I SOLO HIKED 4 days in AZERBAIJAN
The 4-day solo hike in Southern Azerbaijan was a true adventure to its fullest. A new trail with no waymarks or support. Just me walking through the remote villages and mountains along the border with Iran. I experienced the purest interactions with locals who were very surprised about my presence.

Thru-hiking NEW Transcaucasian Trail Georgia

In the autumn of 2022, we set out to hike the Upper Svaneti section of the Transcaucasian Trail in Georgia. But the plans changed along the way and we ended up hiking all the way to the border of Armenia. We hiked for a total of 36 days and around 500 kilometres through various mountain passes, villages, colourful forests and unmarked paths. The trail through Georgia was brand new and not publi...

Thank you for making and sharing the video, great one! I am planning a visit in December (Christmas week) & was lucky to have found this video, this gives a good idea. I would be mostly visiting Loreto, Bahia Concepcion, Mulege & then go down south. Will explore the northern part on another visit may be. How was the bioluminescence experience? I hope I get to see this phenomenon during our visit in any of the beaches
I am doing a video on different areas in Lycia. If you let me use your footage I will be more than happy to add your video as a link. Would I be able to get your raw footage?
Hi Nick! As a matter of fact, I have licensed many of my clips on various stock video websites. If you tell me which ones are you interested in, I will be happy to help in finding the correct ones :)
@@TanelTilk - The Patara videos were particularly nice :).

Great video. Hoping to do a road trip down to Cabo next year. Any tips for the journey?

How can you get to the Picacho del Diablo?
To get to the viewpoint, google in maps "Sierra de San Pedro Martir Overlook". There is parking before and then a 5km hike in one direction. We stayed in Rancho Meling Hotel the previous night.

Hi! I concluded that info into a blog post - > fromsunrisetosunset.com/hiking-500km-lycian-way-in-turkey/ Happy hiking!

Welcom a México. I am from Nueva España
Love your mindset throughout the hike! I learned of this trail when I stayed in Kabak in 2022, and I've been thinking of it ever since. Really looking forward to the day I can do the full trail!
Do it!
Amazing how did you find your way? Did you use GPS or maps or did you just use your knowledge?
Mainly with phone applications. There is an excellent one called "TrekRight: Lycian Way". Also sometimes Maps.me for camping spots. Besides that there is a book by Kate Clow which will give you a lot of extra information about the trail.
@@TanelTilk many thanks
In which month did you start???
I started on 2nd of May. They recommend starting a bit earlier as it gets a bit hot already..
@@TanelTilk thanks for the quick reply. unbelievable that it was like this at the beginning of may, i thought it would be better to start in june or july so that it gets a bit warmer :)
Hey Tanel, I am thinking about hiking the route in April this year. However, like you, I am absolutely terrified of dogs and getting rabies, and considering not going because of this. I am due for my rabies vaccine soon, but I think it will be too much fear for me. Do you have any tips? Do you think dogs will be too much of a problem?
Unfortunately, dogs are a thing on many hiking trails in the world.. I hope you don't let that fear hold you back though! With just a few tricks you should be more than fine. 1. Have a stick that you can put between you and the dog (if you use walking poles it is perfect to have them) 2. Don't turn your back to the dog. When passing then turn and back out. 3. They are usually territorial. So the main thing to do is just try to pass that area. But don't run! Then they get more excited. 4. Pick up a few pebbles/rocks and if they get aggressive you can throw it towards them. Even the movement of reaching to the ground and making the movement of throwing sometimes works. 5. Pick up a bear/dog/pepper spray before going. Have it nearby (I like to have it in the backpack's front pocket) from where you can grab it from. I have used it twice in Georgia/Armenia. But again, don't let it hold you back! I am sure it will be fine and mostly they just bark loudly to get attention and have no intention of attacking you. ;) Happy hiking!
Hi@@TanelTilk , this is very useful information thank you. I will keep that in mind. Would you say it is easy to get to a hospital in case of being bitten? I have done some research on the closest hospitals but know one seems to talk about it, there seem to be some in the bigger towns such as Kas, and Feithye and Kemer. But I don't know how accessible these are from the route, can you get to them by bus?
Lycian Way goes through towns, villages and along roads and paths where people move frequently. In that sense, it is easy to get to a town easily. If no buses then for sure you can hitchhike or get a taxi easily. Locals are very helpful.@@Zach20017
Hi, Great video! Which section of the Lycian Way was your favourite? I am looking to hike for 5/6 days in April.
Hi! Tough question! Fethiye side seemed to be more popular and with amazing beaches. The centre part and Antalya side with more mountains, cedar trees, flames from the ground and some more remote sections.
Does the Fethiye side have remote sections as well?
West from Demre you can always find a homestay. From Demre to east you will need a tent in a few occasions.@@harveyjones4472
@@TanelTilk Which sections had the best scenery (ie. the most beautiful)?
17:20 I listened thru That was just absolutely beautiful singing and guitar strumming
Please people, stop saying Viva La Mexico- it’s wrong and annoying. The correct way is Viva Mexico. Period.
Yea sorry about that. I realised I made a mistake at the end of the video after posting already.
I loved all of your film! Well done in the film and of course the hike! I’m from Canada and plan on hiking some of the trail this spring. I hate scary dogs also so thanks for the warning. I hope someone gave you a lift to Antalya after your epic hike!
Enjoy your hike, Laurie! It is beautiful!
Amazing video, thanks for documenting this new trail! Of those 20kg you carried, how much of that was usually for food? 🙂
Thanks! Probably around 3kg
Great video! I like the focus on personal growth. A good mix of nature and talking
We are about to do a similar trip, crossing into TJ by foot and getting a car rental. Curious to know if it's absolutely necessary to get the FMM, or can it be skipped, when you walk back into the US, let's say taking the pedwest?
I'm not sure about that. When crossing the border, the officials asked for how long I would be staying and as I was continuing my travels after Baja as well I had to pay for the FMM.
Great to know, thanks! The only worry left for us now is that when you walk back into the us we read that the mx authorities don't collect the FMM, so for them you would be staying in mx forever and possibly overstaying in their records unless you use an airport or other port of exit that collects that FMM. So we were wondering if there is a place somewhere near the border where you can return the FMM formally and state your intention to legally leave the country.
Hi - great video, I want to do this so much. Did you see many other walkers? Did you feel it was was safe? Was it well signed? I will be doing as a solo female.
The answer is Yes to all the questions. Quite many hikers and many groups on the Fethiye side. Definitely don't rely only on trail markings but have (online) maps with you. You will find a link to mu blog post in the description where you cam get more information from. Enjoy!😊
The way you need to start looking at it as as Tokien once said: "Not all who wander are lost." Is there a right way to hike ?? Yes, your way to hike. Why because it is your way of hiking. Your way, or the way of others may not be the same, but your way is the way for you, thus it is the best.
Love it! ❤
Is there opportunity to stay at guest Hauses on all way? We go with kids. Thanks
Hey Emma! Most of it is possible with only guesthouses. There are some parts though that require camping but it should be also possible to just skip those with using buses. Good luck and enjoy!
love to see the cactus forests

The main reason for hiking Lycian Way is people (I was twice on this trail before Pandemic)!
