Summary: Tripod thought in a new way with an amazing, innovative and well working new feature. Other than that, the quality issues on basic features at that price tag make it a no go (at least for me). Sadly.
hi! thanks for your honesty, i was buying it but i thought to wait some more time and see how it handles time!
This is so good!
This is incredible 🔥🫡
How do you use a tripod in event coverage?
How do you use a tripod in event coverage?
I waited over a year to see that it's a little expensive. For 750 euro I would have gone for it...
No dedicated spikes (one per leg, not two) means it will wobble on dense grass. Serious flaw just kills the beautiful concept. I hope Smallrig will address this.
@@SuperSuperka After making this review, I found they they have the option to remove the plastic feet to reveal spikes underneath. Check out Potato Jets youtube video to see this more in depth
@@isaac.schultz I saw this option, but I consider it to be bad. Only normal single uncovered spikes "works" on dense grass, fallen leaves etc.. I did have problem with shaky footages previously because of sturdy tripod with wrong feets.
need a smaller travel version of this :D
Great and honest review. Keep it up!
Honest and thorough, as all reviews should be! Thanks!
Thanks! I'm glad you found it helpful
1. Great video! 2. The tripod seems pretty fantastic!
@@JesseDriftwood thank you so much!
Great review!
No spreaders?
I’m glad you put any negatives. Showing how it’s not perfect though really good!
wow, what an invention, reminds me of the Vanguard Alta pro, and the 'trigger grip' head it had; but fair points, that handle should have a screwed adjustment for the play, so you can lock it up or down, great idea for maintaining portability, but improvements needed, also that magnet thing, perhaps a circlip, to hold them in?, or make them into screws, with some loctite holding them in?
Well THAT brought back some painful childhood memories. Good shit.
@@ReelMovieNetwork Thank you. I hope it was a good experience even with the pain of it
Pretty cool. I love BTS
@@ReelMovieNetwork thank you !
Great review. I have #223 and experienced similar build quality issues. Glad you posted so I knew it wasn't just mine.
Thanks for the review
$1300 in Australia? Man that’s painful.
Such a great movie! I loved it, all is so well done and well told, great job!
Thank you so much!
how'd you get it so fast?? my order still says "processing"
I ordered it within 2 hours of them going live. I was order 148 out of the first 1,000
I like how my early questions were answered. You did a great job on the feeling invoked using the little dialogue. Side note the abusers throws are sissy throws lol That bottle and the shoe. This is probably why he is so angry. Good job man! Keep it up!
@@SpecialistCinema Thank you for your feedback! Much appreciated
Isaac! love the behind the scenes, I'd love to chat and buy you a coffee. Clicking over to watch the short film now.
@@SpecialistCinema Thanks! You can contact me at isaacschultzvideo@gmail.com
that was so helpful man hopefully they can improve on these small details . definitely looking to order these when they release more haha
Thanks man! I have been able to talk with Smallrig thanks to this video, and it appears they will be addressing all of these issues.
This is awesome! ❤❤❤❤
perfect
Y'all should watch potato jet's video, it answers all problems he faced.
❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 Talent on display!
im not sure why you say you cant put big cameras on it. Couse potatoejet did with his Arri
Please Smallrig make a longer version (going up to 170cm, without the central column which looks a bit funky when using big cameras and especially sliders), maybe with 75mm bowl ! Please use this concept and make several tripods. This is SOOOOO cool. i want that. never been so exited about a tripod lol
One question : when going maximum height (with extender tube all the way up), is it sturdy enough? i use an FX6, with a konova 60cm slider with my manfrotto 535 MPRO tripod, which is great, very solid, durable (using itsince 6 years and still perfectly working), but not convenient at all setting up. I can go up to 171cm (maybe 20-30cm more for the camera), so that is very hgh, and i use it a lot for topshots, with FX6 going to the edge of the konova. Do you think i could do something like that with this tripod ? I hope they will release a more robust and longer version of it, without center column wich seems fragile, and not fitted for slider use.
Personally, I would not recommend using the extension rod this tripod comes with (at least beyond 50%). I found it to be quite unstable with my 7lb FX3 rig on it.
@@isaac.schultz yeah, that is what i felt. But then this is quite a small tripod... I hope they will release a longer version of it !!! This is the future of tripod i think !
This was so cool to be a part of
Good!!!
Great innovation...but, after 2 times for returning the previous AD-01 tripod to fix...I really doubt with the endurance of the this cute thing.
Very good video
thank u!
No word on the price, eh?
@@DLCOrganization It’s included in the video - $800
Thank you for the video. Great idea of how to work fast with a tripod! How is the head to work with, is it smooth? Is it actually a fluid head?
@@martinekwall4671 Thanks! The included head is very solid in my opinion. smooth, with a strong counterbalance, and plenty of room to adjust the speeds of fluid movement. I think the pan is tighter than I would like however - not quite as smooth as the tilt
What's the warranty like for this thing?
Man that second guy was a joke. Fire that guy.
@@puertadlm163 😂😂😂
Thanks for reviewing this Isaac. you echoed a couple concerns that will have me waiting for the next revision or a fix. at $800 it better be awesome - especially the build quality since that is in Smallrig's control. Cheers!
Great overview, thanks for the in-depth analysis and real-world examples! I ordered mine the day of but mine is still in processing :(
Thank you! I'd imagine that your tripod is coming soon, if you're in the US. I had number 148/1000, and they might be shipping them in order of purchase.
Great intro
Nice Review Isaac! Well done Gene and SR!
@@KONDORBLUE Thank you - both for the comment, and your amazing products!!

What I expected from the version one. I'm certain they'll improve as Smallrig has a reputation of evolving their products.
Thanks for spending 800 bucks. I will just have to admire from afar. Lol.
