Is it possible to modify this machine to transmit at 29.6MHz and have a transmitting power close to 5 watts?
Hello yes it's possible with adjusting the capacitors slightly on the pre-drive stage. Well with this mod it will cover 24-30Mhz but tuned more for 27 and 28Mhz. On 29.600Mhz you'll get about 3.5 watts output like it is now. 3.5 watts and 5 watts is nothing you will notice much in signal strength really.

Very cool link. Do none of the add on boards provide such features? Just wondering what the closest mod to this is with add on boards such as the latest V5? What would the advantages and disadvantages be between the two mods? That mod seems more devoted to those bands But i have nothing to compare it against for the moment.
Thanks the only add on board is the SI4732 which is really an upgrade to the Radio broadcast band chip that's already in the radio. The Quansheng has 2 radio chips. The first one is the main chip that covers 18-1300Mhz TX and RX. Then the second chip is just for listening to Radio broadcast band and is seperate from the main radio.
@@DuanesMind Those add on boards can bring you lower in the band and have USB LSB features. (with new firmware). The latest kit that I am waiting for also comes with a 2Mb eprom. Not sure what the benefits are but that seems to be what people are doing now.
@@izzzzzz6 yes but it's only for listening and is a seperate radio from the main radio. The mod I'm doing is for TX and RX and supressing the unwanted harmonics.
I converted UV KV with the SI 4732 V5 module. FM radio does not work. FM modulation works but not WFM. During WW3 it is worth being able to receive radio stations. Please help
Hi, I think it all depends on the firmware if it can receive Radio broadcast band + Shortwave. This is not something I've played around with yet but the SI4732 chip does also cover 88-108 MHz WFM.

Yes that would be nice but I suppose their main market is VHF and UHF. Most it will go down to is 18 Mhz unless there is another radio chip that will cover all of HF as well. The other issue is the filter section which will take up a bit of space so radio will be double the size.
@@DuanesMind 6m or 4m would be nice also as there is a gap in cheap radios for these bands.

Thanks, I haven't looked into this but if it needs better sensitivity then something like PART 2 of my videos will need adjusting.
Hi! High-quality job. Tell me why the dimensions of your coils (17-17-22) are not the same as in the modification instructions. According to the instructions, you need to make coils of 14-14-17 turns.
Sure for me these number of turns worked out the best. It's mostly due to my wire being 0.57mm and my shaft about 2.2mm. There will be some small variations in the amount of coil turns depending on these factors. You would have to experiment a little but even doing it the same as in the PDF you'll get good results.
@@DuanesMind I see. Then tell me what the inductance of the coils should be. I can accurately measure using the NanoVNA device. I will wind the coil with a 0.5 wire on a 2mm mandrel.

Even more interesting than the Albrecht for a sota activation considering the weight ! Does it work with the same kind of telescopic antenna ? All the best my friend from René in France
Thanks René, you can still use the telescopic antenna but you will require the SMA to BNC adaptor. For portable use this radio is perfect and I'm using it more than the Albrecht now. 73's

Is it possible to pass coarse gravel through an extremely fine sieve? Or do you want to get fine sand without using a sieve? The question isn't for you, @DuanesMind. My question is for @militaryrig. In this modification, we are using a filter at the PA output. We have the highest harmonic at -62dBm below the fundamental, which is around 36dBm. I guarantee that the first concern in this modification was not in obtaining power, but in obtaining low harmonics.
hello what modification did you make to be able to transmit on 27mhz with the uvk5? Did you install firmware? If so, which one? Did you also add a chip inside? Could you tell me more about these modifications please.
You will need IJV 3.** firmware and then you'll need to do the hardware mod. All info is in the discription.
