    Huts can be made of any material, by any culture. No one associates the word "hut" solely with African construction. Also, "African" is not a monolithic culture. There are many distinctly different cultures in Africa. Get the chip off your shoulder.

      I am not talking about the rest of the world here, I am talking about my African community and what we gotta do to change the perception of the world and our people. Today, many of my people who unfortunately inheritated a colonial education system think very much like the rest of the world. That somehow we were poor and we lived in temporary primitive buildings and the only way for us to move forward with development the only way to do this is to erect concrete all over our land and we need to change that thought process. Again this video is for my people to raise awareness on the work we need to do. We need to take the narrative back!

    So the “proof that Africans never lived in mud huts” is the fact that the English word hut has European origins? A mud hut by any other name is still a hut made of mud.

    • @mudhouses
      @mudhouses 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      1st the English language is very limited compared to many indigenous languages. The western idea and description of African architecture for centuries has intentionally used very limited words like huts to undermine our indigenous architecture, our contributions and impose what they deem to be superior. You are obviously triggered by what I say because its obvious you share the same limiting perceptions and ideas. In this video I challenge that thought process because if you see the thought process of where the word originated from, it can never measure up to the descriptions or words we should use to describe the opulence, and stature of our indigenous buildings. As you can see in the two photos I used with precolonial architecture, they never looked anything like the miserable stick building the French soldiers built. If anything, western scientists, architecture professionals, researchers and many more have come back to the motherland to learn about these indigenous buildings that are thriving today. Educate yourself! Thats what I am advocating for my people here, that the narrative is inaccurate and whether you like it or not, there are real people like me on the ground working towards change. Its way past time, and if you don't like it, or get triggered well, atleast it tells me I am on the right path. So thanks for being my litmus test.

    The USA and other european countries told African leaders that if they wanted to send their exports to their countries, then used textile will have to be imported back to African countries. That's the deal that was made and african countries who have tried to get out of the deal, have been sanctioned. I think Uganda and Zimbabwe are examples.

    With due respect, I believe the first issue favoring the use of the dome shape pertains to meeting the demands of the rainy season and the dry season. In some locals the home is primarily used for sleeping or as shelter from significant rain storms. The lack of windows is partly to save on cost and keeping the structure strong. The temperature difference inside and outside is very significant.

  • @kennethklein6213
    @kennethklein6213 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    These, with one exception, are NOT African traditional architecture. They are late 20th Century LUXURY hotels w/African motifs. Built by foreign money, for monied foreign tourist, to attract foreign investors by capitalizing on perceived exoticism. Disney is also quite good at this. Across Africa people build structures they can afford to live in. Traditional methods are expensive, labor intensive, and require constant maintenance . New styles of African traditional structures are being built, but it is much cheaper to build with lower cost European materials from simple European imitative blueprints. All elements of style in 18th & 19th century African architecture is being incorporated into the creation of Modern African structures.

    In the mid 70s I went to the village in western Uganda, my grandfather had a traditional ankole hut he used to sit in during the day, drink his local brew and make traditional mats. The hut was all thatch without walls. When it was time to thatch he would call his friends to help. And they all knew how to do it. They are all dead now with all the techniques

    Summary of the Video: Traditional African Dome-shaped Homes Introduction The video discusses the traditional African architecture of dome-shaped homes and the reasons behind their unique design. Characteristics of Traditional African Dome-shaped Homes - Many traditional African homes feature dome-shaped roofs or entire structures without windows. - Examples of dome-shaped buildings from the Musgum community and the Dingurai Mosque in Guinea are highlighted. Ventilation in Dome-shaped Homes - Dome-shaped structures naturally regulate temperature, as demonstrated by an experiment with pepper under a dome or pyramid shape. - The design allows for natural air circulation, aiding in cooling during hot weather. Benefits of Mud Houses - Mud houses are known for their ability to keep interiors cool during extreme temperatures. - Natural ventilation achieved through dome or pyramid shapes contributes to the overall sustainability of traditional African architecture. Importance of Utilising Indigenous Knowledge - Embracing traditional architectural designs can lead to more sustainable and environmentally friendly homes. - By incorporating indigenous knowledge, modern homes can be built in a more natural and sustainable way. Call to Action - Viewers are encouraged to experiment with dome shapes to understand their benefits. - Conscious consumerism is promoted, urging individuals to consult with experts in traditional architecture before building homes. - Architects are challenged to incorporate African architectural designs into modern buildings, leading to a preservation of cultural heritage and sustainable practices. Conclusion The video emphasises the importance of utilising local materials, embracing indigenous knowledge, and challenging the status quo in architectural design to create more sustainable and culturally rich living spaces in Africa.

    I have no issue with African architecture, the issue is that we as Africans haven’t improved on it very much. It’s still treated as an after thought, we need to figure out how to infuse modern elements into our traditional architecture. One great strength our architecture has is colour and style, we need to play on that strength and improve on the structure itself. I don’t care what Europeans think, my concern is how we should improve on what we have .

    Raised African grainaries are millennias old not centuries old. They are depicted in Hatshepsut's tomb showing the homeland of the Pwenet (Puntites) which would have been in modern Eritrea/northern Ethiopia and align with ethnic groups such as Hamer who still raise their grainaries.

    The experiment suggested at 3:44 the explanation given isn’t accurate no fault to the author as the truth to that mystery is a heavily guarded one even in this age of information the science of vibration is still obscured by mystery to the majority of the human population. To learn and understand the phenomena you must understand the mechanism behind what the French scientists term shape caused waves which the they rediscovered the purpose and function of many of the Egyptian tools and hieroglyphs. Specifically louis turenne the French radiasthesist. Yet most of his work are extremely hard to come by so would recommend you look up biogeometry to get a good sense of the science of Africans which is still employed till this day though mainly in secrecy for reasons unbeknownst to me.

    This was a great video Sistah, I would just like to pinpoint something. Paraphrasing what the great Dr. Amos Wilson stated “If we (Afrakan people) want to understand the problems we face globally, we must look at the people who profit from the problems, not who suffers it.” Who’s profiting off of these lies being told about our culture? Who’s profiting off our “miseducation”? Nobody but the global system of white supremacy. Words like “Westernization” or “modernity” are concepts created to allude us from the true culprit…. White people and the system they created. Idk if you are scared or just don’t know but the system of Global white supremacy is and has always been the problem for us as Afrakan people. We have been culturally misorientated and think white ice is colder or better than black ice. We need to return back to our ancestral ways and advance what needs to be advance. Abibifahodie ❤️🖤💚
