VCF Midwest 2024 // Local on the 8s // Chicago O'Hare - Sep 7, 2024 12:28 PM CDT // IS1
I got to grab some captures of an authentic IS1 unit at VCF Midwest 2024 this past weekend. The unit was configured as units appeared in 2006-07, before the full version 2 graphics were applied. While IS1s are capable of generating audio, it was not connected at VCF, so I dubbed in narrations and music myself.
Very special thanks to the Genericable guys for bringing the STARs and keeping them running, and for letting me hang out with them throughout the weekend. I'm happy to say that I have a few more videos from the weekend to post in the coming weeks too, so stay tuned!

*ABOUT THE INTELLISTAR 1*
The IntelliSTAR 1 was one of several units sold to cable headend providers by TWC that was capable of generating local forecasts and overlaying narrations over the background music. The IS1 was officially launched for local forecasts in 2004 and retired in 2015. During its tenure, the IS1 received a handful of graphics packages. IS1 units were also responsible for running Weatherscan during this era and as late as 2022 in some locations.
