Honda E passenger window juddering 9 Oct 2020

Our Honda E developed a (what is now a well known) fault on the passenger front window. It would go up and down a few mm and click constantly. Fixed under warranty by dealer.
Z900RS with Vandemon 4-2-4 system (baffles in)
มุมมอง 4.2Kปีที่แล้ว
My 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS with its new Vandemon 4 into 2 into 4 stainless steel exhaust. Very nicely made system, packaging was spot-on so it arrived totally undamaged (unusual these days) and it arrived on the day it was meant to despite its 10,000 mile journey from New South Wales to Britain. Fitting is a bit fiddly - it's one for pros or reasonably competent DIY mechanics. It took quite a bit ...

2014 Skoda Octavia glovebox removal and refitting to access fuse box
Thankyou what a mission
That could've been a lot worse without your video. Cheers mate
Why do they make it so complicated?
It's a left hand drive car converted to right hand drive. They just got lazy and extended the loom rather than going the whole hog.
Thanks so much for this. As others have said, the manual is no help at all. At least now I understand what's needed in order to remove the glovebox.
Thanks for this. A real life saver as I'd never have got there without your video
Perfect. Just the video needed.
Thank you, this is very helpful. The Skoda handbook is useless in describing how to do this. It would have been impossible without your help. I would add 2 things. A head torch and some blue tack. The latter is used to hold the soft close arm in place as you re-insert he glovebox. Otherwise is falls out of its housing requiring removal of the glovebox and starting again. I did that 3 times until I had the blutack idea. Once in place and the hinge clipped in you can then re engage the soft close arm and remove the blue tack.
Thanks for this, I needed to check a fuse. I found it easier to fit the damper before fitting the door to the hinges.
I'm just about to embark on this undoubtedly frustrating journey to replace the 12v fuse in my Skoda. Thank you for this video, it gives me hope
Once you've done it 2 or 3 times it's quite easy. The hardest part is getting the damper back in place at the end.
I would never have figured that out on my own - made the process so easy - thanks a million !
You're welcome!
Did this this morning and I didn't even realise the glovebox should be dampened as whoever has worked on it in the past has not put the dampener bar back when they've finished - and I can understand why! Thanks for the video (and good to see you didn't cut it to show the difficulty you have doing it).
Thanks for your kind comments. Indeed, it was a complete *%*&%*£ of job to do! Very poor design IMO.🤬
Superb! Helped me fix a loose connection on my Skoda’s fuseboard. Thanks for posting this
Thanks, both Halfords and Qwiklube didn't reinstall correctly but your video made me an expert!
That looked very difficult.I don’t think I could that without getting it wrong and breaking something.I’ll take it to the garage to be safe.
It was fiddly to do but not too hard. Trying to hold the camera made it a lot harder. The first time I did it I forgot to reconnect the damper so ended up doing it again, hence the video. The only thing I would say regarding using a dealer - if you need to change a headlamp/wiper fuse on a motorway at night and/or in the rain then (unless you have AA/RAC/GF etc cover) it's worth knowing how to do it.
Thanks for the video it was very helpful fixed the fuse took the glove box out no problem 👍
Thanks for this. Sorted me out today and saved a trip to the garage!
Thanks so much. (I am on my husband's account.) The rear wiper isn't working in the Skoda. Lots of rain & he is over 500km away in another state. I took off the side panel & scratched my head. Once it stops raining I am going to try. Don't have enough room under cover to open the door wide enough to fiddle about properly..... Bless you. ❤️🙏
Great video. Would have been lost or breaking stuff without it.
Excellent video. Saved a lot of time trying work out the procedure from the handbook!
Thanks Rick.
Really helpful thanks pal
At 100 ( or whatever a main dealer, charges) quid an hour, takes how long for checking a fuse? About ten mins, so that's about 16 quid, rounded up to the hour, 100, to check a fuse!!!!! Replacement? That's 5, bill, Designed to not last and to make the maximum for vag group,
Indeed. Wait until you need to change a front indicator bulb. The bumper has to come off, so I'm told. That'll be £150+ for a 50p bulb.
Thanks so much. Didn't realise until I saw this that what Skoda calls a "brake rod" is a DAMPER, and needs to be manually extended before replacing.
Just bought an Octavia and had the devil's own job understanding the handbook instructions. This video saved me so much time and cut the cursing down to almost zero. Thanks for taking the time to produce this!
Thanks for your kind comments. I blew the accessory fuse using a tyre pump when the car was a few months old and even the dealer struggled with the instructions. You just know this is going to happen at midnight in the pouring rain at the side of a motorway and it's bound to be the wipers or headlamp fuses that pop, so that's not the time to discover what a pig of a design this is!
Would help not standing on Gravel, might hear you Better light could see Sod all for that damoer and hook points, and a Stesdy Cam
This is great! Thanks!
Thank you, Rick, got a 2017 model and i thought i may have damaged the damper, but after watching the video it made me realise that i had done it correctly, to access fuse for 12 v socket in front cabinet, much appreciated post
Cheers. I will need this to wire my radar detector soon. 👍🇬🇧
What a arse of a job, just to replace a fuse !!
Thanks for video. Most helpful. Design remains the same for 2019 model - and seemed to me to be a little less fiddly to unclip/re-clip the damper than for 2014 model. Apart from making sure the damper is fully extended, you also need to watch out that the damper doesn't rotate and fall out of the key-hole shape that holds it into the side of the glove box otherwise you've got to pull out the glove box and start the re-attachment process again.
Thanks, great help
Thanks for that, it has really helped me to decide not to try and remove that damn glovebox... I do not have the patience to try and re-attach the damper :-( Could Skoda have made that job any harder I wonder?
Putting back the glove box clips is the trickest part even having put the extended clip on the main ones are something to have patience with.
Is that a Guernsey Parking clock I spy in the door bin?
It is indeed Mr O :)
seat toledo 2014 how open fuse box to replace cigarete fuse
I don't know, Max. I would think the fuse box is in a similar location to the Skoda's but that is just a guess.
@@RichardOzanne thank you

Thanks for taking the time to make this video and help others. 👍
mother of Jesus...why oh whay did they have to make it so awkward to access the fuse panel for. Daft. Even the mechanics at skoda could eaily break the plastice clips trying to get the glove box reset in place. Assine design
2 words.... Cost Saving. Cheaper to make all their cars in LHD format then install the wheel and pedals on the right than it is to have a separate assembly line solely for RHD electrics I would guess.
I would've eventually worked out all the stuff you explained but only after hours of effing and blinding, so sincerely thank you!
I did swear a bit the first time I did it ;) Once you know where everything is it's not too bad.
good video.... but you dont need to remove the side panel or use any tools 1/open the glovebox 2/ Pull the box off the 2 bottom hinges 3/ the damper will then be the right position to come out of the glovebox attachment. 10 second job
What a rummy design by Skoda
You're right there. It's all down to Skoda (and VAG as a whole) converting a LHD car to RHD on the cheap!!
Glad you did n't blame BREXIT
Thanks for the video, it was very useful in opening the glove box on a 2018 Octavia. The shape might have changed, but it is possible to release and latch the damper without removing the side panel. To remove the box, I first released the box then the damper to open. When putting it back on, I got the box as close as possible to a half-opened position, latched the fully extended damper then pushed the glove box in... but it's fiddly ;) Good luck!
Hi, I have the elegance model which has the silver trim above glove box, the trim has developed an annoying rattle, would I be able to access the rear of the trim using this method?? Thanks in advance
Honest answer is I don't know, but you should be able to see if you can get access if you drop the glovebox down. A good place for info on these cars is www.briskoda.net/forums/ Good luck with it. I hate it when trim starts to rattle.
Fantastic!
Fiddly but worked a treat, thanks for the vid.
Thanks. Yes VERY fiddly!! A right PITA, to be honest. Imagine having to stop on a motorway in the rain to replace a headlamp fuse :O
Amazing help thanks. Quick tip though - you can attach the damper before you clip the bottom of the glove box in. Much easier than the fiddly bit of trying to do it afterwards.
Good video, thanks for sharing.
Absolutely dumb design seriously the worst ever. Nightmare to put 1 simple f-ing fuse what sheer stupidity
Thanks for taking the time to share this, I have one today for a service and the cigarette lighter isn’t working. Job done now thanks again.
Exactly my problem and why (after a few attempts) I decided to post the video. Glad to be able to help :)
Which fuse is the cig lighter . Mine stopped working today . Thanks
hi. how can i remove & replace the sun visor of skoda octavia A7
Sorry I have sold the car now so no longer have access to see.
thanks, best regards
you need to remove little covers, and use correct tool to reach inside and squeeze together two little bits of metal, which when pressed together release off the roof . I used thin nose pliers, but caused some damage to the metal clips. go to car breakers and practice first.
