What I Learned After a Year of Using Vintage Lenses For Filmmaking and Why You Need Them!
In this episode I want to share my experience with vintage lenses after a year of using them for filmmaking. Showcase the results I was able to achieve and point out some pros and cons. As well as image quality, character, performance, affordability, some common problems, and lens servicing.
For the past year I have used and tasted around 20 vintage lenses and built 3 sets of Carl Zeiss Jena, Contax Zeiss, and Canon FD. You can find the links down below. (They're Awesome!)
We will also discus some vintage lenses that were used in Dune 2 and Army of the Dead movies, and what makes them special.
Hopefully, this information will help you decide if it is worth for you to invest your money and time in vintage lenses.

The mark 1 X-Trans sensor in the X-Pro 1 was special in terms of color and tonality and the match with the rendering of the 35 1.4 is very special, I completely agree with you. If you are not shooting anything fast moving, it can be a killer combination still.

The best place I have discovered to get the highest quality Helios 44-2 is via Iron Glass in their Cine-Modded section. It costs a bit extra, but they will source the lenses for you, clean the lenses, add up to 16 aperture blades, de-click lens and add the correct mount (PL, Sony E, Canon EF, M4/3 and FUJI mounts) without the need for an adapter which is so nice. They also add gears to the aperture and focus rings. They add a 77mm front thread for filters and also will add an anamorph-fake with different options and flare tints. Probably the most thorough way to ensure its gonna work great! They also offer this type of service for a whole range of soviet vintage lenses from 16mm-135mm and even offer them in lens sets that work well together.

Thanks for sharing your experience with your Outback Vlad. I agree that Subaru have made a serious alternative to the vehicles you described. I somewhat like their big touchscreen and yet I wish they had a few more essential buttons rather than having to use the screen to access frequently required essentials (how much to repair/replace that touchscreen and how one cannot operate certain features if it fails to work) = maybe they will modify it with more buttons during newest versions of Outback. Anyway, happy for you. May the Ukraine be victorious against Putin and may your Allies from Europe and USA, Canada and many others who stand against such an Autocrat/Dictator, and may some USA voters awaken to not vote in a wannabe dictator/king who unfortunately is running for the Republican presidential ticket (hypnotizing many with his rhetoric, expects complete loyalty and submission like an Antichrist and has a history of being a compulsive liar… and is a Putin supporter).
