Smile at people and greet them but be your own person. Most people who go to fairs don't want to spend a lot of money there so use it as a good opportunity to promote your work. Choose fairs carefully with your target audience in mind. Not a waste of time though as the knowledge you gain is invaluable.

I'm honestly surprised it's such a reoccurring debate of whether or not pattern testers are being scammed. If you're volunteering to test a pattern, you're getting a pattern for free and contributing to the fiber arts community. As long as you get the final free pattern, I think it's a neat thing to do. Not everything has to be monetized, and I feel that it brings the community closer together.

I mostly crochet and sometimes knit but one thing that annoys me is when people take a pattern that is easily accessible and free on most platforms and sell it as their own. For example, the loaf cat and bras. Of course everyone has "their own way" of making it but why sell it when you KNOW it isn't an original pattern and you most likely took it from someone else? Of course there's some exceptions to it such as selling a pattern for a customized version of loaf cats or bras, however if you're just selling the exact thing that you can find on youtube, I think it's unoriginal and lowkey theft.

I have a pair of nail clippers with my knitting. They are great emergency scissors, yes, but really it's because there's nothing worse than trying to knit/crochet and having a rough spot on my nail catch every stitch.

My granddaughter knits, and you have given me some great ideas for gifts for her and some ideas for custom-made items to help her store and organize her things.

Over the years I've learned to set my knitting goals based on how many stitches I'm capable of knitting in a year versus number of projects. Recently I've learned that even the amount of stitches I can knit depends on if it's stockinette or if I need to follow a chart. I get a lot less stitches knit if I'm having to constantly check where I'm at on the chart. So I take my goals with a big grain of salt. Better goals for me are as you mentioned, learning techniques, or picking projects that use up my minis for example, or focus on reducing my stash.

I encourage you to keep crafting with the colors you like the most! If knitting is a hobby then it needs to bring us joy and if what makes you happy is knitting blue things then you should totally knit all the blue things that you want! And if people question that, well, you're the one knitting and wearing the items so who cares?😃💙

2025 is my year of fearless knitting. I will try one Brioche project, one two cables projects, and two colorwork projects, and socks. Double knitting is intriguing. Happy knitting 🧶

Brioche took me a moment, but it's ridiculously simple once it clicks (it honestly just feels like slips and knits/purls to me now). I did a really good class on it through an online group - it helped more than a TH-cam tutorial, because the instructor was interactive.

Hope you finish the socks. I too am doing socks for gifts and I find I don't mind doing one sock at a time bit I am more of a process knitter. I like the relaxed movement and rhythm. End product is a plus but I just take my time, which makes the project last a long while. Also when I mention doing colorwork inside out, what you do is push your work inside out. So for example, on magic loop working needle is in the back and the front facing you is the yarn. You don't purl stitches ( people find this harder unless you so portuguese method like I do purling is easier) you work knitting from the inside and for colorwork the float will travel a bit longer as you stretch the stitches a bit and switch colors. When colorwork is done you flip the work out and knit rest if sock as normal. No purling needed unless you doing ribbing or special stitches. I hope this make sense.

My mom gives sock for Christmas every year for as long as I remember! Store bought, but as an adult, I now appreciate this gift soooo much.

Glad I found your channel even though I'm sure I'm not your target audience. Since I snowbird I too have no need for the heavy sweaters that are often featured in other videos. I also knit for my daughter (your age) so I appreciate getting ideas for her.

I think that the first point is useful not only in creating content, but in general life. We all have different capabilities and skill set and we can do different amount of things than other people. And it's okay. It just makes us unique and human. When I first started knitting I was like 'oh, I need to knit a jumper in a week like my Granny' but now I don't think like that, she knits for almost 80 years, of course she's able to do it, I knit for a year and just don't have that set of skills yet. Maybe one day I'll be able to do it, maybe not. It's okay too. It's not a contest. Oh and Rehat made from Kureyon is dream combination, it looks so cool!
