    Do power-cells keep their distinct size when stored in a capacitor?

      No, they get broken up into small batteries.

    • @TheEVEInspiration
      @TheEVEInspiration ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Oneye. I did read the in-game text about the bigger cells, but took it as mislabeling of what it does. Because visibly the bigger generators have just more cell-slots, which would explain in full why they generate more power. Kind of deceiving IMO, but thanks to your video I know what to do better in my builds. Thanks!

    .....Unrelated and a few months late, but you could've saved some time in whilst skipping from sector to sector after buying a new ship, if you waited for a few moments before the ship was turned online. Without that, you wasted some time going back and waiting for the ship to turn on so the FTLs are able to activate, like here *8:07* and here *11:18* and overall, browsing through the galaxy map could've been quicker. That's just human error though and can't really be perfected, because gameplay and ship design-wise, this Speedrun is truly almost perfect. Months (And even the release of the Steam version of Cosmoteer) later and this still doesn't fail to be impressive.

    The game had a setting already in it the people worker automatically did the job but here is one of the flaws that the gaming world thinks makes the game better, but it is just micromanaging things not needed. GO BACK TO THE GOOD OLD GAME AND STOP USING OUT DATEDED IDEA THAT SU@K!

  • @gamenrage5998

    What is changed you're not telling us what changed, and this is just the same building as before but you're not posting what is changed and that is why the game is not played anymore. Fix this broken game or just if you would of just left it alone and maybe the scrape yard item things were great, but the major changes are to the combat and what you are posting is bull sh!t.

    how are we supposed to know how many crew each power consuming part needs?

    • @Oneye.
      @Oneye. ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly since this can't be pre-computed, you have to rely on testing until you get a sense for it. Start out with more crew than you think you need, do the crew management things, set your weapons and thrusters to autofire like I do near the end of the video, and remove crew until there are none left in their rooms.

  • @marshal1x
    @marshal1x ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish the designed ships had power and logistics all saved. same for ships we design. why are all crew roles and assignments not saved for them. i cant just make a new ship that is the same without spending a ton of time re doing all power and logistics. best would be when saving ship design it should grab all that. also why do new crew always go to redshirt before other things. i think crew would be best filling right to left on the crew roles so we do not have to change the all purpose crew to the right every time we make new roles

    • @Oneye.
      @Oneye. ปีที่แล้ว

      When loaded from the ship library (dragged) into a creative mode game the crew roles and assignments are saved. Loading a ship from inside build mode doesn't. The dev is aware of this and will presumably fix it in the future. You can save roles as default by clicking the 3-line "hamburger" menu, and then load them onto another ship, if that's what you're asking about.

    Why is Auto Door a thing when -everyone- says turn it off? I got mad hour one of playing and hunted down the option and was thrilled to find there was a toggle. all my friends where equally jazzed to turn it off, and now I am watching videos EVERY creator says the same thing? why does it exist? and what sick bastard picked 7 crew for that bridge when every damn crew number else in the game is an even number? want seven crew somewhere? get bent you get 6 or 8...make the bridge take 8 or 6 for the love of all things OCD

    • @Oneye.

      Auto-door is there because most people don't care enough about optimization to place their own, and those people probably won't be reading/watching guides like this.

    This is extremely informative. Thank you for sharing this. Oh and if you see this, can you comment or make a video comparing this game with Starsector?

    • @Oneye.
      @Oneye. ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad it was helpful! Starsector and Cosmoteer are different in a lot of ways, though if you like one you'll probably like the other (and many people play both). In Starsector you can customize your ships but not build them from scratch, which is the main feature of Cosmoteer. Starsector has a more full-fledged singleplayer mode with story missions, colony-building, a "real" economy, and better fleet combat and AI (though this is planned to improve in Cosmoteer). However, Cosmoteer has co-op and PVP multiplayer, as well as the Steam Workshop. Both have extensive modding capabilities, with full C# modding being planned for Cosmoteer. Basically, if you want a very good singleplayer experience with a living breathing galaxy and good lore/story play Starsector. If you want total freedom to design whatever ships you want, love optimizing and experimenting, and want co-op and PVP play Cosmoteer. I'd recommend both to anybody, as there's still a good amount of overlap.

  • @SecureGM
    @SecureGM ปีที่แล้ว

    All the stuff here is easy and not difficult to set up. What I have problem with is refining in conjunction with storage. It is just impossible in my eyes to set a system which can keep healthy stock of all the materials and refine all the excess to the most valuable available product. It is also very hard not to sell your building supplies. I don't really understand how the storage and transport priorities work in this game!

  • @brohvakiindova4452
    @brohvakiindova4452 ปีที่แล้ว

    The thing with capacitors is, in many instances it seems easier to just build a small reactor instead. Sure in an isolated instance with the supply chain and a large reactor it works fine, but it gets really complicated when a single large reactor is supposed to supply more than that. Also shrinking the battery size to 1 can be both good and bad, or is the 3 battery size surplus accounted for when you put it into a machine requesting only 1 energy batch?

    • @Trickyman26
      @Trickyman26 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you think about it, you will realize that there are no machines requesting only 1 energy batch. 3-sized batteries just hold up 3x longer anywhere, because it still takes only one place.

    • @brohvakiindova4452
      @brohvakiindova4452 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trickyman26 Always appeared to me as if they put 3-sized in and only took 1-sized out and the total energy value of the capacitors is like 18? haven't paid enough attention probably.

    • @Trickyman26
      @Trickyman26 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brohvakiindova4452 Actually you are right. I was not remembering it correctly, so my bad. Then your question stands still. And I must check it out, because it really makes me wonder if 3-sided batteries are being depleted in 1 energy batched machines? 😀 I guess they are.

    • @brohvakiindova4452
      @brohvakiindova4452 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trickyman26 It's a two sided sword then most likely. filling capacitors in 3 patches in itself is fine with 18 total energy, but take out 1 and the next 3 refilled waste 2 energy. other way around a machine/weapon could request 1 energy and instead of filling with a 3 sized it could be satisfied with a capacitors 1 sized. But in situations with high "burst" demand your crew will waste valuable time delivering 1 sized packages.
