To me, in this game Coda and Davey have always been two sides of the personality of the author of the game (Davey Wreden), and in a certain way of every artist. Coda is the part that actually creates, that finds value in the work and puts all the effort to see it through and enjoy it himself. Davey is the side that is always craving for attention, seeking the validation of others, wanting to expose that work for the world to tell him back that they like it, that he is liked. In my mind, this game represents the internal conflict that many creative people struggles with. I also like that, in the process of trying to show Coda's work to the world, Davey is constantly trying to smooth corners, changing the original work. It shows how sometimes we will fail to ourselves and change the work we really believe in here and there to fit what people may want or what we think people may want. In pursuing this exposure and attention so desperately, Davey ended killing partially the part in him he that qas creative, who faded away and prevented him from finding new games to make (or, from the metaphor of the two people, from having new games to show to people).
