Played this 2-3 years ago for around 50 hours. Definitely fun but the balancing was kinda off at times. Some of the bosses were very hard, especially the old guy / mage had me have to change the build to actually beat. Archery also seemed so weak, especially compared to magic, which was such a fire & forget thing that just wrecked everything. Not sure if any of that changed, but for me who loves to play with bows this was a bit of a letdown. Settlement invasions were also kind of a all or nothing thing. Either you cheesed it with a big wall and a trap corridor to make them redundant, or they could potentially wreck your whole island because there was not much you could do other than take them all on yourself and pray that none of the stupid NPCs would walk into their death (and unlike Terraria NPCs they don't respawn).

Great review. Was always a fan of Terraria, Stardew, and Minecraft years ago. Picked this up on whim in very late last night and ended up playing all night and into the morning.. It’s a ton of fun, honestly just want to get back to playing some more.

in my opinion in dungeonborne there should be rule that you cant use same character as your teammate (except mithril order), bunch of lobbies with LoH abusers or High Ground Pyromancy Pyroblast abusers. games could be much more versatile. because im tired of fighting against 3 Death Knights or something. in solo it isnt much of a problem except the life on hit scandal. but in team play, people should play different classes compared to their friend

Right the whole Todd Howard's "it just works" don't fly far in pvp like this lmao😂 and this game you did right by the 1st step. LEARN THE BASIC cuz if you don't understand them you're doomed for failure.

Why wouldn't you just pve in the regular classic map while having petrify if you get ganked. This red portal way is very inefficient

stealing beds is so relatable, I just yoink other village's beds cuz its too expensive to craft in early game.

I have beaten what it has and enjoyed it. I beat everything the game had to offer before the graphics update so even with that being newly released I likely wont be playing it due to having done everything but I plan to pick it up again once new content is added. It took me about 15 hours to get to the end and I had a town of 20 and a town of 15. I do hope that they add quite a bit more content because it is short game but that being said it is in EA so its very possible they will add quite a bit more content. I look forward to seeing where it goes.

People saying it is like Rimworld is misleading and has caused several negative reviews on Steam from people who read that and are disappointed. You set up a settlement with people who work and defend your base, but they don't have personalities, so you don't get the emergent gameplay of Rimworld. I really like Necesse, I just wish people in reviews would temper the Rimworld comparison.

Elona is where it's at. Elona plus specifically. I have over 240+ hours on that game. So much to do. So much freedom and wacky/unique characters. It is also completly free. Also you can "mount" your companions. In every sense of the world and even make kids for a brand new game where you can leave your items for them as inheritance. It is also fully open source and it has multiple ports. I am currently running a mod of a mod of a mod of a mod lol. Elona plus custom gx + beautified. It is amazing

The graphics overhaul updating it from Prison Architect graphics to full pixel art is one of the best things the dev could have done for the game's image. Really looking forward to seeing this game pop off.

I've had this game for awhile and never touched it when it felt like so rimworld. Since it had first mc-like textures. Did not expect it to become Stardew-like textures but overall i've completed the game and oh boy. This is somewhat the best version of what 3 games is combined, Terraria, Minecraft, and Rimworld. If Necesse 2 where to come out. It would not only restrict to archipelago world structure but maybe a somewhat Core Keeper world structure. Core Keeper has the same vibe but not rimworld-like.

Basically it's halfway between minecraft and terraria

Few hundred hours in the game Without spoiling the game has a really fun and complex end game that is tons of fun. Wish you had mentioned some of the extra stuff you can do but understand why you don't wanna spoil some of the more "wow" moments. Overall awesome vid hope more people pick up the game its tons of fun. If you enjoy terria at all this game is def a must grab.

I love the game but I have mixed feelings on the endgame content, incursions feel kind of empty and I wish the biomes in the incursions were accessible in the regular map.

Somehow I missed this game on release. I really like it although the engine is a bit dated. Text scaling is a bit wonky on a larger monitor or higher res so text sometimes looks blurry / bad and also when you mouseover things the little popups seem kind of weird framerate or jittery or something. But seems fun. Gonna enjoy my time in it.

The fact your characters aren't locked to a world is definetly what makes me interested in playing this for solo/ with friends. Looks kinda sick for a chill lil experience.
