it's exactly the same with bikes, tyres and suspension are way better and the geometry has got much better too. I think James May raced Gee Atherton on Top Gear and proved pretty much the same. Any course optimal for a car is too fast and smooth for any advantage for the bike yet you wouldn't get a car down any section of a cross country, let alone downhill track. You really want a hillclimb car with a bike rack to get the best of both !

@@grizzlywears It would be fascinating to know how much quicker bikes have become. In rallying, the cars must now be seconds per km quicker than they were in the '90s. Even a late Group N car from the '00s was quicker than a '90s Group A car on a lot of stages, so the progress over the last 10-20 years has been massive. Would be interesting to see a comparison between an old and new bike on the same course with the same rider (as someone who knows nothing about the subject that is 🤣)

@@maximumattackrallying GMBN did it with an old downhill bike vs a new Enduro bike. I guess technology from Fox shox has translated from cars to bikes in some way but it seems to be very parallel between the cars and bikes and the gains being made in suspension and tyres. The downhill bike in this video is way newer than the one Rob is riding. Cheers, really pleased with it they did an amazing job, you can see the marks from the mould where the original bonnet had washer jets but I think I'm going to fit them to the wiper arms, there is an Escort Cosworth specific kit 👍

Still wouldn't fit without altering the cage, we'll probably alter the cage when the roof comes off but fit a roof scoop later

I sent it back, got a refund and bought a different one which is also pretty lousy 🫣

Absolutely, pay for European quality and you get something that does what it says on the tin and has support. Chinese stuff can be very hit & miss. Glad it isn't just me !

They do make you realise that a good car is not about accessories or all out power. It is indeed an XROC sticker, sure it has a matching tax disc holder somewhere !

@@grizzlywears i agree, a fun drive you can fell every input through the peddles and wheel , the brakes are a good work out for right leg, i just have to remember when i get back in to my daily driver or the first time you press the brakes you end up putting the car on its nose and locking up the wheels 😮

These older cars might be missing plenty of features but they definitely have something new ones don't !

Not sure about the road cars but I've seen 909 and motorsport shells with the same vents pressed into the inner wings, I did think someone had just taken a can opener to them at first, I haven't done many checks on the VIN/registration number yet with regards to racing history, I think this car has had a few different lives

I have a pair of the WRC wings to go on, I know what I want at the end but just tackling things one at a time at the moment, its quite dependent upon how the DVLA respond because I want to retain the cars original plate and maybe get an FMC plate longer term. You're right, this car is screaming out for a flocked dash crammed with gauges ! If you're building these cars properly they take a lot of time but hopefully will turn out well, good luck with the mk1 👍

Cheers, Yeah it seems to be a mismatch of different spec builds. I'm sure it will all make sense if someone knows what it is, seems like less than Group A but more than Group N, part of the front of the cage has been removed so I'm wondering with those chassis-engine mounts whether it was a Group A and for some reason reverted to Group N and the Group A/WRC top mounts removed

Cheers, new cams & lifters are on the cards with new fuel pump, exhaust and probably engine mounts. bodywork will be tidied up and then maybe a bottom end refresh. A new set of bushes are well overdue, If it wasn't obvious they're worn out at 30mph, it definitely is at 60 🤔

I grew it myself, I use it to soak up fluids that leak out the car ! I had quotes of £10K+ for this car 20 years ago, now its like £85 per year with agreed valuation

The difference is you can still buy a real V8 mustang, Ford haven't replaced it. The Capri has been out of production since 1986 and they just made another generic ugly electric SUV and call it a Capri.

I don't really see the point of it in the lineup but each to their own. What I hate is the lazy recycling of the Capri name on a car that bears no resemblance to the original. 🫣
