I thought he was dead also the first time I saw the crash.

Two points...Did Watkins was amazing across his career, second...I watched this twice as i only realised that THAT was Martin Donnelly. I thought it was an actor/dramatisation...I always thought he had passed due to the accident ever since I was a youngster. Wow.

Martin’s story is incredible. I remember his rise through the lower formulae through the pages of Autosport. The accident itself was truly horrific and the image of his motionless body in the middle of the circuit will live with me forever. I hope the film gets released in its entirety so that everyone is able to hear Martin’s story in his own words.

I met Martin in the mid 90's at a touring car race, a lot of people were walking past him as I can only assume nobody recognised him, apart from me. I briefly said "Hello Martin" smiled, I was acknowledged and I went on my way.

I met Martin at Silverstone during the British GP weekend, after he’d had this crash. I got to have a brief chat with him and got his autograph. I shook his hand and told him how great it was to see him.

I'm Canadian. A buddy and mine flew over to the U.K. to see a Thruxton British Touring Car race on a "budget" in 96. We stayed at a B & B a few miles from the track. On the day of the race we were walking down a sideroad heading towards the track when a van stopped to give us a lift. I hopped in the back and the driver introduced himself as Martin. We both hopped out of the van and looked at each other...Holy S$%# that was Martin Donnelly. He owned a junior team in formula cars and invited us into his pit area. What a gentleman.

I can't wait to see this, This incident really shook me when I saw it in the Senna (2010) film and I've always wanted to know how he overcame such a horrific accident.
