Mountainbiking for the Heart
Germany
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 เม.ย. 2022
Welcome to Mountainbiking for the Heart!!! I made this channel to help others that have had a heart attack get into mountain biking and to share videos of my adventures!
I'm in my 40's and a Retired U.S. Army veteran living in Germany. I started truly mountain biking in 2021 after I had a heart attack out of nowhere. I suffer from a genetic disease where my body is trying to kill me. I lost some heart muscle from the heart attack, and I am using mountain biking to build my fitness back up and enjoy as much of the beautiful outdoors as I can while doing it. Hopefully I will be able to entertain some of you. Thanks for visiting and I hope you come back to see some more of my adventures!

What Does the Future of the Channel Look Like? A quick update on where the channel is heading.
Hello again Subscribers and maybe some new viewers. This is a quick overview of what I have coming up in the future on my very small channel.
If you are new here, please Subscribe so you don't miss the future content! I'm not getting payed for my channel, but a rising subscriber count drives me to make more, and better content!
So as I was saying above... In this video I just talk about a few points that are either coming up, or changing on the channel. I have some reviews of AliExpress products coming up for the thrifty. There will be a new bike joining the fleet in the spring. I'll show you all what I decide to pick up, and the reasons I chose that bike. I'm also going to try to bring some more personality into my videos with less script, and more shooting from the hip. I'll also be hitting a bunch of bike spots this year. I'm planning to make some better bike spot content while visiting them this year also. Not just the raw videos and shorts I've been doing in the past.
Hopefully the coming year will be a good one. I would really love to grow the Mountainbiking for the Heart community. Hit me up if you live in Franken and want to shred together! I would love to hang out and make some new friends.
Well, that's it for now. Never Stop Shredding!!!
Dave out!

you can change the bearings on the bottom bracket with durable ones. Saves you money than buying a whole bb.
That's an option. I ride a lot in rainy and muddy conditions though and usually just throw a ceramic BB from a reputable brand in.
Hey tanks man I was looking to buy one and you really helped thanks from the French alps dude
Glad I could help!
Sir cam you tell me your primal mullet set specs sir..plsss
What information would you like? If you watched the Primal build/review video I covered it pretty well. Just let me know what else I can help you with.
are you using 29er sir , mullet set up?
Mullet.
What is the size of your crank arm sir??
I run a 160mm crank on the Primal.
Can you review dartmoor roc bird frame Greetings from PH
I would love to review the Rocbird frame. If Dartmoor only Dartmoor would loan me one. 😊 Can't foot the bill to buy one at the moment. 😢
👍👍👍
This is how NOT to do an MTB tire review. Lots of blah blah, but no weight and no width
I would slide every corner
One of the reasons I love riding it. Very good training for bike control!
I didn’t care for the pentagram or inverted cross that you placed on thumbnail for the video. However, the feedback that you provided for the tire does seem quite favorable.
@@robotbroken Yeah, the text I used in the title isn't for everyone. Thank you for letting me know that it offended you. I am always open to criticism. Only if I know what I can improve, am I able to improve it. I'm really happy you were still able to enjoy the video though.
Yeah I don't like the star of David either ;)
I'm intrigued by these tires graphene content. Supposed to help them last longer. I had Continental Race King Protection tires with the Black Chili compound and they just wouldn't wear out on my two hardtails. Excellent grip too. Expensive tires, with the right compound, are actually better value than cheaper normal tires.
@@Velocus-p3z The Vittoria tires do last a bit longer than other brands I've ridden, that's not just marketing. I've definitely noticed they roll a bit better too. One point you make is a really good one, that isn't always easy to get across. Paying a little extra for a tire with a good rubber compound pays dividends in grip and wear resistance. It might cost a bit more, but you'll enjoy your ride more, and ride longer! I think 🤔 Continental uses silica in the Black Chili compound. Vittoria added silica to their Enduro Race compound and it wears remarkably slow for how soft the rubber is.
Dang, doesn’t that shit give you cancer? :(
nice job getting 113 subs
@@Rey-Lux Thanks. It's been a long road but I'm getting there. 100 was the goal for this year. Next year I'm shooting for 500!
I bought an Aliexpress bottom bracket tool, a 16 notch 'socket type' one, and because I was a new customer it cost €1 !!! And my god its astonishingly well made from anodised cnc milled aluminium, and works utterly beautifully...I can't imaging Park Tool's €50 one being any better. Im a home mechanic, not a shop, so longevity isn't an issue for me, but I was astounded by the quality of the nicely finished tool...Heppe brand, and I got it two months ago. Cheers!
Awesome! AliExpress has some good products for very good prices. Granted, they are mixed in among a lot of junk, but sometimes it works out. Glad you found a good one!

Great video. Wish I came across it sooner as I already bought my 160mm Golidx. Luckily did not get the full bundle, cranks only.... but I did separately buy a bottom bracket in Meroca brand bc my bike is Raceface 30mm BB92 pressfit and Goldix is 24mm. Haven't installed yet as waiting for my riser handlebars to arrive. The cranks were slightly more at $39USD vs yours were $30USD converted. Not sure why. Just for reference, what height and inseam are you? Converted, I am 178cm tall, 75cm inseam and 102Kg.
The prices fluctuate a little on AliExpress. That could be the reason I payed less. Could also be taxes and import duties. Every country has different rates. I'm 165cm tall and have a 80cm inseam.
Total crap

Mono sound isn't for me, couldn't listen
Hey no harm meant but you should try to get the audio stereo as of now it's only in my left ear and it would make your already educative video all that more enticing
Oh crap. Sorry. I didn't notice that. Thanks for letting me know! I had stereo before exporting.
I thought that was just me ha ha I migrated from road/track to mtb recently. Clipped in was too much for me on downhill runs. Flat just felt wrong. Ended up with a set of very concave pedals, both front-rear and L-R concave. It's actually hard to get my foot off sometimes. Shimano does a set with SPD one side, flat the other. I've considered drilling them for pins on the flat side, but there hasn't been a rainy enough day. This infuriates trackies by the way - they can see the logic behind it, but "you're not using the lightest pedal available?? And you're riding your track bike TO the track??" I swear wearing lycra leads to brain damage. One of these days I'll let them know I'm also running tubeless and take a gravel track to get there.
No, not just you. That uneasy feeling when pointed downhill clipped in is just human. It goes away with time and experience though. Just keep shredding and it'll get better. No need to drill the Shimano combi pedals. There are a lot of companies that offer combination/hybrid pedals with SPD. Some companies even do SPD better than Shimano.

@@MTB4TH Nächstes Jahr Downhill fahren.🚴🚴🚴🚴
This is by no means just a Germany thing, I rather think it's a mountain-country vs flat-country thing. Or even mountain-region vs. flat-region. Some blue trails in western Norway might be classified as black if they were located in eastern Sweden. Is this good? No - but kind of inevitable, else some regions would have only green and blue trails or other regions would have only black trails! Every MTB rider must know that they need to adjust their expectation to the local difficulty baseline.
I see your point, although I have noticed that the trails are rated more difficult than they are in all areas of Germany that I've ridden. Regardless of if the trails are located in a flat(ish) or mountainous area.
have you ever crashed on those trails?
Oh, many crashes. Only one with a camera running though, and the camera didn't survive.

i got one with a ceramic bb and a 2 x chaing for my gravel bike I'm 6ft with bad knees I love them all I just bought the arms always pick and choose on Aliexpress
Awesome. I have heard short cranks are good for people who suffer from knee problems.
Watching this video makes me want to rebuild my primal frame in the garage loft, but that's an aside. I splashed out £35 for the BB, 155mm goldix and 28T round cassette to fit on my wife's nukeproof mega build - It's a 290, but she preferred a mullet, and hence, we ran into ground clearance issues with the 175mm shimano cranks that we ported over onto the new frame. Paired with a 28T oval, she's now able to spin up technical rooty climbs without bottoming out the crank or catching it on roots. The plus side is that she doesn't feel as fatigued on climbs, despite losing the leverage, with her only being 5'9 and 29" inside leg, purely because she can spin up. I quite enjoyed using it (same height) for a local trail loop too and will be contemplating buying a set of 160mm cranks without the BB or chain ring, if I can source a locally made 28T oval for my nukeproof giga. Build quality I would say is on par with Shimano's deore. Fininishing and machining on the goldix is as good as any other far-eastern produced bike component and having the chromoly axle for strength will also mean we shouldn't run into fatigue/endurance issues if the spindle was aluminium, like on some other ali express parts (the 5DEV conterfeits, for example). Wife is 105kg kitted out, so we'll see how it holds out. The only bummer is that because it's an M18 preload cap, my wife's oil slick end cap from her SLX cranks couldn't go on. Sad times. As for the supplied chainring, I noticed it came in a snail branded package. I've used snail floating rotors on 2 of my bikes and they do the job reasonably well, so I don't have any reason to doubt its performance. Great purchase though for the price before you invest in pricier short cranks (unite components in the UK are £200 before you pair it up with a chain ring).
I originally bought these cranks just to test shorter cranks and see if short cranks were as great as everyone was raving about. The plan was to scrap them or give them away after testing, but the way they're performing... I'm going to keep them a while longer. I also run a 28 tooth oval with the shorter cranks. With a little higher cadence I don't notice any power loss on ordinary climbs. Only when it gets really steep and technical do I miss the extra little bit of torque. Not a big deal though as I usually try to avoid those climbs because of my weak heart. Spinning is much easier for me. 😁 The chainring I got with mine was in a clear plastic bag in the box, with no branding at all. As I said in the video though, I only run ovals and haven't tested it. If you decide to get the 160 millimeter cranks for yourself, let me know how both crank sets perform over time. I'll be hitting some bigger drops and features with mine and plan on putting out a follow up review in January.
I am just in process of deciding if i am going to build primal or buy used bike. Your video may push me toward building one. I just donk like factory specs.
I didn't like the factory specs either. Most of their builds are geared more towards the budget market. The quality of the frames though take well to higher spec parts.
Nothing like a relaxed ride 😁 Thanks for the mention!
Thanks for the inspiration! 😁
