Cleaning up 70+ Lbs of Garbage, Frigid New Jersey Shore Dive
Not much to see scuba diving in the middle of winter when the air temperature barely reaches the freezing point and the water temp is only marginally better. Best time of the year to clean up trash, fishing line and lures from the inlet. Trash will be disposed of or recycled but anything useable will be sold at the 28th Annual Ocean Fire Co. #1 Fishing Flea Market
February 25, 2024. 100% of the proceeds benefits the Point Pleasant Beach First Aid Dive Team.

Could be the last dive of the year completing a personal best year with more than 30 New Jersey Dives. After a cold snowy morning the temperture warmed up to the mid 30's with a chilly water temperature of 47F. A few Tog still in the rocks with a few small fish, blennies and juvinile winter flounder. Freezing cold December Dive in Manasquan Inlet - Lots of tog!
มุมมอง 15Kหลายเดือนก่อน
On Sunday, December 1, 2024, we met up at Manasquan Inlet, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ for an early morning dive, braving the cold air temperatures in the mid-twenties. The water temperature was a 52°F, with visibility ranging from 7 to 10 feet. Despite the conditions, the 57-minute dive turned out to be quite rewarding. We encountered schools of bait fish weaving through the currents and spotted ...
NJ Wreck Dive on the Delaware - Low Visibility dark dive
มุมมอง 1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This dive took us to the wreck of the Delaware, a Clyde Line steamer that sank in 1898 due to a fire. Originally planning to dive the Mohawk, we had to change course to this alternate site because of rough seas. Surface visibility looked promising, but on the bottom, it dropped to just 1-2 feet, making exploration challenging. Despite the conditions, I spotted a lone butterflyfish, a lobster, a...

The wreck now lies at a depth of 80 feet (24 meters). We completed two dives on the wreck, with an unusually good visibility estimated at 50-60 feet (15-18 meters). The water temperature was a comfortable 60°F (16°C). Schools...

As a long time, New Jersey diver and avid fisherman, I appreciate your efforts in cleaning up the inlets. Waterways like woodlands, are places of beauty and can easily be tarnished by litter and abandoned fishing gear not to mention the hazards to aquatic life. Thanks for braving the cold to do what you do.

My first ocean dive ever was a boat wreck dive to about 130'. Certified in PA in a quarry, then went with my brother and some dive shop buddies for my advanced certification. Got to see the wreck, harvest some amazing scallops, and improve my technical skills. It's cold, bad visibility (usually), and can have some strong currents, but totally worth the challenge. I have since done some tropical diving in Djibouti and shore diving around Gloucester in Massachusetts. I live in Maine now, and have a bad back, but still have all my gear. I would like to check out some of the freshwater lakes, and maybe do some scallop diving on the coast.

I've lived in south Jersey most of my life and while I've caught many of these fish I never knew it was a good place to dive. I was used to swimming in murky lagoons as a kid. We would catch tons of baby fish and keep them in our tanks until they grew too big and would release them. We had a lined seahorse in a small tank by himself and he lived for 3 years!

I knew New Jersey had some unique wildlife that graces their shores. Also, it can be said being that it’s the Atlantic. You kinda get the best of both roads where you get northern ocean creatures as well as the southern ocean creatures however, I always thought of it would’ve been a little too murky to really enjoy seeing wildlife down there. I have a scuba diving license. I haven’t really used it in years being that I live in PA and don’t really have too many connections around here to do scuba diving as well as it expensive but definitely this video inspired me.
