THE VERY BEST 'E LUCEVAN LE STELLE'
Clip from the brilliant Christof Loy production in 2018 for the Finnish National Opera, starring Andrea Carè as Cavaradossi and Henri Uusitalo as the jailor. Love love love the starkness of the lighting here -- the absolute stillness at the beating heart of this aria, where Cavaradossi simply doesn't NEED to move around is riveting.
This whole production is wonderful: intimate, full of interesting hints of possible political sympathizers, as well as the addition of a non-speaking character who, nevertheless, makes perfect sense within the context of the action. Bravo Loy -- Bravo Carè -- Bravo Uusitalo!

    The setting is good but he should have faced the audience, I like the shadows on the wall. It is a voice with some potencial, unfortunately his high notes are restricted and he has a wobble. It is a shame, I can hear potencial underneath some of those technical issues. Otherwise it is a nice performance.

      I thought the tension was heightened by the restricted pose -- he did angle toward the audience toward the end -- but I didn't think he needed to start out. Care is young -- yeah -- but that sob at the end -- ai!. He and the soprano singing Tosca had really, really good chemistry, too. It's a great production.
