Building my first Workbench (out of scraps)
I built this workbench out of scraps I found on multiple jobsites.
I used (2) 8 foot 2x4's I purchased - $7.96
Most of the screws I used were also destined for the trash, but I figure I used ~ $5 worth of the ones I bought.
So about 13 bucks was spent on this.
Obviously I had the tools to make this, but anyone could do this if they had basic tools and patience.
.... I should have glued this thing together too, now that I think about it. Frickin A.

THANK YOU SO MUCH
The underground coal mines hand out MSHA Electrical Cards to mechanics, and they tell them it's equivalent to a Journeyman Card. What do you think? Nobody recognizes the MSHA Card, and they get upset. They try to use it to get into electrician positions.
I don't know much about that, but maybe it's the equivalent to a journeyman card inside of a mine. If you just get a license handed to you without proving through an exam that you understand the national electrical codebook, then yeah, I wouldn't recognize that MSHA card either. But again, I don't know much about that.
@Sparky_Mark yea, they sit through a couple of classes on video, then test. No years of training, no experience required.
Nice beginner bench but get some center casters ASAP! That stretch is gonna bow like a Mother Father....
Haha yes absolutely. I've decided that I'm going to challenge myself by trying to build things to sell, and using the profits from that to improve on my shop. Idk maybe a pipe dream, but i'm gonna try it. Thanks so much!
@ you’ will do fine! Just keep making!
The bench is fine and functional. The video was fantastic. Keep it up. Very entertaining
Will do! Thanks so much
I’m doin the exact same thing! I’m currently building my workbench outta scraps from job sites that I work at!
Yooooooo we need a name for the benches made from jobsite scraps
@@brianmoore5138 you oughta post some progress photos
after watching a couple of videos on yt on the topic, one can get easily tricked into believing that you need to buy a couple of expensive new tools first and spend another 500 bucks on material in order to build a bench. it's great to see that you can build an awesome bench with built-in tools in an easy, no bullshit-way. love it! thanks for putting the video together!!
Man this makes me so glad, this is exactly what I want my videos to show. Glad you liked it
Good job well done. I think it turned out great
Thanks so much! It works great
It doesn't have to be beautiful or perfect - if it's first bench, it's an improvement! Greetings and good luck from Poland :)

Bro how many questions u had on oregon test and nec? Im about to take wac/rwc, and NEC
It was a total of 52 questions. Dont remember how many were OESC (oregon code) questions... but during practice, I checked every question up against the OESC. Hope this helps
That’s incredible. Nicely done.
Thank you!! Honestly I'm way more stoked about the sauna I'm working on right now
Does this watch work without a need of connection to a phone? As that is the reason for GPS, that it will work on its own. If not can you advise on one that would work independently? Thanks.

Great to hear you passed im on my journey to pass mine can you send me what you studied for study tests i would appreciated
Thanks Ben, the practice tests I got were on an onine portal that one of my teachers gave me access to. They were timed simulation of the 3 hour test. I don't have any way of sharing that with you, unfortunately. I would ask your teacher or teachers in whatever apprenticeship program you're in if they have some of their own!

Well, I personally have never been to a nice barbell sauna, they look cute, but function sucks
Now that I have my new sauna, and as sauna experiences go, I have to agree with you. It isn't a fully enveloping heat. But it does cause me to sweat, and my heart rate does go up to 140bpm, just like I want it to. And if I ever get it onto a trailer, I could take it to a cold lake. 🥶 😏 Thanks for watching!
According to my calculations, your sauna is infinitely better than mine. I think it's beautiful and you did an awesome job. Thanks for the videos - I'm planning on building the same thing and it's great to see how it's done.
That is a terribly wonderful thing to say, thank you! I would definitely learn from my mistakes if I was you. Haha Im almost done building my new sauna, that video is coming soon! Hope you build your sauna very soon and without any problems
Please get some foot protection 🥴 Nice build all the same.
Haha i might change my username to Barefoot Builder to be honest.
Thank you! New sauna coming soon.

For you "Run mode activation" problem, just check if Move IQ is off in the settings. When this option is on and you have a lot of activity, it considers what you do as a sport and can activate some features like the GPS. You can find the option on the watch or in the Connect app.
I’m looking at using thermally treated pine.
My understanding is thermally treated lumber will not shrink or expand but it can be up to 30 percent less dense… weaker in a sense.
Not a bad idea, I'd like to know how that holds up. I don't think you need to worry about density too much. With all of those staves up against each other, it's a very sturdy structure.
Me and my buddy had one each. I wore it for year and half and loved it. Then around 2022 not sure if happened after an update but started to shut down randomly. Alarm would trigger shut down as well as pulse ox measure. Still broken even after garmin pushed software update. I’m very frustrated. Went and bought g-shock gw 5610 because I don’t want to deal with anything that has software updates anymore. P.S. my buddy’s watch is still running strong to this day so I guess I was one of the lucky few (actually quite a lot of watches failed the same way around the same time)
Dang that sucks. Just a bad batch of them I suppose. How are you liking the g shock
Hey good job I'm in the process of planning my own barrels on a build my question is how did the pine hold up compared to cedar any shrinkage?
Omg dude ton of shrinkage. This wasn't heat treated or kiln dried pine. This was the greenest wood you can find from home depot. I mean I went into this fully expecting it to shrink. And I lined the inside of it with a vapor barrier and cheap cedar fence boards so it doesn't affect the heat retention much. I haven't used cedar, so I can't give you a comparison there.
@@Sparky_Mark thanks for the feedback! good insight. Im going to HD now to pick wood, im gonna get cedar... from what I read it'll stay true. Also doing the round joint with 2x6's so if there is some shrinkage it should show... I hope haha. but at $30/stave its gonna suuuuuck for $

😭
Hello! Great work! Can you tell me the name of the machine please 🙏😊
Thank you! Maybe you mean the Router?
What'd you do for the door ends? But them or dove tail or butt them together and screw?
What do you mean by door ends?
@Sparky_Mark Sorry, the walls? The vertical ends. Are they simply butted together, or are they jointed some how?
@VW.907 oh the wall on the stove side was all scraps of tongue and groove, heat treated pine. The door side, I had made tongue and groove boards myself using the router table and bits.
@Sparky_Mark cool, that's what I plan to do as well. Just making sure I wasn't missing an important small detail. Thank you sir.
@VW.907 absolutely! You're building a barrel sauna?
I am a commercial hot air balloon pilot by trade , hot air balloon navigation is totally hard labour both mentally and physically , unlike a conventional airplane we don't have control surfaces and an engine to maintain our heading if we want to go let's say 150° we can't simply manipulate a lever and change our heading we have to fight for it and get the correct wind to direct us to a safe landing zone.So navigational backups are really crucial for us.I don't need to see what the time or what the time is at home like a suit wearing Airbus pilot looking at his shiny Rolex GMT ( i can afford it it doesn't matter ) i don't give a fuck to what time it is , i need real flight data and i need lots of it with the glance of an eye by looking at a real instrument on my wrist.I am a user of the first generation Solar tactical , i used this tool as a primary flight instrument more than i want to remember while flying over some really hostile environments like part of Sahara and other locations. It gives me my heading , my speed , my deviation from the target ( so i can take necassary corrective actions ) , my glide ratio , my vertical speed ( alarms programmable for ascent and descent rates ) my barometric altitude ( gps altitude as well separately if wanted and calibration is possible) , sunrise and sunset times and many many programmable advence features i cant tell one by one here.I can pull my civilian and military coordinates so if i happen to make a forced landing somewhere in the desert i can inform both authorities and it does all those things in a mil spec feather weight body which easily survived unforgiving balloon cockpit which is notorious love destructive for fine things like an expensive shiny watch. So this is the report of a working Pilot with the device , you can decide on your own about the rest.
@@K1To749 bro holy Frick "COMMERCIAL" hot air balloon pilot?? Like for giving people rides or what?? Could we hop on a call and talk about this?

I'd consider a Dado cut for the staves

@@Sparky_Mark the place where you cut for inserting the front and back round walls across the staves.
Isn't what I did technically a dado?

All my homies love a sauna 😤
you're invited. .....eventually.
Sauna looks awesome so far! I’m watching your barrel sauna videos as I build one of my own. What made you go with this design instead of a barrel again?
The barrel is asthetically nice to see, but because of its shape, you can't sit with having your feet above the elevation of the stones on the heater. I want this to be a permanent sauna, (the barrel was always meant to go on a trailer (i have yet to do that)) This design would allow the upper benches to be well above the sauna heater, giving me an amazing sauna experience, keeping one's entire body in heat rather than having cold feet.
The sawzall in flip flops has me stressing. Haha
Sorry bubs, no other way. =D
Wow, impressive
Thanks!
Very smart
ty very much! I try!
You had almost 100k views on one of your vids, keep it up. Your channel and editing is clean it’s okay to feel down but just film whatever you like to do. Work always pay off. You just have to be smart about it and find a way to « advertise » it. Look at your most viewed video. Why did it work ? How did you do ? Try and repeat. Again and again. Wish you the best.
