Alternate Realities Challenge Winner - "The Last Plant" - Breakdown - Grimm
มุมมอง 100K3 ปีที่แล้ว
IG: @scgrimm A breakdown of my Alternate Realities submission. I used Maya for everything 3D, Substance Painter, Alchemist and Photoshop for texturing, and AE for compositing. Some of the models were purchased, some I already had, and some were made for this. Texturing took up most of the time, with pretty much everything painted in Substance and tweaked in Maya. Thanks for watching! PC specs (...

Check out the breakdown if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/ybXvZVOPK1k/w-d-xo.html My submission to the #alternaterealitieschallenge #alternaterealities As part of a challenge hosted by #pwnisher, 3D artists were tasked with creating an entire environment. The only stipulations being the position of the circular object and the animation of the character. This gave me a rare chance to do som...

Fleas Lay Lots Of Eggs.
Man this looks juicy, Idk if it is possible with contracts and NDAs etc. but would a breakdown of some of these shots be possible?
Truly awesome stuff
thanks dude
Be what you want to be. Live life.
You are an incredibly talented 3D artist! Congratulations on winning first place in the 3D render project.
love your work. please do more animation
Did you make the building's yourself?
Some were modeled, but most were modified kitbash3D buildings with some extra bits, textures, etc
Absolutely amazing
How much does it take to learn 3D modeling to create such masterpieces?🤯
Amazing
wow super impressive
Did u make this whole thing?
All of the CG yes (Glass, buildings)
Now that's what I call a winner's breakdown!
Actually I'm new to this subject and can I know the software that u used to make this video?
Sure, Maya, Substance, After Effects, Photoshop
How did you deal with the indoor lighring noise grains?
fantastic job
A masterpiece!
dude I wanted to know how you did this is the plant etc..
Omg this is so good! Im creating a similar thing with Blender but with a figure walking through a highstreet at night for my college work, this breakdown really helps and inspires me to make one too. Thank you!
Thanks! Good luck with your project
Your work is sooo good ♠️
It's great but most importantly it creates a whole story in just a few seconds.
One of the best
Absolutely amazing! congrats mate
Thank you!
this is beautifully done 😍
people like you inspire me to learn 3d modeling, a huge well done, this was incredibly well disserved
Awesome
the big window in the background made this 10000000000000000x better

Где-нибудь можно посмотреть урок, пособие или какое-либо объяснение, как делать такую сцену? Последовательность, логику, нюансы
Is absoluty amazing, thank you
damn bro, that shit is so cool and i loved the way you put this edit together, its so awesome and interesting to see the process
Wallpaper plz
When I saw the montage ur clip was my favorite among other clips. Then I saw in the description ur clip is also the no 1. Love the atmosphere you make in this clip.
Thanks!
Masterpiece
This is sooo good <3
how long took you to finish this beautiful art work?
About 4 weeks
Do you make this volumetric fog and effects with after effects or create with Maya and composite only using After Effects? I mean, we can use some VFX using a simple video with blend mode like screen, lighten, etc using After effects or create this simulations in a 3D software and only composite using After Effects. Do u understand my question? Sorry, cause i'm too bad writing in english. I've always had this doubt, but as I'm a beginner, I don't know what the best way to be raised is. I just drop everything into blender (Like a mixer) and render everything at once. I saw you make separated things and composite after, can u explain to me this questions?
No problem, I get what you're asking. I did all of the volumetrics in After Effects. To render out volumetric in Maya with low enough noise would make the renders way too long. I exported the camera into AE and used stock smoke/fog elements in 3D space, then used the Z depth pass out of Maya to mask them into the buildings.
@@scgrimm Very interesting, I was curious, because when I saw your project on clint's live I had already determined for myself that it would be the first place, and obviously I always look for the best ones to be my reference, because knowing where I want to go , it's easier to study and pursue my goal. Thanks for the answer, I'm still studying, Blender, starting my studies with Maya, and a little bit of everything on 3D world.
@@luco_machado Awesome! Good luck in the future!
How much time it take to make it And can a single person make it Asking because Don't know about 3d rendering
Took about 4 weeks on and off. It helps that not everything is modeled from scratch, some of the BG buildings were started with purchased models.
i need this in wallpaper engine now
Awesome work Stephen! Love all the little simulated details!
this is absolutely amazing! i'm a beginner at 3d art and rendering, this was in the first cg challenge i had ever seen and i had to go look to see who it belonged to. super inspiring!
Thanks! Good luck with your art
This looks like something that should be made into a game
Is there a specific reason you decided to spent 4 days rendering 2 layers rather than spending 2 rending 1?
It actually saved me a lot of time. In the FG pass, the CPU doesn't spend much time on the alpha areas. In the BG pass, I placed a hold out card where the FG would cover, so the CPU doesnt spend time there either. All in all, it probably increased the overall render time by about 5-10% since I was also able to optimize the render settings and lights for each of the scenarios. But where it saved me a lot of time is that I finished the BG first, and worked on the FG while the BG was rendering. Then while the FG was rendering, I was comping the BG. While it may take my PC a little more time overall, it saved my working time a lot.
Your work is incredible. It has inspired me so much. I was glad to do this challenge. I may not have done the best job in the world by a long shot. But seeing pieces like this not to mention everything I and so many others got to learn from it. Made the experience so much more worth it. I'll try my best to hone this skill and get into a good university. So that one day I could make projects as great as this. Your work is amazing. Keep pushing forward!
Where's the loot? 😄 getting kinda noir feel cool work
¡I love it!
This is art
Nice Job!!!
I have been on blender for almost a year now. I just wanna know how long did it take you to get to this point? It was mind blowing to watch the breakdown. Damn!!!
I’ve been using Maya for about 8 years, but there’s people that have used 3D software for just a few year and make insane stuff. I think it just comes down to what kind of projects you set for yourself. Good luck!
