@@hubbardbrowniii4450 they have the same consumer laws here as they do in the united states when it comes to renting but the problem is that majority of the individuals that decide to move here will not actually be here for a complete year because most individuals travel to different countries from Santo Domingo because it is cheap on the dollar so they don't spend a lot of time here constantly and it could be a waste of money when you find somewhere else that you like more

Did you get your deposit back from your last apartment? I heard they don't really give deposits back in the DR whether it's damage done or not.

@@alifestyleofsmiles do you think it's a bad idea to pay a full year upfront? Or should I get an attorney if I pay a full month upfront. I heard the landlords in DR don't have to honor leases like in the USA . I would hate to pay a full year upfront and then get evicted with no laws on my side.

Yes, it depends on what area you live in. If the internet is decent, I have mainly used Claro services in the Capital. They have fiber optic capabilities. But if you are planning on moving outside the city, Altice services are more reliable. When renting $250 a month will be considered an economical apartment it will be on the low. They usually come furnished with just a one-bedroom studio style and they may or may not have air conditioning.
