I'm a math teacher and I make videos about math.
Reflect a shape with tracing paper
Different tools can help us do reflections, and tracing paper is one of them.
In this video, I'll show you a shape, and ask you to reflect that shape over a given line. I'm using a diagonal line; the process is exactly the same if you use a horizontal or vertical line.
I'll encourage you to try to imagine where the image will be and how it will look. Then I'll show you how to use the tracing paper to reflect the pre-image. I'll also show you a few ways you can double-check your work.
I actually used parchment paper instead of tracing paper because that was what I had on hand.

Rotate a shape with tracing paper
มุมมอง 3595 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, we'll use tracing paper to help us rotate a triangle 90 degrees clockwise about a given point P. I'm actually using parchment paper instead of tracing paper because I had some on hand. I'll encourage you to work on predicting the image before you check with your tracing paper. Then I'll show you what to draw on your tracing paper, how to move the tracing paper, and what to copy o...
How to find the perimeter of a square if you know its area
มุมมอง 48K4 ปีที่แล้ว
If you know the area of a square, you can find its perimeter in two steps: first, find the side length, then use the side length to find the total distance around the outside of the square. I'll go through both steps in detail, and I'll be sure to explain all the reasoning behind them. I'll also make sure you understand the meaning of the word perimeter, which is easy for some students but tric...
Estimate square roots by systematic trial
มุมมอง 3874 ปีที่แล้ว
Use systematic trial, or organized guess and check, to get a good estimate of the square root of a number. Learn how to organize your work and how to decide which estimate is best. I'll also quickly review a place value idea that can confuse some students.
How to estimate square roots
มุมมอง 5454 ปีที่แล้ว
Learn how to estimate square roots without a calculator by comparing them to other, known, square roots. You'll see how to estimate the values of the square roots of 50, 96, and 11. We'll start by making a list of the square roots we know, up to the square root of 100. We'll also place these numbers on a number line. To estimate the square root of 50, we'll look at our known square roots. We'll...
How to graph a linear relation
มุมมอง 6114 ปีที่แล้ว
Learn how to graph a linear relation from a table of values. I'll talk especially about how to choose scales and label your axes.
How to make a table of values to represent a relation
มุมมอง 9074 ปีที่แล้ว
Learn how to make a table of values to represent a relation. We'll write titles, choose input values, and substitute the input values into an expression to find the output values.
Mean? Median? Or mode? How to choose which measure of central tendency best represents a data set
มุมมอง 8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Deciding which measure of central tendency to use can be tricky... and sometimes there's more than one good answer! I'll show you what to think about to make your decision, and we'll look at four examples.
What is an outlier?
มุมมอง 14K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Outliers are values in a set of data that are very different from the rest of the values. They can be significantly bigger or significantly smaller than most of the numbers.

Introduction to the range: a simple measure of spread of a data set
มุมมอง 1024 ปีที่แล้ว
The range of a set of data is the difference between the largest and smallest values of the set.
Introduction to the median
มุมมอง 1314 ปีที่แล้ว
The median of a set of values is the middle number when the values are arranged in numerical order.
Calculate the mode from a frequency table (tally chart)
มุมมอง 5K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Even though the mode is usually easy to find, there's a common error students make when calculating it from a frequency table, or tally chart. I'll explain what it is and how to avoid it. The mode is the value in a set of data that occurs the most often. While finding the mode is usually fairly straightforward, there is a common mistake many people make when calculating the mode from a frequenc...
Calculate the mode from a bar graph
มุมมอง 20K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The mode is the value in a set of data that occurs the most often. There is a common mistake many people make when calculating the mode from a bar graph (bar charts) and histograms. I'll show you how to avoid it. I'll consider an example of bar graph which shows the following information: 20 students' favorite subject is English 50 students' favorite subject is math 35 students' favorite subjec...
Introduction to the mode
มุมมอง 1364 ปีที่แล้ว
The mode is the value in a set of data that occurs the most often. I'll show you three examples of how to find the mode. In the first example, we have the following number of pets: 1, 3, 2, 3, 0, 7, 2, 0, 2. Since there are three 2s, and no more than two of any other number, the mode is 2. The second example lists the following oven temperatures (in degrees F): 350, 375, 425, 375, 400, 350. The...

thank u 🙏
I have my exams this week and i was not able to understand anything in this topic Now it has been clear Thanks a lot
"non negative" is crazy
tnx
Thx for saving my math grades lol
Haha, you're welcome! Good for you for doing some independent learning! <3
Tnq
Thank you!
😮😮😮
I was waiting for this explanation for whole life and now it’s been clear . Thank so much
Oh my goodness thank you! That's so sweet of you! I'm glad it was helpful.
Thank you so much ❤ But how can i use algebra tile to proof that 2x^2+10x=2(x^2+5x)
You're welcome! Start with the right side. That means two groups of (x^2 + 5x). If you draw that out, you'll see that altogether, you have 2x^2 + 10x. :-)
@meganmathteachersnow9357 thank you so much ❤️❤️
Hi! Cool channel!
Hi! This channel is awesome!!!😊
Thanks Luis! 😄
tysm for this! this is the only vid I could find with the fractions being like x - 2 instead of 1 - x 2 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Where did you get -3 from the equation -9-3 =2x+3-3?
you're a legend!
Thank you so much ❤😊 now I can do it very easily
This is excellent and i will definitely use it, but i feel like it would be much more natural, if google integrated LaTeX commands since the people who are gonna use this, all already know them. that said, there isn't much else to complain about.
It was pretty simple yet very much helpful I used to type my notes and when it came to writing equations I used to write it on paper and click a picture and insert that picture into the doc file. but it wasn't very optimised and would be very annoying to fit the image properly but after learning this it is very much efficient. thank you for this
😎
thankyou, this is very helpful
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you for providing such a clear explanation at a comfortable pace. I appreciate your clarity and the time you took to explain. Not many people take the time to explain things so clearly and at a manageable speed. Thank you!
That was genius
❤❤
Thank you very much! you saved my life from my maths teacher. you are very good in explaining maths. keep it up and you'll get more subscribers and save more lives!:)
Ur the best 🤍🤍🤍 thank u a lot
Thx so much I didn’t understand the concept but because of you now I do
Yeyfhtiu
Why do you multiply everything by 4? I don’t understand, why that number?😢
This guide was cool but even the editor is cumbersome to use when you need to use the menus every damn time, is there a way to use the editor just a tad bit faster?
yes most of the symbols have codes you can type in e.g. \times gives × and \pi gives π and \Pi gives Π after typing the code press spacebar if you have used LaTeX or MS Word Equation editor the codes are mostly the same There's a couple of unofficial lists of the shortcuts you can find online, look up "List of mathematical symbol shortcuts supported in Google Docs equations" or "Google Docs Equation Editor Shortcuts"
im 10 years late but thx for the video im been struggling ty
Nice video ❤

thought i would comment your linear standard form violates a Vector space, and the rule of linearity containing a const on the left hand side, thus its becomes a linear solution but everything else is correct i imagine
Awesome
TERRIBLE WAY OF EXPLAINING
Your mom is terrible
Very good , you make it so easy!
thanks megan
Thanks!
Thank you is not enough, you made my life easier➗➖➕✖
keep making new math videos to help me out. i appreciate your help.
thanks for yo help
Thanks I hope this will help me for my test tommorow👍
Hello, since this is 9 years ago, are u still alive? Can i ask question? Yes i know i already did. But, the question what i want u to answer is why is your LCD 8 and 6, how?
Haha very much alive, but apparently not checking my TH-cam messages often enough! It might be too late to help you, but in case anyone else is wondering: The lowest common denominator is the same thing as the lowest common multiple of the denominators. You can make a list of multiples of the denominators, and just see which is the smallest number on both lists. So in my first equation, the denominators are 2 and 8. So I'll make these lists: 2: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12... 8: 8, ... oh wait! 8 is on both lists! So I'm done, and 8 is the lowest common multiple of 2 and 8. For the second equation, my denominators are 3 and 2. So I'll start my lists: 3: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15... 2: 2, 4, 6... got it. Six is the lowest common denominator. I hope that helps, and if you'd already figured it out, maybe it'll help someone else! Megan (PS You don't actually need the LOWEST common denominator if you're having trouble finding it. If your numbers are tricky and you're stuck, you can find a common denominator just by multiplying the two denominators together. It might not be the easiest number to use, but it'll work.)
Thank you!!
She use permanent marker for us
It is also good to note that outlier analysis is very important and can skewer data wildly. For example in my country, we have a large number of people who earn a few dollars a day, while we have some people who own helicopters.
Thanks this helped cause i forgot
Thank you so much
can I ask, if 5x+3y=53 so what I did was 5 x 5 x is multiplication. doubling the first with Y. plus 3. +53 did I do wrong if so tell me or so tell me right
