    Everything was good and yes is better to buy en El Mercado but the only thing I find unnecessary to mention about safety and maybe get robbed ,I live in Burbank,California I have been robbed twice ,the window of my car broken ,and witness 2 robberies at Ralph’s food market but I don’t say that to People that is unsafe ,We are not safe anywhere. I have been to Guatemalan City and The central Market I never felt unsafe and nothing has ever happen to me. Please stop that rumor about Guatemalan being Dangerous. thank you

      I can understand your comment. I think maybe you might have missed some of what my husband said. He actually said it is not really dangerous, just that we have to be careful and aware of our surroundings, just like anywhere. You are correct, we have never really felt in danger in Guatemala and never have intended to promote that.

    Ooo a question for your next video, what would you recommend for Americans or really anyone who wants to find community in Xela? In my time in Guatemala City I was able to find community/friends at a church in Cayala. But in Quetzatelango I only have family and haven’t been able to find new friends there yet, I’m thinking of doing the same thing I did in GT city and going to the church Palabra en Acion in Xela. Besides religious group interests what tips would you recommend for making friends there 😁 Thank you! Love seeing these videos

    • @LifeinGuatemala
      @LifeinGuatemala 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Love this question. The interesting thing is we were just talking about having a video where people send us questions. Then we would set down with our group of expat friends and try to answer them in a panel discussion format. By the way, we don’t live that far from Palabra en Accion. We did attend a few times as we lived for 2 years in San Marcos, San Marcos and attended Palabra en Accion there. My Spanish limits me sometimes so we attend a Calvary church in La Esperanza and they teach in both English and Spanish. We have a great group of expat friends here. Most are missionaries but we also have developed some great friendships with the neighbors in our condominium who are Guatemalan. Be on the look out for a video on this subject in the coming weeks because I love this idea.

    Hi! I have a quick question how do you guys manage access to money? Did you keep your US banks and us ATM’s to get money out? When I visit family in Guatemala city or Xela I wire $ to family and they give me the cash because I don’t have a DPI & a us citizen without dual citizenship but the transfer fees are killing me average $25-30 when I wire 1000

    • @LifeinGuatemala
      @LifeinGuatemala 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jday3671 we have a Wells Fargo account. For $5 fee we can do an international transfer up to I think it’s $3000 a day or something like that obviously we don’t need to transfer that much or that often. Many people that live here also keep accounts with Charles Schwab. With a Charles Schwab account, you can take out money at the ATM up to a max at an ATM but each month they refund your ATM fees. Wire transfers obviously would be way too costly as you are finding out. I have heard of many people that do Western Union. I think that’s only five dollars but I don’t know what their limits are. I used to use Xoom and I could transfer money either to Guatemala account or just to my Husband or myself and we would pick it up at Guatemalan bank with our identification. It is part of the PayPal process. I ran into a couple of hurdles with it and found Wells Fargo to be easier. There are still people that use it though. I hope those answers will help you.
