1000+ Hours in MSFS Didn't Help me With Full Motion 737
So, I went to the full motion Boeing 737-800 simulator. Despite my substantial experiance in pc flight simming, my landings weren't as good as usual, as my hand flying was also worse. During such flights I learn a lot of new, embarrassingly obvious stuff about the plane that I wouldn’t have discovered by myself. This one wasn’t the exception. Today I’ll share with you my recent flight simming experience and discuss my mistakes. Welcome to Flight & Find’s last video of the year!

10 Things I WISH I DID Before my First Plane Spotting
มุมมอง 261หลายเดือนก่อน
A year ago, I went on my first ever poorly-planned plane spotting in Berlin airport. It was a wet, cold December day with poor visibility. It’s no wonder that I couldn’t get any nice shots, ending the day empty-handed. Since then, I visited more airports, and had a lot more of amateur, wanna-be-spotter mishaps. I mostly learned on these mistakes, so now it’s time for you not to repeat them! Joi...

Then I need to roll a randomizer wheel with the hardest airports for a selected plane type. I recorded my struggles to show them to you, so I hope you'll like it! Ah you tried that! Very good. I also always wondered for years how I would do in a real Airbus simulator after flying the Fenix... :D (But I was always too lazy to drive 400km and pay several hundreds of Dollars just for 30 minutes or so of real simulator flying.) Flying a real flight school Airbus simulator for the first time should be way more easy compared to fly a 737 simulator because an Airbus is fully computer-stabilized.
@@juliashenandoah3965 Yeah, in your case it's the thing that's worth it only if you have such opportunity spontaneously. I like Being for the yoke, as it is rudimentary but very immersive :)
if you had 1000 in the PMDG 737 you would have handled the sim better im sure
tHIS IS HAPPENNING WITH ME THE MOMENT I ENTERED AN AIRSPACE WHATEVER THE ATC SAID I DIDNT GET IT AND DISCONNECTED 😅😅😅
When it comes to maneuvers and landings the sim will teach you bad habits! When I started flying in real life I had to relearn how to land. Thankfully the physics are a bit better in 2024. The sim is still a great tool for procedures. Learning to land an aircraft is a big no. Its just not the same!
Mistake 1 MSFS half the systems do not work, The physics are trash Had you been using xplane with Zibo 737 you would have nailed it...over 1000 hours? and you did not know the basics most of us learn in the 1st 20 min..more proof MSFS is trash. not tring to be mean but you should learn with a study level sim and msfs is NOT ....jelous you got in the full motion sim thou Wish i could..
What is the simulation program in the video? Msfs?

I love your transparency and critical thought, nobody is perfect but acknowledging your mistakes, reviewing your footage and analyzing for improvement at such young age is not only extremely mature but also clear signal of your commitment and love for aviation. I'm amazed! When i was your age i was playing halo 3 and doing just doing stupid stuff with friends. Continue flying man! You'll get far! ;-)
Thank you, I appreciate it!
If I recall correctly on the engine start section, the middle switch is to select the igniter. Each is connected to a separate power bus, and the switch affects both engines.
@@sansaratech yeah, I didn't know that
Lol, that aileron input on the roll out to stay on centerline. I've done that, and unfortunately, some pilots in real life also! Sometimes in a panic you go to the basics and try to steer with the yoke.
Never been on a full motion flight sim, but even just a proper non full motion one is a MUST for any Avgeek. Also, an introductory flight in a Cessna at your local flight school is a treat as well. There's nothing like feeling the effects of a gust on a little plane and the feedback of the aerodynamic forces on the controls! Edit: As someone who started studying Aerospace Engineering and found it too drab and difficult and ended somewhere else, my advice to you is: If it doesn't work out and you want something more hands-on and less theoretical, jump to A&P or become a pilot.
You speak openly about your errors. That is a sign of real self-confidence and qualifies you for a job with a high level of responsibility. I'm sure you would make a good pilot.
That's my gang
XD
2:48 Boeing does recommend for Autothrottle to be disconnected when Autopilot is disconnected. In my opinion, it is good to knock the autothrottle off when you knock off the autopilot as well.
imma be honest i dont even have 100 hours in msfs in total and i know the stuff you didnt lol God bless you man, people learn tho
Thanks, so I just might know things that you don't 🫣😂

lol ya MSFS is a Joke I use zibo 737 in XP12 i tried the msfs and was laughable how crap it was
Won’t really make a difference in a real life scenario
MSFS can be used as a game or a simulator; you can choose to learn or just play. You could have found out all about the cold and dark setup and everything else you struggled with on the PMDG 737. All the same, I wish you well; try and read the included FCOM.
I could, however yeah, as you said, I was and am studying this plane in a pretty relaxed pace
excellent video! 1:05 I really wanna know from where you study about the B737-8 and its systems, could you please let me know?

You don't have to be embarassed, you learned from it and besides you paid for that flight experience.
А, ебать я думал мне просто кажется русский акцент хех
You shouldn't be embarrassed while you are learning. Everyone, including your instructor, was where you are right now and was learning for the first time.
Bro Waves by joakim kraud I thought I was the only person listening that song 😲
If you want to really know how to fly, start with smaller simpler aircraft lole a C172 or Piper Arrow or some simple piston. Once you can fly those, then you'll be ready for more complex aircraft
@@frequinnasty7303 Yeah, actually, I'm not planning on becoming commercial pilot, however I'd like to receive my ppl in the future
How did you ended up in a full motion sim?
@@tecsa30 paid money
Great video, loved it.
Sounds like u had a few bad habits…..which makes sense since u never had formal training. Thats ok…..we are always learning new things when we fly. The important thing is to use these tips in the future.
So basically you’ve got 1000+ hours doing the same thing and not learning anything. How can you not know how to correctly hand fly a plane? If you pull pack you’ll climb. Isn’t that obvious?
@@Chiefcheeseofcheddington Anything, eh? I am doing full flights on Vatsim with 737 from time to time, engaging autopilot after rotation and disconnecting it on final (reducing workload). As I said, I have these hours in the sim, not on the B737. Also as I said, I had problems with managing altitude while turning, not that I didn't know what pulling up does
Large transport category jet airliners are much more about systems management and crew resource management than actual flying. The autopilot will happily fly you through takeoff to touchdown if you want. In my flightsim experience, i engage AP around 20-25k feet into the SID and don't disengage it till well into final approach after managing the energy state of the aircraft to my satisfaction. Long story short, just hours on flight sims is not enough if you do not have a basic knowledge of systems, procedures, flows and checklists related to your aircraft type. Maybe downloading and studying the 737 NG FCOM, FCTM and QRH would go a long way towards improving your skills.
You have Pretty good photos! But i would Edit them.
Better simulator can give better expirience. Practice makes perfect. Я так то сам сим пилот в msfs 2020, хотя сейчас посиживаю в nuclear option.

Nice video! I wish you the best of luck with your flight simming journey, and remember to have fun! If you have not already, I really recommend watching videos from 'A330 Driver' about the PMDG 737NG for tutorials. He's a real-life airline pilot and flew the Boeing 737NG for several years (some time on the MAX as well!) before transferring over to the Airbus A330. His videos are super technical and helpful, and he's the reason as to why I've gotten so far in the Boeing 737 myself in my own flight simming experience.
Thanks! Yeah, I watch him from time to time
Honestly, just because you couldn't fly it doesn't mean that others can't. In my case, I've gone to full motion A320 simulators and with slightly less hours in MSFS I was able to I was able to make a more than professional flight. Which was not my first time in this type of simulator.
yawn..
I’m a pilot. The A320 is significantly easier to fly manually than the 737.
@@holobolo1661 FBW aircraft could have opted to keep the trim, but they didn’t. It’s an extra effort on top of the rest, and it’s not nearly the same as the trim in a Cessna, and not remotely the same as any consumer desktop sim and hardware.
No offence but just because you could not fly it, does not mean others also cannot. Your ability to learn in 1000hrs and others is vastly difference and this in no way is in disrespect to you.
I joined VATSIM a few days ago after some months on IVAO, and I really like it, very professionals (as IVAO ofc) and a lot of controllers connected, very satisfied.

MSFS = nice visuals and exciting bugs. For real systems and physics simulation. X-Plane
@@andre-7423 PMDG does simulate systems pretty accurately
For the 737 NG, between X-Plane and MSFS options system depth is better with the MSFS PMDG 737 vice the X-Plane Zibo or Levelup 737s
5:52 I made this same mistake when I was learning to fly gliders in real life. Great video btw I think I would have made the same errors as you!
I find it hard to believe that 1000+ hours, you missed all those points. I am at 300Hrs and I figured those out simply by observing what real pilots do (videos on youtube). Another thing I figured out is that the landing lever of the 737-800 needs to be in the middle position a few minutes after you put it in the up position so that the hyrdraulic system won't be doing its thing anymore.
@@brandonj158 Important to mention that I have 1000 hours in the sim, not on the 737 as I just fly it for fun whenever I have some free time
Everyone learns differently so don't be so critical of him. Everyone has challenges when learning anything. I consider myself relatively capable but while earning my associate's degree in computer technologies, my bachelor's in cyber security, and 20 professional I/T certifications, I had many obstacles. Almost everyone experiences difficulties while attending their education and maybe you're the exception.
I also thought of this, but the thing is - watching simmers on TH-cam everyone does it a little differently, because they know its a sim and they can make some shortcuts. Most important thing when learning virtually is -verify with real checklists or SOPs from virtual airlines who source their knowledgebase from real life pilots. Always QRH are available for many aircraft types. Never trust one information source.
@@CommentCritic Yeah, I noticed that I regularly take many shortcuts on my Vatsim flights (like not turning on packs before the engine start up)
@@CommentCritic yeah, also every company has it's own SOP so even on the same aircraft there will be operational differences. Simmers do a fantastic job of researching and it's quite admirable the level of commitment people have in learning how to do things right
Over the entire simming platform i have over 75,000hrs could be more and yes its way different than the real thing however you cannot leave at 1000hrs and head to the motion.
You could try watch more of this youtube channel A330 Driver (Formerly B737 Driver due recent A330 type rating) an actual airline pilot who mostly content are MSFS.
