Mr Bill's Paracord Cross
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 มี.ค. 2014
This channel is dedicated to how I learned to tie what I am calling a Vertical Crown Knot and passing this knowledge to everyone. I've searched for this knot and have not found it. I learned it in 1974 when as a young E3 in the US Navy I was assigned, for six months, to clean the barracks. The manager was a Boatswains Mate. This rate usually ties all of the decorative knots found on Navy ships. Because of my interest in knot tying he showed me how to tie this and several other knots to make belts, camera straps, purses, hanging lamps, and many other things.
The Vertical Crown Knot is the first half of a Square, or Cobra, Knot with a twist. In the videos I show how to make a cross necklace with the knot. From start to finish I can make a cross necklace in 15 minutes using a little less than 9' of 550 paracord. I've also used 95 paracord to make smaller crosses.
Here are the cord lengths I use:
550 paracord: 1 - 50" and 3 - 18"
95 paracord: 1 - 43" and 3 - 12"

"Paracord" Cross Using Stranded String
Use "stranded" string, or rope, rather than "braided" cord (paracord) to give your projects a different look. This cross, or fob, is made using a 4-cord crown knot.

Paracord Cross (Vertical Crown Knot or Double Crown Sinnet)
มุมมอง 921K9 ปีที่แล้ว
Tutorial for making a paracord cross using a Vertical Crown Knot. This is the first I know of this knot being taught on the internet. I learned this knot from a Boatswain's Mate, who was the barracks manager, In 1974. I was assigned to clean the barracks for six months as a young E3 in the US Navy . Since this makes two back-to-back crown knots with a side weave it could be called a Double Crow...

Thank you for your service. This has to be the best cross i seen made with paracord. Most the sides are loose and never fully attached to the middle. Thank You again for making this video. God Bless
Hi.. what size of paracord are you using?
In this video it is 550 paracord.
OMG... Thanks a lot for sharing this 🙏❤️ This is a very original knot and very masculine, just what I was looking for. Greetings from Argentina ❤️❤️

I used to do this with trash bags in prison.
Hello, I'm brand new to your Channel. I want to make a pet memorial for the side of the road. I thought using paracord that I've worked with before would be great because it would withstand the elements. Have you made anything that you could suggest I use in this capacity? I was thinking I could bend a simple cross frame from metal, and then use paracord over it. Any suggestions would be awesome ️ ❤️
Well done sir, awesome.
hey Mr.Bill, I just love the tutorial for the magnificent cross. thank you so very much.
LEOYSilA 💙💙💙
I am going to try this for a Christmas present.
en español. Por favor. Xd
Bill, strong tutorial. Well done.
Wau! This is so nice looking knot. Thank you for sharing your Vertical Crown Knot. I'm going to try this with "empty/flattened" paracord (taking the white stuff out of the cord).
I do not take the inner strings out. And, it will make a better looking knot if you melt both ends of the paracord before tying the knot. If you do not melt the ends, the center strings come out of the ends and the paracord flattens. The result will be not making a nice, consistent knot.
@@williamjohnson1908 Yes, I know you didn't take the inner cord out. I just want to make a bracelet for a woman and so it would be little smaller that way :). I want to try how it looks. Melting the ends - sure. Thanks!
@@Paudeli1 You may also try 90 paracord. I use it often to make smaller items.
@@mrbillsparacordcross6103 I have used 1mm and 1,7 mm macrame cords. Have ordered 1mm paracord, too. I use these when making bracelets with beads. I don't live in USA and it's not easy to find every paracord sizes here. Need to purchase from abroad.
I LIKE IT! THANK U FOR SHARING GOD BLESS U GENTLEMAN!⚘🙏👑🤗🙋♀️
Beautiful
You sound like "jhon Locke" from lost
Cheers Mate!
Love this knot! Is it possible to double the width of this knot? Make it an 8 strand knot?
Slick....I like it ...thanks...
Do you have a pic or a quick video of your clamp...???
Will this work with a satin rattail cord?
I've tried this knot with all types of cord, string, ribbon and rope. When I could not melt the ends I would use a clear glue to terminate the knot.
bellissima... ciao from brooklyn ny
Can recommend paracord thickness, are you using 550 or the smaller diameter ones? Thank you and God bless you.
550 with the strands. I’ve found melting the ends, so the inner strands cannot slide out, makes a more consistent knot.
Nice skill, what about the hidden part?
I think you’re asking, “What is in the clamp?” This video was a lead into a tutorial for making a cross necklace using the double crown sinnet. The beginning of this video may answer the question better than I could describe: th-cam.com/video/2Lh85Cne2-c/w-d-xo.html . However, if you were wanting more information on my work board watch this video: th-cam.com/video/8ospIyoAn-4/w-d-xo.html . I hope this helps.
