Getting the Bearings right on a Walker Mower
Could you add a buy link to the motor DM45DS-20/14, can't seem to find it.
If my memory is correct I cover this in the video somewhere,. Basically we had to order this part from the RV store. www.lippert.com I think
I'm soldering quite a bit as I'm fixing whatever I deem worth saving from the landfill. What I'm recommending is that you use solder flux. I like the paste though you need to warm is up with the tip to soften it. Twist the braid then dip it in the softened flux. Insert yout shrink tubing if you got some, otherwise use some tape later. Then dab a bit of flux on the solder terminal. Now make hook or make contact both items. Dip your soldering iron tip in the solder paste and melt a little solder on it. Then apply the tip to your joint. It should not require more than 2 seconds. Check that the joint is strong by tugging gently. Then cover the solder joint with your PVC insulating tape or heat shrink tubing. Voila! Easy-peazy!
Thanks for the tips. I have come to realize this is not one of my strong pursuits.
You didn't mention which side the red wire faces on the pins, is it the back pin or the front pin. Thank you
The red buttons are to remove the dust canister and cyclone for better cleaning. You should do it every 3-6 months only use a damp cloth. Also the filters that came with your unit are washable. I would not throw them out if I were you. To clean the top filter correctly I would remove the see through top with a flat head screw driver to clean it out better. You’ll be shocked at what you find in there, lol. Don’t forget to let them dry for 24-48 hours. Thankfully you got the extras to use in the meantime. Don’t forget that using the vacuum on “Max” damages the battery cells quicker.
Wish you had posted this a year ago. We had something similar happen to ours but just purchased a new one. Guess we will never know.

Beautiful table, thanks for sharing. Would never make fun of Buc-ees shorts.
Thanks
Your audio capture would benefit from using from using a lapel mike (remote mike) instead of the phone/camera mike.
Thanks I have been looking into those and will be trying them out on future videos
Laws of Physics - that made me laugh. Even better, if you turn on CC, torquing becomes twerking… Thanks for the video.

I'm enjoying this process. It's cool that you can involve the family and making an heirloom that can be passed down.
Bottom looks beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished table.
Excellent video. Im about to service mine.
Great video! Thanks! I’m in Houston too. And have the same problem on the same motor Drivers side rear stud. Do you wanna take on fixing it for me?
Sorry, that is not something I do, I only work on my own stuff.
I’m glad I found this video! Thank you for your help!!
Glad it was helpful!
Glad it helped
Just did this on my twenty year old liquid cooled diesel Walker. Was shown by a mentor all the in's and out's of the jackshaft, bearings and collars. #1. If you emery cloth and clean where the bearing fits into, you won't need any special tools. #2 Old shafts will have wear and cause vibration and will take out new bearings. Always replace the jackshaft when doing the bearings. If you feel the jackshaft housing after running it you will feel heat. That heat wouldn't be there on a new jackshaft. #3 The center of those collars are offset and to tighten them correctly there is a little hole where you pound with a dowel, opposite way that the pully turns. This tightens the bearing in place with the collar. Then tighten allen screw. Nice video! I've always fixed my own stuff. If you've got a dealer like I got you avoid him at all cost's!!
Thanks good to know. This is why I like TH-cam, sharing of knowledge.
What is the Amazon pump model or if you may have a link thanks
I will have to find that recipe, hang on
I would like to know how much are the bearings I swapt a hole jackshaft assembly it was almost 300.00. They are expensive and know pullies come with it.
And that’s why I work on my own stuff. If I remember right, those bearings were about $30 each and I used the time can bearings I would not go cheaper because it’s too hard to work on so I want to last
Great video, I'm was torn between the Crown and the Dorman. This is the first video I've seen with the Dorman. I think I am leaning that way since my heat shield is rusty and needs replacement. The Dorman comes with all the parts, shield, gasket and down pipe bolts other then the 6 manifold bolts. Thanks for making the video.
This one has worked well, zero issues.
Thanks for the detailed video! I even went a step further and drilled a few small holes in the bottom portion of the cover, so if an water did get past my silicone seal job, it would drain back into the bin.
That crossed my mind as well, but I could not figure out a way to clean that space. Need to remember this is an ice machine and mold is a an issue on any ice machine that is not inclosed in a freezer.
Do you remember the thread pitch for the IFP and for the cap on the reservoir?
I have no idea what IFP stands for. Nor do I know the thread pitch for the cap at the top of the shock body but the top of the reservoir is held on by c-clip if my memory is correct.
We had this same issue with our JK, cost us a bit more that you state to have a dealer fix it... Is yours still shifting well?
Still shifting…
So the problem was what?
I believe it was the lack of a wire nuts on the valve solenoids. Or there is something going on in the modules in the controller. Time will tell.
Thanks for posting this update.
No problem.
Great video, Love the way your kids help out.
Thanks, Me too.
Thanks for all the detail and taking the time to record this. Best video I have watched on doing this.
Glad it helped.
That is beautiful.
Thanks, will be building one n our house later this year.
Where did you get that hook for the scooper? Was looking for one but i can't find it. Thanks in advance - Andy
It is a 3M command strip I purchased at a hardware store or Walmart. I did have to drill out the hole in the scoop for it to fit, but it works great. I never did like laying the scoop down or leaving it in the machine.
@@The-Old-Dude likewise, or they forget to put it on the side and leave it in the bin smh.
Thank you so much for making this video and your prior one showing how to replace the pump. I just ordered a Vevor ice machine that is pretty much identical to the Gevi and will now know how to replace the water pump and fix the leak if it happens
Glad I could help!
Thanks for this, we had the same issue.
Glad it helped.
Thanks for this, we had the same issue.
You're welcome!
Thanks, did you get the torque for the top of strut nut? I have AS on my GTS so will be doing the Damptronics.
I did find it but cant remember what it was. Your GTS will have different suspension anyway, Good luck.
Thank you for the video! My Gevi just started leaking after a cleaning cycle (I’ve had it about a year and have cleaned it multiple times). I’m ordering food grade silicone now.
I recommend you check for leaking hoses before jumping to what was wrong with mine. Work form bottom to top to find where the leak comes from. Good Luck
Thought this was filmed in B&W at the beginning. Then the sun came up.
I can see why, now.

I got nothing.
Soldering is easy. I didn’t see you put any flux on the piece. That’s what makes it flow.
Thanks, I will try and work that in.
Thank you for your video i just repaired mine . I really appreciate it
Glad it helped
Great video! Fixed mine I think the replacement pump without the restricted orifice will hold up longer than the original part. I think the hard water here is what really did that pump in. As a bonus to my repair I only misrouted one wire and ended up with only four extra screws. We got ice!!!
Yea screw’s multiply when you set them free.
Ours turned out to be a piece of paper towel that had lodged in the inlet of the pump from cleaning.
That would do it, we are always careful with that filter when cleaning
If you’re ever in Los Angeles, I owe you a drink 😊
I will look you up next time I am out that way
I know this is three years old, but I just bought myself a Gen1 Raptor and decided to tackle the shock rebuild myself. I can’t thank you w laugh for making these videos. They’ve been super helpful. You specified special tooling, made section views, and gave great detailed dialogue - all of which saved my butt here. Thank you! I appreciate you.
I have rebuilt mine again since this and needed to review these myself. Glad to know these are helpful. Enjoy the truck.
I'll never figure out how anyone gets a free walker.😮
good living I guess… JK Free stuff is often not worth what you get.
Owners get tired of the Walker maintenance nightmares. I am close to setting mine by the road with a sign to take it away.
@@stevensmith7371 actually once I got past all of the things that needed to be fixed this mower is not much more maintenance than my John Deere. Though the Walker is more complicated and compressed into a smaller package. Plus it has a lot more grease points…
I tell you watching the way people work on these Walker's makes it a whole lot better than it used to be man I been running Walker's since 2001 I have 2 of them a 98 & a 99 mtghs I just keep repairing them they are darn good mowers BTW between them both close to 10,000hrs & engine rebuilt just keep grease and regular oil changes 👍
Nice, these are definitely well put together
Thanks for the teardown. Glad to know its relativel easy to repair.
It is simpler now that I know the ice shoot comes off. Check out my newer video where I fixed the leak that showed up on this machine.
Thank you so much I hope I can change the bearings with out to much trouble
Good Luck
It looks like the holes in the new pump are bigger as the old one has flow restrictors on them, has that been a problem with the new pump?
No it has not.
Thanks for posting this video. While I was changing the front/rear brakes on my Wife's 2016 Porsche Macan I noticed the bump stop was in similar condition as yours. I really appreciate your sharing your experience. You saved me a ton of headache. Thx Brother!
Glad it helped
Macon? Like Bacon? I thought the name was, Porsche "Macan?"
It’s a redneck Porsche.
Great video. Thanks so much. One of wife all time favorite as well that just went out. I’ll be tearing it apart this weekend. Sound like the pump as well.
Seems to be a common issue. But an easy fix. Good luck.
