    The power modes are for how much pedal assist you want - they don't make any difference when using the throttle. What do you think about the rear shock?

    How does it handle in a busy city setting, moderate rain, and dealing with flat tires?

    • @phoxrides
      @phoxrides 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's fine. It's super fast, so in rain I'd turn down the power. I didn't pop the tires to find out. I'd absolutely want to keep them aired up because it is so powerful.

    Them SRAM type rotors warp so easily it's like the brakes are too powerful for the rotor and bend them when you brake or something they're 💩 Shimano IceTech are solid replacements, what are these Hope ones like are they really strong and don't warp?

    • @phoxrides
      @phoxrides 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I love IceTech rotors, but I didn't like how quickly they wore. I've burned through the outer layer of steel a few times. I'm a few years in on my current set of Hopes, no warping and really excellent brake feel.

    Came close to getting the Obsidian. Seems like a real nice ebike for sure but I waited and settled on the full suspension Ecell's 5 Star. 1,500w motor, 60v battery, 40amp controller, Tektro 4 piston hydraulic brakes.. I just love it. Most powerful, most comfortable e-bike I've ever ridden and for $300 less than the Obsidian.

    Been useing hope tech 4 e4 brakes snd hope rotors for 6 years. Never had an issue, they worked flawless! I even damaged them in a crash and was able to buy the parts to rebuild them. Again flawless.

  • @SourPatchPuss
    @SourPatchPuss 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I just bought Hope 220mm Centre-Lock rotors to replace basically new Magura MDR-Ps 220mm rotors that I could not get to stop rubbing, and the Hopes were more wavy than the Maguras! I had to use a center lock adapter for the Maguras bc for some reason they only make the 220mm MDR-Ps in 6-bolt. I thought this may be the cause of my constant brake rub, but apparently it was not. Fortunately I did buy a Park brake alignment tool and Ive been able to get both sets straight enough not to rub, but it never seems to last. A little play in the wheels, it rubs. A little side load on the trail, it rubs. A stiff breeze in the morning, it rubs. I kind of just accepted that its almost impossible to get a consistently perfect alignment on 220mm rotors, unless of course your brake pads retract a lot! Which mine do not as Im running XT/MT7 Shiguras.

    I haven't had Hope brakes for years, but both sets I had were junk(same with the hubs), I even had their fancy ventilated rotor. I run Intend rotors now because their science made sense, lots of tiny holes to maximise braking surface area and cooling surface area. Punching big holes in rotors just makes them get hot quicker and wear pads out fast for no real benefit. The rivets do almost nothing for alignment or heat transfer, stainless is a very poor conductor of heat. Multi piece construction reduces the chance of warping because aluminium expands at a much greater rate than stainless. So even though the hat doesn't get as hot as the braking surface it expands a similar amount. I'm a fat brake dragger that has tuned rotors black/blue but never warped one.

    Go watch Flow Mtb on them there the worst to put on they ding out of true to easy to shimano ice tech and sram! I love hope ran them for years but will only run the new vented discs on my tech 4 think they are 2.3mm thick I have shimano 203mm ice tech and full XT on my other bike they are alot better have to say than Hopes floating disc's hate to say it as hope is made here and ran hope components for past 25 year's but when comes to safety of stopping power the new Vented disc's they have are the way forward for hope
