    Great content - should your founding members be given free membership? If so, for how long?

    • @CarrieMelissaJones
      @CarrieMelissaJones 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It depends on the cost of your membership, how much you plan to ask from them, and their own financial situation. For my community, I asked my Founding Members to pay a special lower price as a symbolic gesture of their involvement, and then I let them have lifetime access. This is a values-driven decision for me, and their active participation is worth much more than a monthly subscription fee (they make the place feel vibrant! That is priceless!). It is up to them how long they want to stay active, and I always welcome them at events and frequently tag them in posts or bring them on for more formal feedback.

      They’re not bad! They used to not allow people to blur their backgrounds, which was a privacy issue for my corporate clients, but they’ve since introduced that. I just like the freedom of being able to use whatever recording plugin I wish and the familiarity of Zoom to pretty much everyone at this point.

      The same pricing considerations apply - think about the needs of your target audience and, if this is for donors, the other levels of donations that you ask for and how this best fits into the mix. It's important to keep things simple and not over-complicate your offerings.

    Hi Carrie, is it possible to integrate a newsletter in Mighty Networks? If not, is there any other where I can integrate community, discussion groups, membership management and a newsletter?

    • @CarrieMelissaJones
      @CarrieMelissaJones ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends what you mean by integration here. They do have an automated digest you can enable, but you can't integrate other newsletter software with Mighty Networks. By this, I mean that you can't have Mighty send updates to software like Mailchimp or Convertkit that would create an automated newsletter for you. You could, however, have Mighty send all new members to your mailing lists. Other software that you might want to check out: Circle, Higher Logic (more pricey but is going to have all the features you want here), Disciple, or (if you have tech chops) Discourse.

    • @CarrieMelissaJones
      @CarrieMelissaJones ปีที่แล้ว

      This is precisely where founding member groups come in and why we always advise our clients to gather their first 10 members together before a big splashy public launch: th-cam.com/video/TzE7YG6CkFM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=CarrieMelissaJones. You run the value prop and early set-up by them to validate it, then go from there.

    • @CarrieMelissaJones
      @CarrieMelissaJones ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, they've been steadily raising their price over the last year, and the business/pro plans are prohibitively expensive for many creators just starting out. :/ Having said that, it's worth the set license fee if the community is generating solid recurring revenue. Some platforms charge by the user (e.g., Slack Pro), and that's a true business nightmare.
