely good. A common mistake, which I can even make is having the wrong mic selected in the windows settings and the audio input could be coming from the laptop mic. Planning on getting this, were you able to fix the issue?
Hi, I did not hear anymore from this, so I take it, user error. Poor noise canceling is not an issue with the headset.
Thanks for the review. From watching other reviews, it seems like the EPOS IMPACT's mic produces more natural sound than any Jabra Evolve2. Is this the best wired headset you have tried for mic quality or do you have any other recommendations? and do you recommend to buy the ANC version?
At the moment, yes, the EPOS IMPACT is the best wired USB headset I have tested for mic quality. The ANC version with Brain Adapt technology blew me away and inspired me to write an article on how it helps individuals with ADHD. Hi what do you think Jabra engage 50 II or Impact 860T ANC ?
@@mzoro5311 Impact 860T ANC
I am about to purchase a Jabra evolve2 30 headset. Compared to other headphones, this one has a more natural sounding mic.
I know, I will be reviewing the Wireless version soon. I am just waiting to get my hands on one.
The EPOS 800/1000 series sound much more "pleasant" than any Jabra I have used or heard sound tests of, not sure what you mean by "natural". I currently own a Jabra Engage 50 MK II and just order this piece of tech marvel.
I just wanted to see how you got on with it in the end. I still use my Impact 1060 as my bench mark product that has to be beaten!
@@HeadsetsHearHere Thank you for checking in! I'm really enjoying the headset so far. It’s been performing well and meeting my expectations
Amazing news, I am glad I was able to help.
The mic sounds horrific
Hi there, I'm interested in getting more details on this. The feedback on sound quality from real-world usage has been positive. As I'm new to this channel, could there be an error on my side with the setup? Thank you!
Isn't the adaptor a USB-C to USB-A? Not USB-A to USB-C. If the cable has a USB-C connection, a USB-A to USB-C would be pointless. Am I wrong?
Hi there, good spot on the mistake in my description, glad you were listening. You are correct; the adapter should be USB-C to USB-A, not USB-A to USB-C. Thank you for pointing that out and helping me correct it.
Best video in TH-cam history
Thats very kind and appreciated. Its a great headset.
Thanks for the review. Can you suggest a trustworthy company to buy from in the UK?
Hi I appreciate the comment and I do! Businessheadsets.com is now sponcering my videos and if you use the voucher code "herehear" they are giving my viewers free shipping within the UK. I have been working in the Headset industry for almost a decade and the team based in High Wycombe are awesome. Here is a link: businessheadsets.com/wireless-headsets/?filterby=manufacturer-orosound Also Check out my latest video on the Epos 860 T -ANC a very good wired ANC and extremely good Noise Cancelling
Thanks for the review. I am just curious if the ANC is tested when the headset is connected via usb dongle on a laptop or via bluetooth?
Hi, that's a great question. It sounds like you're referring to the Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) feature, which is achieved through the microphone cancelling out background noise for the listeners / customers benefit. ANC, or Active Noise Cancellation, is different as it reduces surrounding noise for you the user, which unfortunately can't be fully appreciated through this video. However, I assure you, its performance is quite impressive. Regarding noise cancellation via the dongle, there is a noticeable improvement when used on a PC. The video you mentioned was recorded using Bluetooth on my mobile phone due to my current setup, which provided the best video quality at the time. You do definitely give me a couple of ideas for a couple of short explainer videos so I am extremely grateful for your comment.
thanks so much
You're welcome!
