How this song was "made" techadjacent.substack.com/p/ai-music-creation-is-here-will-it
What's the point of connecting a keyboard to the instrument that is worse than what the instrument includes?
What do you think?
@@cookedaudio It could be some crappy homemade thing made from doorbell buttons.
@@zongihangi11 The thing I made? I think it's super fun to play, but to each his own I guess.
First wiring was OK... if not, you must always press the button to sound ... I made it on all my guitars, first wiring was good. Killswitch must kill when is pressed and sound when you don't press the button. For me the best ones are the arcade buttons... they are just amazing
Yeah, lots of fun. Second method works for some styles, but I would agree that it is not as useful.
What does the Dual Mode kill switch do that the single mode kill switch can't do?
The video shows how to hook it up for normally on or normally off
Literally just popped in my head and you are already creating a prototype 😅👍🏾💯 Great minds think alike.
Very cool. Thanks for checking it out!
well it's a cheap guitar i presume. no way in hell would i do that to something pricey. Luthiers gotta start somewhere and i guess you're on your way.
Your assumption is correct. Not aiming to be a luthier per se, but enjoy experimenting.
How to break your guitar, and make sure it sounds broken.
It's meant as a platform to help me experiment with new ideas. Maybe others will find it useful.
@@cookedaudio I'd recommend learning how to play first. Then you'll be a better judge of whether destroying your guitar is a good idea or not.
@@antonyfaulkner8649 I see.
Practice before you post.
Have a heart and a thumbs up. Sounds like you need it.
Sounds exactly like Clapton
Thank you, that is what I was going for.
Haha he’s amazing lol
Thanks ;-)
Guitar “played” 😂
??
Lady’s & Gentlemen “Brett Favre!”
Ha, I will take that as a compliment!
Pretty sure I have the same tele kit. Did you get it off TEMU?
No Amazon... But certainly could be the same kit.
@@cookedaudio Same headstock and everything. I left mine unfinished, just assembled and sanded the back of the neck. Plays and sounds pretty awesome for like $57.
@@weedian710 That is awesome. I need to start looking around on TEMU. I finished mine with teak oil, and added a killswitch as seen here: th-cam.com/video/ib7esjL8ZYo/w-d-xo.html - would recommend both if you are OK with taking a break from guitar for a couple days.
Relax your right wrist. It will straighten out and you'll stop forcing the notes and it will feel more natural. 🎸
Thanks, I will have to give that a try!
This is such a unique channel, found you off another channel during my rabbit hole research on hexaphonic and single string pickups (like Atlansia) glad I found ya, cant wait to see what else youll come up with!
Well thank you! I'm hoping I can bring a unique perspective to this sort of thing as I'm a much more experienced engineer than musician. Working on a drum machine that I hope you're able to check out soon!
Love the tele!
Well thank you! It was from a kit, which I think turned out pretty well!
Do you know Smoke on the Water?
Should've played floods
Мой лайк был 100-ым
I need this for no reason
Story of my life. Or my projects at least. Ha.
Awesome! Do you have an extra one laying around that I could buy from you?
Well thank you! I actually made an improved version that I haven't put a video out on yet. I've got some extra PCBs around so I'm sure we could figure something out. Assuming you have my contact info handy, shoot me an email and we can discuss!
Some months ago I built a killswitch that is attached to the cable and not the guitar (It's made like a pedal but lighter so I can have at the same level of the guitar) I guess I could build a new one based on this rotary switch...
Cable killswitch is an interesting idea! LMK if you try this, I'd love to hear what you think.
This would be useful for playing greek folk music, I'm talking baglama solos
Had to look that up. What a neat instrument - so three strings/sets of strings, at least some of which are doubled?
@@cookedaudio yes, three doubled pairs of strings although the turkish version has an extra string for bass
Very cool
TREMOLATOR SPINNN!
Exactly!
Why did you make such a massive route for the switch.
It's a modular insert, so I can experiment with other ideas in the future. Here's the story of that bit: th-cam.com/video/fi77rEZNqhU/w-d-xo.html
@@cookedaudio Oh ok makes sense now. Thats actually a smart idea
Well thank you!
Sweet project! I think it could be a bit more usable to decrease the resolution though if possible, maybe down to like 1/4 or so. That would allow it to sound more like a button kill switch with the slower on/off gate when turning slowly, but use the benefits of the knob design to spin it quickly and get that choppy sound if preferred. I think at the current high resolution it does sound more like a faulty cable, as the other comment states. Either way, super cool!
Thanks for your comment! That's an interesting idea, perhaps I should give a lower-resolution encoder a try (or at least demo it spinning slower, ha). Perhaps I'll do a followup at some point!
All this can be replaced with just a faulty cable 😂 But seriously, i love it
Lol, maybe so! I'd love to hear about it if you decide to duplicate the build!
LISTEN TO JEREMY'S UPGRADED GUITAR SKILLS! Holy Potatoes!
Well thank you!
For more info on the hole/insert where this device resides, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/fi77rEZNqhU/w-d-xo.html
I don't even know what to say when I look at this.
Always nice to hear when my videos make one speechless ;-)
Gibson had a similar system with their Axess Les Paul, where you could change the pickups.
Very neat! Had seen at least one other swapping device, but didn't know Gibson tried such a thing. Guess it wasn't a huge success?
That plexiglass one back in the day, forgot who made it……
@@bobhope4949 Dan Armstrong Lucite. Granted you could only change the bridge pickup on that one.
the layers of ply are to maintain stability because single ply pickguards crack or warp under sunlight. As far as i know. But being used to make designs also makes sense so i dunno for due lol
Thanks for letting me know. That makes sense.
What is type of circuit is that killswitch Module circuit?
I'm using an encoder as a killswitch, which grounds out the signal. There's a drawing of the setup at 9:01. Working on a video about that specifically, and hope to have it up in a week or two. Thanks for your comment, would love to hear your thoughts once I get the "kill wheel" explained properly!
i would usually tell someone in your position to not worry about modding your guitars until you have enough expirience under your belt and know exactly what it is you want and need in a guitar, but you seem to know what your doing as far as electrical engineering and prototyping so thats really cool.
It's been fun approaching things from an engineering perspective with a more limited musical knowledge. Thanks so much for your comment. I've got some other fun builds planned/in progress so I hope you will check back!
and it is "pi-e-zo" and not "pi-zeo"
Thanks!
very nice idea, though I would have put the controls on the top surface of the standing 2by4 so it is easier to touch
Thanks! You are probably right about the controls, thinking about it now. Always interesting to look back at a project and consider it from a new angle.
That light-up guitar plug-in module is really boss! Nice work, Jeremy!
Thanks Pat!
This hot-swap device is REALLY convenient for trying out new ideas. Anything else I should do with it?
Pitch bender, mabey an octave selector ya can run through different octaves. Tom morello shit
@@bobhope4949 Thanks for the suggestions! Have been considering how to make a quick-select normally on/normally off killswitch, but haven't quite gotten around to it. So many ideas!
