Poussey is one of the best chatacters,she didn't deserve this. Too beautiful,funny,kind and pure. I feel sorry for Bayley,but at the same time,I don't. What he did was selfish. Not just me. I don't think anyone here...expected Bayley to murder her,even if it was an accident. It changes nothing. Do you all remember the scene before this one? When he and Caputo were talking? Caputo told him to leave Litchfield and do something else. But he didn't. He had the choice to leave that fucking of a "job",but he didn't. Not only he hurt her...he hurt Taystee,he hurt Poussey's dad,and everyone around him. I knew that season four someone was going to die. But it shouldn't have been Poussey. She didn't deserve to be in prison in the first place. It hurts so much. If you all love Poussey...then you know what I'm saying. 💔
god damn this subplot was interesting. you could definitely make the argument that it was inappropriate for the writers (i think all of whom were white?) to make baxter this sympathetic considering how purposeful and malicious police brutality usually is in the real world, but if you take the character for who he is, wow. the fact that it was an accident that happened during a chaotic situation, it's not like he was intentionally abusing his power against poussey. suzanne also unintentionally played a role in her death, which i don't think she was punished for either, but the reason she was there in the first place was because she was punished for unintentionally causing dylan's death, so baxter's privilege as a white male CO in this situation is still palpable. he definitely both benefits from and played a role in the abuse of power that killed her but that doesn't mean he was guilty of abusing power himself. he knows he got off too easy. it makes complete sense for poussey's dad and friends to not forgive him, not only because of his mistake, but also the privilege he has that not only allowed it to happen but also insulated him from consequences, but that doesn't mean he's objectively irredeemable. the fact that the CO driving him home began his consolation with the fact that he's accidentally broken chairs under him but went on to recount how he committed literal war crimes, and THEN said "you're a good guy....I'M a good guy"...blurring the line between an accident/mistake and intentional, malicious victimization. so vilifying.
I don’t blame him at all for killing pousey. If we being honest it wasn’t him it was crazy eyes fault cause she kept attacking him causing him to pay less attention to the girl on the floor . If it wasn’t for her pousey wouldn’t have died
The redhead officers is the same one that thought he deserved an apology for what the inmates did to him, what when it was his turn he couldn’t let it go Also he knew the other disgusting officers was rapist pensatuky and did nothing

Something that I see a lot of people missing about Bayley’s story is that, even though he has good intentions and doesn’t directly hurt people, he still stands by and watches others commit terrible acts without intervening. We see in his flashback that he eggs the inmates with his friends as a teenager. He feels remorse afterwards, but he doesn’t stop them. He doesn’t tell them it was wrong. He just laughs along. And he continues in his life that way, watching colleagues mistreat the inmates. He doesn’t like or agree with it, but he never stops it. And when they give him an order, he follows it without question. Killing Poussey was a mistake, but he chose to grab and carry people against their will. He followed an order to detain people who were peacefully protesting inhumane conditions. He wasn’t some innocent bystander, he chose to uphold a system of violent mistreatment, even if he did it with a frown on his face.
So were all just ignoring "We used to blow kids arms off then kill them, and rape/strangle village-girls" Though to be fair, that kind of thing probably didn't happen often. The time it did happen, when some privates raped a 15 year old girl and killed her and her family they got found out pretty quick.

The guard driving him home hit several lines well... Talking nonchalantly about the violent crimes he willingly committed. Then him switching to, "we're young." He's not, but Bayley and Poussey were. This is a moment where Bayley is grieving- because grieving isn't just about death. He just threw away his moral character completely. And he's struggling. And the guard tries to justify that these things happen, and they shouldn't grow old with that regret. Very powerful scene.
Bayley shows how dangerous incompetence can be, even with the best of intentions. But yeah I think the other guard sees how awful Bayley feels about killing someone accidentally and is trying to make himself feel better about murder committed intentionally.
This may surprised many, but there are polices and people in general that when they kill someone either black or white are eaten by the guilt, not everyone is out there to kill blacks.

if you put it into perspective it’s not bayleys fault. it’s the prisons, they didn’t give him professional training on how to deal with these situations, if they did she could be walking. although fig embezzled the prisons money, she kept the prison stable, ever since caputo started running the prison, the staff left and new ones came. pensatucky got raped, maritza got fed an alive baby mouse, suzanne got forced to fight which fucked her mentally, red got sleep deprived, Alex almost got killed and instead killed a ‘guard’, which lead to lolly being put into psych, Flores and chapman got forced to stand on the cafeteria tables for days, Sophia was illegally held in SHU for months without medication for her transsexuality. In my opinion piscatella should be held responsible for some of these issues, obvs he can’t control what they do but HE hired them, HE is the reason these guards are in that prison. he deserved to get shot. inhumane prick
