    Great video, but what is the ptp voltage of your signal that you use? and is this pure sinewave, or with a offset? kind regards, Lars

    • @redwineandchips8444
      @redwineandchips8444 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The voltage is not too important my scope is on 0.50 v per division so 1 or 2 volts. It is a pure sinewave created by my generator but with no offset.

    A great little range of models by Jouef/Playcraft, advertised "Build that big layout at pocket money prices!" of which the Holy Grail must be the "Lakeside" set! Train set box artwork is very evocative, e.g. "Night Ferry". Look out for the black, Nord, 231C. Uses the same motor!

    Great idea about creating a retaining plate for the point motor and in effect putting a scotch on both sides of the stock and switch rails to stop movement whilst fitting the point motor . I’m starting a new project so this is helpful . Merry Christmas. Richard .

      I made this kit a while ago but I don't think I got a plain sheet of glasing. In any case I have just had a close look at the model on the layout and there's no clear plastic anywhere on it so I guess it's spare.

      Can clearly see the extra clear sheet of acetate under your cut glazing pieces at 4:52 probably just the piece used for the window on the front of the green packaging, in any case it's worth hanging on to for scratch builds etc 👍🏻

      Well, HO is a little smaller but I have some 1:87 animals and a Landrover on the farm and they fit in well. I have an HO digger elsewhere on the layout and that's fine too.

      @@finndrennan541 It's the other way around. OO scale is 1:76 and HO is 1:87. Therefore the tractors and animals are a little too small for Metcalfe kits but it doesn't really matter unless your layout is extremely accurate.

    I enjoyed this build very much. I've seen various Metcalfe kits online and wondered exactly what thickness of card was used. It seems on the main structure anyway the outer printed shell is a thin cardstock while the support pieces are thicker, about a 0.5mm. Would that be about right? You seemed to have overcome the hurdles presented without too much trouble in the end.

    Thank you for bringing the problems of this cleaner to light, as you said other reviews only showed this machine in a straight line, I have a 00 garden railway with lots of point work and gradients and were on the verge of buying one of these cleaners so thank you so much for showing the real problems with it, I will ring George and see if he has modified the unit to overcome the problems you highlighted as I like to support small businesses if not I will buy the CMX as I'm getting to old to get on my knees with a track rubber. I can recommend 00 gauge outside, I would be happy to contact you with any tips or doubts you have with having a garden railway, thank you again for your informative video.

    That was very interesting, and what a fantastic conversion. Quite sure if you marketed it you would get loads of buyers. Surprised Sharge have not taken you up on, brilliant piece of work and makes the model look more authentic. As I am still designing/building my layout and have nothing to test a cleaner on I was wondering what liquid you put inside. Personally I would go for 99% Isopropanol or lighter fluid which I have read is far superior and has been used for ages yet forgotten about. Would like to know what you use and would love to see a test after using lighter fluid. Regards Chris

    Sir, I have been following your channel recently and find your approach to model railways very refreshing. You seem very relaxed and I like your willingness 'to have a go' without spending a fortune on ready made accessories and components off the shelf. I like your idea in connecting the two Hornby 37s. However, I would ask whether they are running in the same direction - as they sound as if they are fighting each other. If they are running in opposite directions, I'm sure you know to just reverse the wires on one of the motors to get the polarity running in the same direction. Thank you again for producing your channel. I too use the ECoS and find wonderful to use - even though it is the older 50000 model, it still provides an excellent interface for my 'trainset'. Again please continue to film and show the work you do - as it really breathes some fresh air and common sense into this world that sometimes can appear quite elitist. Regards Stuart

    On reflection, i'm glad i spent the extra on a CMX that gives faultless running/cleaning than this thing, which has negated it's lower cost with all the messing around and poor running. You did a good job of modification, but that was really too much of a chore when the thing SHOULD have been 'correct' out of the box.

    Just a quick question...the French Telecom connectors are a variation that I haven't seen. In Germany they call them 'suitcase ' connectors. I have read various comments recommending their use and others that claim they need to replaced after some time. Yours looked very small and neat. Are they a brand name and widely available?

    • @redwineandchips8444

      I actually "acquired" these when working with France Telecom but they are now on sale here. Just type "connecteur France telecom " into google and look at the images. 100 cost 11.95 on EBay.

    Hi, grateful for this info. I'm just starting out on my first layout for 50 years and I have to say this job was a concern. So much so that I have utilised a scrap piece of board to 'try out' some of the fitting techniques before getting underneath anything! I've watched a couple of videos on point motor installation bu t was interested in one that would feature the PM10 variant as I have invested in a couple of PM10D's to begin with. I was bothered about the middle legs, as there is an option to fit the motor using the legs into the track. The PECO points I have are equipped with the corresponding slots, but then the middle legs are in the way! I don't understand why so much of the equipment on the market is manufactured in such a way that it is not immediately fit to use without modifying it, and the instructions don't tell you how or why. Beginner friendly it isn't! I won't be using the legs though as that would require cutting a much bigger hole and at this stage I just want to learn the how to fit them with the minimum of fuss. At least after watching your vid and a couple of others I have a range of useful hints and info to call upon now.Thanks again for sharing your experience.
